FilboFox Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Just thought it was about time that we had a thread where people could voice their opinions on what we have at the club... and who they would like to see come in as the our Number 1 at the back... Personally, I don't really think Henderson has what it takes and is prone to errors so we NEED to get someone in who can control the back line AND deal with crosses, corners, shot stopping etc. The sooner the better... but time is running out.

Father Ted Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Henderson is fine. But if another goalkeeper comes in I wouldn't mind. But the only goalkeeper I would want us to sign would have been RUSSELL HOULT but not likely now...
dandannieldanok Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Why won't people get it into their heads that we are in League One and can't afford or attract a better goalkeeper than we already have. Henderson isn't going and we aren't buying another keeper, I can almost guarantee it.
Jimmy2Drags Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Henderson's got the number 1 shirt, so he'll stay....he's still crap though! These 3 would piss on him. Simon Rayner @ Torquay (yes, Torquay) is a fookin' giant &........he can catch! Something Hendo is clearly crap at. Dean Brill @ Luton - They're fooked & a good bid would get him Mark Bunn @ Northampton - Good, agile, young keeper. He'd be stupid not to come if we offered. That said - Henderson's got the number 1 shirt, so he'll stay....he's still crap though!
blue blood Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 a commanding keeper will be the difference. As we know when fullop was here, a keeper that is all that makes the difference and sends confidence through the team. Is it worth breaking the bank for? even on a loan basis????
mmarkie Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Rumours of David Martin. Where are these rumours from?
BoneHead. Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 David Martin would be great on a loan, fingers crossed these rumours are true.
davieG Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Where are these rumours from? Bentley's -SohoFox Posted on 31/07/2008 16:54http://fansonline.net/leicestercity/mb/ema...ss.php?id=49097 Alvin Martin's Son?GK at Liverpool. 22. 6' 1". David Martin. Might be ours soon. On loan for a season.
ASH17LCFC Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Paul Henderson step up last season and did pretty well, he's no Marton Fulop but we're never gonna get him so get over it. Henderson was ok in the championship, so League 1 he should be able to put in a few good performances and play his part. He's a very good shot stopper but he's abit dodey on his catching but lately he's improved on that. I'd say keep him as our number 1.
act smiley Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Tim Krul Newcastle Pearson knows him well! YES! OH GOD PLEASE.
Ash08 Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Wouldnt Mind Krul We Do Need A New Keeper Priority One Now
Paddy Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Priority 1?????? how about a striker who can finish!!!? Henderson had a good stint last season, the guy deserves a chance this season. Our problem has not been a bad keeper for a long time, its that we cant score enough goals. That is priority number 1.

DCM Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 2nd best defensive record in league last yr but only scored a handful of goals...................new keeper? would be nice don't get me wrong but a player who can shoot would be great.

Nicky Maynard is the answer to that question, but i think he;s off to brizzle city for 2m
act smiley Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Being able to score goals isn't just down to having a 20-goal-a-season striker, the same as our defensive record wasn't entirely down to the keepers we had - we've got players in midfield who contribute more in an attacking sense now, and I don't think we're massively far from having a decent strike force. While I don't think we're in a position to worry excessively about Henderson, he's not a world beater and if the option to take on a player of the calibre of Tim Krul on loan presents itself we'd be stupid to turn it down. However, I don't think we're in a situation where we should fuss about it too much and if come the start of the season Henderson is in goal it won't bother me.
ThorpeAstleyFox Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 I actually quite like Henderson. Yes he is a bit short, weak on crosses and his distribution is questionable but his shot stopping and reflexes are both excellent and he organises the defence well. I'm not sure that we could do a lot better in the current position that we find ourselves in. I would love to see us bring in a new keeper though as I think that Logan is poor and not up to the job. Tim Krul sounds like an excellent shout.
Bryn Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 Henderson would suffice but I don't believe there's noone better out there. I reckon there are people we could bring in that are better.

J.Lisemore Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 Its like playing with an open goal with Henderson there i would like to see the Luton keeper called Dean Brill everytime iv'e seen him he always looks good and wont take to much prising away from a club in big debt.
morris1234 Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 i honestly cant imagine how henderson would feel about this. if he didnt play as well as he did last season we would have been relegated a lot earlier, he was class and hasnt done anything wrong, yes he has his faults but youre saying that we need a gk with all these attributes, but how do you know that these keepers are like that, how do you know tim krul is good? same with david martin? its not just henderson that hasnt kept a clean sheet all pre-seasaon cisak and logan have played too! like somebody said, SCORING is our no1 priority for next season, whether we need another striker or not i dont kow but we certainly dont need a new gk! hendo is our no1!!
