Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Its too hot for me, i got sunburnt driving home from Birstall today. Stupid irish heritage! I live in Birstall. You should of popped round, I'd have brewed up a lovely stew. Now get back to the LCFC forum!
Joe. Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Anybody care to say what they thought of these playlists?
AoWW Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Haven't had a listen yet - but I'll give my opinion when I have.
Jay Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 I have also made one right here. If there's not one track in this that you like then I shall retire from this for life:1. Simian Mobile Disco - Tits and Acid 2. Justice - Waters of Nazareth 3. Band Of Horses - The General Specific 4. Eight Legs - These Grey Days 5. Oasis - Falling Down (Chemical Brothers Remix) 6. Bryan Tyler ft. Slash - Mustang Nismo 7. Rage Against The Machine - Renegades Of Funk 8. Andy Gower - Morning Sun 9. Antoine Dufour - Development 10. Bloc Party - Mercury 11. Hadouken - Declaration Of War 12. Get Cape Wear Cape Fly - Over and Over (Hot Chip Cover) 13. Weezer - Heart Songs 14. Hot Chip - Shake a Fist 15. The Killers - Bones It's just under an hour long. I've tried to make it so there's literally something for everybody in this one too. http://www.sendspace.com/file/8ifawb I love that song from Band of Horses brilliant song and a brilliant album
Joe. Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 I love that song from Band of Horses brilliant song and a brilliant album Out of my whole playlist I would have put that song to the one that nobody's heard of. I should have known with you around Jay!

Hot Chip - Shake a Fist 15. The Killers - Bones Anybody care to say what they thought of these playlists? I'll instantly recognise and love any Justice song. I've got the new Weezer album, and, on first play through, Heart Songs was one of many that stood out as Weezer at their best. Never heard Declaration of War after shunning Hadouken (thought That Boy That Girl (not sure if that's the right title) was wank), but I quite like that song. Hot Chip and Rage speak for themsleves though really.
Jay Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 Out of my whole playlist I would have put that song to the one that nobody's heard of. I should have known with you around Jay! had the album since around the end of the last year!! it's on Sub Pop records who are doing some interesting stuff at the minute with the likes of Band of Horses, The Helio Sequence, Wolf Parade and so on the BOH album it's a great listen highly recommended did you ever see Chuck on Virgin1? this song was used about every week and if it wasn't they had another off the album if you haven't already you should have a listen to wolf parade

Fez of Mahrez Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 I really want to get into Errors Fez but supposedly there best song Milk is shitballs. Hmm. They're brilliant. You're an idiot.
General Smuts Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 Hmm. They're brilliant. You're an idiot. 17. Salut! France - ErrorsStarts off very very strongly with the Hot Chip action, i expected a little speccy man to start warning me about breaking my face but then it calmed down all nice. 7/10 My review of you cd swap. I do like them but just can't get into them, i need some catchy lyrics to keep me interested.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 I'll get on making a playlist when the rain comes. It'll probably look something like this: 1.Thrice - The Earth Will Shake 2.Thrice - Of Dust of Nations 3.These New Puritans - Colours 4.Vampire Weekend - Walcott 5.Reuben - Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em 6.The Subways - Girls and Boys 7.Hybrid - Finished Symphony (Soundtrack Edit) 8.Alkaline Trio - Settle for Satin 9.Glassjaw - Pretty Lush 10.Funeral For A Friend - Escape Artists Never Die 11.The Fall Of Troy - Quarter Past 12.Weezer - Take Control 13.Placebo - English Summer Rain 14.Cold War Kids - Hang Me Up To Dry 15.Reuben - Lights Out Like I've said I'll get round to putting it together when I'm bored.
Lillehamring Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 ooh, two scandinavian artists there - i seem to remember you not being impressed with ida maria at some festival, could have been someone else - everyone is nuts about lykke li here, but i think her stuff is rather weak... you really should get to some festivals over here, i think oya is the next one, but probably too late now - you should look into it for next summer, seriously - so many great unknown bands over here, and unlike half of these brit bands, genuinely sublime musicianship...

Good stuff. Not keen on the newer Thrice but those two songs always stood out to me, the Thrice I prefer is on The Illusion of Safety Good choices from Glassjaw, TFOT & FFAF too.
Asha Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 And proper love this one, so I thought I might as well see if anyone fancied a go.It runs: Sleep Deprivation - Simian Mobile Disco La Breeze - Simian This is how it Feels - Inspiral Carpets Climbing up the Walls - Radiohead Acrobat - Maximo Park Play with Fire - Rolling Stones Naomi - Neutral Milk Hotel The Chimbley Sweep - Decemberists Blessed Night - Howling Bells Trigga Hickups - Menomena Blown Away - Pixies Let There be Light - Justice Count Souvenirs - Junior Boys The Drunkk Machine - Thom Yorke Brain Damage - Pink Floyd Runs a few minutes less than an hour and works better than it sounds, honest. (Yeah this bits the link) Giving this a listen now...will let you know what I think.

Not keen on the newer Thrice but those two songs always stood out to me, the Thrice I prefer is on The Illusion of Safety Good choices from Glassjaw, TFOT & FFAF too. I didn't think Thrice could top The Artist In the Ambulance but Vhiessu was so epic. A bit like listening to Deftones' White Pony album for the first time over and over again. Proper into Funeral for a Friend at the minute as well. Especially EAND.
Flynny Posted 28 July 2008 Author Posted 28 July 2008 I prefer your Vampire Weekend song. Best one on the album I reckon. I'll listen to some of these tomorrow night.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 July 2008 Posted 28 July 2008 I prefer your Vampire Weekend song. Best one on the album I reckon. I'll listen to some of these tomorrow night. First one that stood out to me when I first heard the album. Great band.

I've said somewhere else that i wasn't overly keen on Ida Maria when i saw her at dot to dot but then she was twatted and incoherent at the time. This song really got stuck in my head though as catchy pop songs are prone to do with me.
