Finally, some logic

Pearson has clearly taken a look at the squad an analysed what we actually need.

What do we need first? Oh there's no proven left winger, we haven't had a regularly assisting and scoring winger there for ages... what have we got... oh here's a free goalscoring, fast, assisting winger. I'll have that.

What else do we need? Oh, one centre back sold, one crocked, let's see what's out there. Ah, here's a highly rated centreback.

What else? Your central midfielders contributed nothing you say? Well let's just get this goal scoring, creative midfielder.

It's a fooking simple game innit really. All last year we seemed to just bring in player after player with no real thought to it. But the fact it that much thought wasn't even needed, our weaknesses were glaring. Kudos to Pearson for taking a bit of time to look at what we need, and to look at what's out there.

I can see what your saying mate and I do agree but lets not get carried away, we've not even seen them play yet ;)

Aye, I fully agree. You can see the method behind the buys though can't you? He's not really even spent that much. The Bury fans seem pretty sure Adams cost £170k. Dyer was free and Morrison won't have cost much either. All three have had good records. All three have room, and time, to improve. And all three meet a position in which we have space.

Tbh with you im really looking forward to seeing these play and them signing has got me excited for the new season the start and I believe that Pearson has his head screwed on.

Good records does not always mean that they will be a success though as we know from previous experiences ;)

I agree.

I'm very impressed with this whole thing so far in terms of who we've brought in. I'd like to think we've learnt from our transfer mistakes last season and it seems to be the case so far.

For Pearson to be totally on the ball he needs to clear some deadwood out too. How easy this is going to be for him I really don't know.

If you're signing players at this level who are 'big' names they'll be hasbeens. These players sound like good, up and coming lads who will have the hunger for success. So far, so good Nige. Just don't go nuts like Mad Dog and bring in an army.

He might need to given the number of players that are going to leave over the next couple of weeks.

it all sounds good but after 20 years and particularly last season, if ronaldinho signed i would be waiting for

perfroamnces and results.

i couldnt give a fook if mickey mouse was the manager and dave smith from anstey nomads was on the wing if they win games thats all i care about now

True enough. I just hope that he brings in players to replace the ones that have left and that's it. I just have a feeling that, with Adams in particular, we could look back in a couple in years and think what a bargain. 13 goals in midfield and already in the Welsh U21 squad is pretty good at this level. Quality not quantity, that's the way forward.

It's easy as that

No, you're right, it isn't. The point I'm trying to make is that it's refreshing to see a manager who's clearly trying to make it as easy as possible rather than making it as hard for himself as the others did last season.

What I really want to know is why Jessica Alba is requesting I come sleep with her?

I always end up reading Burnham's posts about 50 times for that very reason.

Quite agree and, with luck, application and the right guidance, there's a realistic chance they'll appreciate as time goes on which is not the case with old timers and something I've been concerned about.

And none of these look like Milan recruits like last time. Sure there will be more going though.

Has he realised the error of his ways and just let Big Nige do his job? Starting to look that way, and I'm all the more optimistic for it.

Obviously we don't actually know how good these players are yet, but thank the lord Pearson has immediately realised our desperate need for youth and creativity in midfield and also a promising centre half. I wouldn't be desperately disappointed if that was the end of our transfer activity now, well done Nige!

I remember this time last season when everybody was raving on about Sergio Hellings. I'll wait and see before I decide if these are good signings.

Those were blinded by the fact he had been at Ajax and because he was dutch he'd bring a total football culture. Many ignored the fact he was a player on the slippery slope from Premier division football to non-league equivalent football. At least Pearson's signings have all had recent success as far as personal performances and for Dyer, promotion. He appears to be signing players on the up, I just hope it isn't spoilt by the signing of a Darren Moore or Chris Lucketti type.

There seems to be an instinctive wave of optimism around any new signing. Nielsen was drafted straight into the first team in fans eyes - at least those fans who didn't watch his performances in friendlies.

Kaebi seemed to bring his own following which conducted a blinkered campaign for his first team inclusion and, yes, there was luke-warm support for Hellings, Djiziri and Ferreira getting a first team chance as well - but not from many who ever watched them play in the reserves.

I don't think Pearson's signings will be long distance guesswork or agent recommendations. I think Pearson knows exactly what he's getting and all are players well acclimatised to English football, English methods and who will be here and ready for pre-season training. There's no way Pearson would have moved so quickly for them if he wasn't confident they will fit in with what he wants.

And of the comments I've read from a fans of their former clubs you get the feeling they're going to be missed, surely a good sign.

Exactly, and not just in value, either. We need to be signing players that not only flourish in this league, but with the right coaching, guidance and game-time can prosper at Championship level too. That goes for the kids we've got on the books too. Whether it takes us one season or five to go back up, any club, especially a club of our stature (without getting too carried away :D) needs to have one eye on the league above

I hope you're right Thrac. I just wonder why we are signing these unproven(at this level) 20 year olds when we've got unproven 20 year olds on the books already.

The thought of relying on Worley and Morrison in defence worries me no end.

At last ... hopefully ... it looks as though we are finally going in the right direction under Nigel Pearson.

Transfer activity on the first day suggests he is eager to make his mark and replace the stars who have left us.

I have a mate who supports Cambridge United (gets to most home games and some away) and he says that Michael Morrison is a good signing for the club aswell as speaking very highly of him.

Nicky Adams a midfielder who has scored 13 goals in 49 games last season, he seems eager to join and Bury seem to be disputing over his transfer fee. Are we trying to get a bargain or are Bury wanting compensation for an important player?

Lloyd Dyer a winger, rumored to be pacey which is something we need, quoted from the official sight 'has an eye for goal.'

We'll have to see how it goes but I am very happy about the news that we are getting the players that Pearson obviously wants and I'm hoping he can now ship out some of the deadwood: Hellings, Hayles, Howard etc.

BTW how do I request a name change?

This has already been done sort of.
