"We might as well have kept Holloway"

Wrong.

I've read this far too many times today. Regardless of Holloway's previous record and reputation as a manager, he relinquished the honour to manage us through his own bad decisions. His position was untenable, we have a new start now and a chance to start from scratch with an achievable goal in our sights and a brand-new approach.

The stakes are too high now to stay wallowing in self-pity over other managerial targets or "win percentages".

Let's consign all our previous managers to the past and give Nigel Pearson the backing that will in turn give him the best chance of getting us promoted.

BLUE ARMY

One of two things must have happened...

one: Nigel Pearson was interviewed before the Ince saga, so if he was that good why wait for a couple of weeks?

two: Nigel Pearson was interviewed after the Ince saga - so wasn't first in the frame.

Had we spoken to Ince and he said yes - he'd be here now.

The Mockery mentions that Pearson was spoken to 4 times over the last few weeks so it's a mix of one and two.

Not that it matters, he's the manager, he gets to pick the transfers, the team and - if he wants - the colour of the flowerbeds.

I agree with that.

I can't pretend I wasn't disappointed . Pearson has no track record of success so how people can know that he is better than Holloway I don't understand, only time will tell.

As always I will support the team, look for positives and if Pearson turns out to be worse I won't come on here saying I told you so.

He kept his side in the Championship and IH did not. I admit he would not be my top choice but give the guy a chance. Let his results do the talking.

I was part of the small minority that would have retained Holloway, but, as it's been rightly pointed out, both Mandaric and a large section of the supporters were not behind him. Without going over old ground, I still don't attach most of the blame on Holloway for our relegation - unfortunately for him, he inherited a mess of a club.

Let's be thankful it's not the dodgy Gregory.

Scoweh, you and I are in the same minority

I doubt that very much. Allen lost the respect of just about the whole club in the space of his short time here.

Explain please. The Watford game rather suggested otherwise..

He lost the respect of the chairman, for reasons which now seem understandable.

But that's not quite the same thing, whatever you may hear on Radio Leicester to suggest otherwise.

Pearson didn't have the same set of circumstances(ie MOF)

give the guy a chance. Let his results do the talking.

I intend to.

His own Chairman was hardly seen as sane and I believe it was fairly well assumed at the time that Pearson wouldn't be kept on due to financial constraints.

Pearson played positive lets win games football to keep Southampton up and was not afraid to use youth, whereas Holloway gambled on a draw to keep us up - I know which way I prefer.

Reading between many lines I believe that John Gregory had been lined up to be manager (read Steve Walsh column in Mercury and he says just as much - quote something like "When John had been confirmed as the new manager"). I believe reaction of fans prevented this and hence the delay in announcing him (Pearson).

Technically this made Pearson MM 3rd choice. But that doesn't matter, it will be easier for fans to get behind Pearson then Gregory and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a successfull season.

This presupposes that Walsh isn't engaging in a bit of fiction himself - no one could take his candidature seriously

and this must smart. For Gregory to effectively plead for the job by including him in a bid to become manager smacks of desperation.

Walsh needs to distance himself from commenting about club affairs and go and do some work within the game - he's going to end up crapping on his reputation if he continues dicking about like this.
