Rincewind Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 Be wary. I found an email from 'Paypal' asking me to reactivate my account as it was in danger of being deleted through unusual transactions. I have been using it for Travian which is more often than once a year so I visited the link but was asked to fill out my debit card details. Which I did not. I called Paypal up and told them and they said forward it to [email protected]. Had a swift resonse saying it was pisining mail. They said they always use the persons name which the spam one didnt starting with 'dear customer' Anyway I expect most of you are aware of this sort of thing but be careful. It can happen with any account you use over the net. I was told over the phone that there was nothing wrong with my account.
The People's Hero Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 Okay, we're going to have to do this the hard way. Nightguard, what are your bank details?
filbertway Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 I always thought it was called phishing. Or something like that.
DB11 Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 It's called 'Phishing'. Bad pronunciation over the phone??
Asha Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 It's called 'Phishing'.Bad pronunciation over the phone?? Everyone's concentrating on that. Surely 'paypay' is the real issue.
DB11 Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 Everyone's concentrating on that.Surely 'paypay' is the real issue. That crossed my mind too; at first I thought it was some people claiming to be called 'Paypay' and a copy of 'Paypal'
Rincewind Posted 22 June 2008 Author Posted 22 June 2008 I wrote it quick so never checked for typos. Philsening or pilsening, paypal or paypay the reason for posting is the same. A freindly warning to be aware of this type of email. You can choose to ignore at your peril to your bank account.
