Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Wrong. I've read this far too many times today. Regardless of Holloway's previous record and reputation as a manager, he relinquished the honour to manage us through his own bad decisions. His position was untenable, we have a new start now and a chance to start from scratch with an achievable goal in our sights and a brand-new approach. The stakes are too high now to stay wallowing in self-pity over other managerial targets or "win percentages". Let's consign all our previous managers to the past and give Nigel Pearson the backing that will in turn give him the best chance of getting us promoted. BLUE ARMY

If people are going to moan about Pearson for weeks i may sack this site off. Wait till xmas shall we. Let's see what happens instead of making stuff up and making daft predictions!
James. Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Here we go again, another Fez is spot on thread. Don't you get bored of that?
Babylon Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I still think allerdyce would have been better, or steve walsh. End sarcasm.
SamL Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Spot on Fez. I'd completely lost faith in Holloway, he was the worst manager in our history so he had to go. I've now put my faith in Pearson to do well for our club.

Koke Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I disagree. I would have felt more confident with Holloway in charge and get us promoted than I do with Pearson in charge. I know we can't keep a man who relegated us but I'm pretty confident he would have taken us back up at first attempt. It's all done and dusted anyway, it's a new era and Pearson will get my full support as every other manager does.
Chrysalis Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I agree, as far as I am concerned its a new slate for the club and manager and we need to be optimistic.

teblin Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Doesn't matter if we should've kept holloway or not (which we shouldn't have). He's not here now lets get behind Nigel and get promoted.
Guest Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Here we go again, another Fez is spot on thread. Don't you get bored of that? It is rather sickening.

I just think Holloway's position was untenable given that he had lost the confidence of the chairman, the fans and the players. It's irrelevant whether he is seen as a "better manager" given his track record or past achievements. The key relationships had already been soured.

Leicester_Mad Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 fook waiting till xmas lets give a manager a proper full season with us and see what we can do.
holly Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 I will support him, but I really think there must have been better people who applied for the job rather than someone who is pretty much untested. Lets not get our hopes up anyway give it 5weeks into the season if it isnt working im sure Manderic will get rid of his 'right man' once again
C-man Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 At the time of IH's departure I was disappointed but understood that he had to go. At the same time I was completely pessimistic about the chances of getting a half-decent manager in. As the weeks passed, and as the names were fluttered about with more regularity than the number 31 bus to town, my optimism levels fluctuated almost like the weather. I was worried about the fans reaction if we had appointed someone of Gregory's ilk. So I made a post the other day suggesting that previous manager's records have not meant a lot in the past and Holloway's record was a fine example of how a half decent record became a terrible one during his tenure with us. I think it was an effort of trying to convince myself that even Gregory may somehow have been able to sort this club out... Now Pearson's been announced, my thoughts are that he wasn't the number one choice despite Mandaric saying he was, but is not a bad appointment on the whole. I couldn't really see us appointing anyone better so when I woke up this morning, switched on SSN and saw NP next to MM, it was a relatively nice surprise. He looked confident, and I really can't see him being a 'Yes man'. I'm quite optimistic about the season now

Good job as well,as i was about to text"you cvnt" to him......Another 5p saved...Happy Days!!!!! Have a good w/end lads and lasses!!!

BLUE ARMY I am not going to moan about NP at all he deserves his chance as much as any candidate. However his credentials are not exactly wondrous. I didn't see the point of sacking IH as there was no better candidates available. Today's decision confirms my belief. The only difference that NP brings is that he did not take us down so no baggage? Best of luck NP YOU WILL NEED IT! (if MM's history is to go by)
Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Oddly, today, I've finally been persuaded that sacking Holloway was the correct thing to do. More than that, I am relieved we have someone in place who I believe has the cojones to whip a squad into shape and give them a bit of self-belief for the cup finals we now face. Every team coming here is going to look to dick us over in our own stadium and I'm happy we have someone in place who is going to do a bit of shouting from the touchline rather than waving his shoes at me. I'm looking forward to seeing a load of League 1 grounds, I'm excited about seeing some of our emerging talent coming through and exciting me - but most of all, I am looking forward to getting back to drinking a belly-full and scoffing cheese & onion cobs like they're going out of fashion (assuming cheese & onion cobs were ever in fashion).
