Dodds Gone

im not 100% sure but im pretty sure a fee has to be paid whether or not it is value for the player. look at palace and bostock, he went for 700k which is why simon jordan wants out because the money he put into their acadmy to only get fu*k all basically. but im sure that a fee (as dodds is under 24) must be paid, whether agreed by the two clubs or a tribunal.

Yeah, but what he's suggesting is that we've accepted a bid of nowt up front and more conditionals than we'd get at tribunal rather than going through the hassle of a tribunal with risk of it going their way and being something small up front with rubbish conditionals.

Not rated by most by the looks of it, I thought he had potential but never got his chance - I can sense people with raised eyebrows :D

with all our so called strikers misfiring so badly in recent seasons how he never even managed to make a couple of sub apps at least is strange, good luck to the lad

And that is the last we will ever hear about Louis Dodds. Unless he comes back to haunt us, as O'Grady, Dawson, Petrescu, Wright et al have.

O'Grady, Dawson, Petrescu, Wright et al have all come back to haunt us?

Really?

They've haunted me, for proclaiming them to be world beaters on here! I'll learn, one of these days.

Gradel's better than Pele.

Haha, that's true.

Petrescu is a legend in the Finnish league. :D

Does he still play for the Finnish Inter?

I think so, scored against Bordeaux in the UEFA Cup last season, absolute peach of a goal.

He's at Tampere now.

Dodds is one of those players who, like Chris O'Grady, will be a competent League One player, but not really amount to much more. Unfortunately, as we're now in league one, that could have made him a useful backup as I really don't trust Steve Howard to suddenly do anything. Its the type of move he needed though, so good luck to him.

Dodds will be an excellent signing for Port Vale where there appears to be quite an air of expectancy this season.

It was never "on" that he would stay although, with Dickov's signing looking increasingly unlikely I think we're definitely a striker short and perhaps two.

The Luton game emphasised once again how we have no-one who's capable of attacking the near post or of ghosting through defences, two things among many that Dodds could do well enough.

Dodds looks a fair bet for 10 goals plus and would rate number two or perhaps three at Leicester just now. Seems silly to lose him without a realistic replacement though surely someone will be arriving soon.

In my view he never got a chance at Leicester because we'd signed Fryatt for decent money and seemed determined to play him.

At time went on he wasn't the only biggish signing up front and the financial commitment to the likes of Howard, Campbell and Fryatt was always going to leave Dodds the outcast. I even wonder if they were afraid to play him in case he did well, merited his place and left the problem of what to do with one of the golden boys.

Might have been a bit of sarcasm there chief. All were proclaimed as world beaters (probably because of Champ Manager) at some point or other, however.

:crylaugh:

O'Grady is now a League 2 player at best. Dawson - haven't heard of him since. Petrescu - Same as Dawson and Tommy Wright - well, see O'Grady.

Oh dear, you seem to have fallen into the same trap I did. Read the post about 3 above
