ronnup Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 “The new manager will be one who will instil discipline, handle the dressing room well and try to play as entertaining a brand of football as possible. “Not only do I want us to get back up to the Championship but I also want us to do it playing the right way.” Ultimately it's about winning football - it's a results business," he told BBC Radio Leicester. "I'm not going to promise a certain style of football. "What is the most important thing is that we're successful, and if we can play good football, all well and good.

It's very good and encouraging to hear, and Pearson doesn't seem like a bullshitter to me. Looking forward to season already
Staf Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 I also hear he is giving every player a clean slate for the new season Fair enough he doesent know how bad some of them are but surely he will see the videos of last season and sell them? Or hopefully he will see one training session and see how shite they are
Fox You Forest Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 It's very good and encouraging to hear, and Pearson doesn't seem like a bullshitter to me.Looking forward to season already How can it be very good and encouraging to hear mixed messages like that?
teblin Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Surely playing football the right way could be taken in the way that, the right way is the wining way? I think you will have to be able to do both in this league. Powerfull strong play as well as passing to feet. You have to mix it.
Corky Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 How can it be very good and encouraging to hear mixed messages like that? Oh I don't know? I'm not reall with it at moemt

I can't see how he could, bearing in mind he knows none of the squad and probably has little idea at the moment who's going and who's staying and who Mandaric has on his shopping list!
filbertway Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 He said WANT, which isn't making a promise is it? So I wouldn't say there are mixed messages.
Scow Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 He's just being realistic - even the best teams mix it up a bit. There isn't going to be much football played in this division, with undoubtedly a number of teams dragging us down to their level at times.
teblin Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 "direct" football can be exciting. But it has to involve pace and power not just a lumbering striker heading it on.
Filberts lovechild Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 I also hear he is giving every player a clean slate for the new season Fair enough he doesent know how bad some of them are but surely he will see the videos of last season and sell them? Or hopefully he will see one training session and see how shite they are I know what your saying it can be annoying, but I read a few Saints fans saying on 606 that when Pearson came in he started playing all the players that they knew as being rubbish players for them and got booed a bit for doing it, but they said that actually they started playing well after a while and by the end didn't think they were that bad. I think Pearson will be the one to get this team playing. I know we'll go on about all these players we've got and we'll think they're rubbish because they were last season, but lets look at this realistically. On paper at the end of last season we had arguably the best midfield in the league. We had the best defensive record and on paper we had strikers that can get 20 goals per season. Theoretically we could of been challenging the play offs. So what happened?? Players don't just go crap overnight or as soon as they put pen to paper at Leicester City do they?? Personally I think it was all the managerial changes, too many players of the same standard in the team and no consistancy in what team was being played on a Saturday that led to inconsistancy on the pitch, for which MM and all the managers we had last season have to hold their hands up to. I think if Pearson does for us what he did in his time at Southampton we will go up, WITH the group of players that we have got minus a few just to get the numbers down. If he can get this squad playing properly we will dominate. I wasn't sure of Pearson at first but now I honestly think this might be the best person Milan could have appointed in the circumstances
wurmer Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 I also hear he is giving every player a clean slate for the new season Fair enough he doesent know how bad some of them are but surely he will see the videos of last season and sell them? Legend_in_blue Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Giving some of the players a clean slate so to speak might be a good thing. The way I read it is this: A lot of players still have a lot to prove, totally under-acheived last season, put in inconsistent performances, basically bottled it. By giving them a clean slate this puts the onus back on the players. Who stays, who jumps ship? If you don't want to be a part of it, and show yer face ever again on the Walkers pitch, then bugger off. Otherwise, stay, prove yourself, and earn back some respect. Top of this list would be Clemence, Howard and Oakley IMO.
Ultra Posted 25 June 2008 Posted 25 June 2008 Well we've seen two players jump ship already since Pearson arrived. I very much doubt they'll be the last ones to leave,
