lildave3 Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 I don't see one team remaining who have a consistently solid defence now.Italy have conceded 5 already and look vulnerable, as do Germany at times. Portugal's defence still isn't the strongest and Spain's has looked unconvincing too so far. That leaves Sweden/Russia, Turkey, Croatia and Holland left, all who have fairly average defenders amongst their ranks. It's going to start to get interesting now... Only because Gokhan is injured
Floating Fox Posted 17 June 2008 Posted 17 June 2008 Only because Gokhan is injured Football tomorrow? Call me 4ish?

SamL Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Did anyone see the French team coach before the game? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...008/7460354.stm
Ultra Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Probably explains why Thuram and Sagnol weren't playing.. That driver had a right mare.
Darkzzz_ Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 I do feel for Romania you know, but Italy have always done this, they have always started tournements so poor and then progressed....
AyewJoking Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 So France are out even though they are light years ahead of producing world class youngsters compared to England.
Darkzzz_ Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 So France are out even though they are light years ahead of producing world class youngsters compared to England. Say's it all dont it!!
AyewJoking Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Mind you, at least they qualified, making a bit of money which is the only thing the FA seem to care about.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 I do feel for Romania you know, but Italy have always done this, they have always started tournements so poor and then progressed.... I have a feeling that Italy will creep into the final like they always seem to do. Expect to see lots more footage of Luca Toni looking distrought as he misses another sitter / is offside again / has a penalty appeal turned down / has a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside.
Father Ted Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Villa? Torres? Silva? Iniesta? Xavi? Senna? Weak? They might be defensively frail without their captain and most experienced defender, but to imply they're "weak" without him is madness. Like Holland, Spain aren't a side built on defensive indestructibility and nor are Italy a dominating, goal-scoring machine. I don't think either side will "walk" it, but Italy will have to tripple their performances so far to keep the Spanish at bay in my opinion (unless, alas, the Spanish finally bottle it.) Yes, but against Sweden when he went off, Spain struggled to cope with Ibrahimovic and then he got a goal back for Sweden. And at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how ever many goals you score, you will lose if you concede more than you score...
