team for MK dons

I keep thinking back to that analysts "air of pessimism" that is supposed to be enveloping The Walkers.

My pessimism evaporated almost from the time the forked-tongued Hollowords took his leave and right now I feel we're on the verge of a genuine new dawn.

Suddenly our team is bristling with attackers. Opposing defenders won't easily be able to go 2 v 1 because there'll be threats from all quarters and people who can pass the ball fast enough to use those threats.

All our forwards should benefit from the time and space the others around them create and my greatest concern now is us losing patience, getting over anxious and letting our frustrations show if things go wrong as they will on occasions, especially with a new defence.

We the fans have to be encouraging. People like Gradel, Porter, Adams, Dyer amd DJ will take people on and look mugs on occasions. But we've got to keep doing what Pearson does and just urge them to have another go and another. And being fair I think that's already happened to a great extent.

Once the breakthroughs come, confidence will soar and then I have no doubts that this team of ours can be a credit to behold. We know already that we'll have something to watch this season, people who can get around the back of defences or pass their way straight through em.

But so many of our players now are the types who feed off the adrenalin generated by cheering fans and it is those fans perhaps who, more than anyone, who can lift our team onto a level which takes them beyond being mere entertainers and into the rarified heights of championship challengers.

Pearson needs to play his part - by lifting people when they come up against a player who presents them with a defensive brick wall instead of dropping them into oblivion as has sometimes happened with other managers in the past - but basically we need to quickly get into the habit of winning and of sustaining pressure from start to finish whether we go one up or one down.

Pessimism? I've rarely looked forward to a season more. Cos at long last I feel we're building a team to be proud of. Bring it all on cos I can hardly wait! :scarf: :scarf:

having been to most of the pre-season games I too share your optimism - the side now looks balanced with attacking wingers on both flanks. The defence, though shaky currently, I'm sure will gel over time. The only difference I would make is to drop Howard, who still does not seem to want to run for the team. Instead, I would play Fryatt with a younger striker - someone who will come through in a few games and then have a good season. I would consider Ash Chambers or McKay

I don't see why you are unhappy about that. Fryatt has been our best striker in pre-season by a country mile and DJ has been dog shit. Players should be picked on merit and a confident Fryatt, might, just might score a lot of goals at this level. Until DJ can find some sort of form, he's not worth persisting with. (You watch DJ go and nail a hat-trick now and Fryatt miss some standard open goals!  )

But we've seen in the last two pre-seasons how prolific Fryatt has been (especially, as now, against non-league teams), only for him to fail miserably against serious opposition.

DJ may have been dire, but at least he offers the attack some much-needed mobility, something neither Howard or Fryatt are likely to do.

All our strikers will benefit from having two proper wingers and, hopefully, energetic and constructive support from midfield. Fryatt's lost weight and looks noticeably sharper this year. Furthermore he's shown he can score in division one where his well-known shortcomings are perhaps not so apparent.

That's not to say anything against DJ. His general contribution seems much underrated but he does need to score consistently because that's what we need first and foremost from our strikers.

With Porter, Adams and Gradel being mobility personified, Howard being the battering ram and Fryatt confident enough to just be himself I am sure we will pose problems for every defence whatever combination we use. Dickov's arrival would only add another dimension.

Confident? I'll back Leicester for 75 goals or more this season and predict they won't fail to score in more than four or five league games, compared with 19 last season. Bloody hell, when I read that figure it's no wonder we went down!

so why couldn't that tool last year get Fryatt to lose weight then, just shows how poor his man management was.

one thing Pearson does seem to instill is fear and I LIKE IT!!

mind you, a few 3-4 / 4-2 wins and they'll be some cocks on radio leicester moaning about the defence.

Not that I want to defend that mug but he didn't have a full pre-season worth of fitness training with him as Pearson has done. Plus Fryatt has probably never been so motivated in his life as he must surely have realized that this is his last chance to make millions and be a playboy footballer. Fail this seasons and it's a lifetime of the lower leagues!

Although I wouldn't mind Lloyd Dyer playing, and showing MK Dons what they lost.

Dickov Howard

I'd be annoyed if Pearson has Fryatt on the bench, he deserves a chance as he shown in pre-season that he's woth a shot. I think Howard and Fryatt will start up front, but i would like Dickov and Fryatt to start. Gradel deserves to start aswell! My team would be:

Henderson

Gilbert Tunchev Hobbs Mattock

Gradel Kishishev Weso Porter

Dickov/DJ Fryatt

Fryatt MUST play, this is his league.

Howard shouldn't be still playing for this club. But he's the only proper target man we have atm so he'll probably start too.

Dickov shouldn't play yet as he's been around for only five minutes, maybe he could be used as an impact player.

Gradel Oakley Wesolowski Dyer

Howard Fraytt

I think henderson is definitely in the side, right back and left back cemented tunchev if fit, morrison is long-term mold of pearson and future captain

oakley is class and has played pretty much every game pre-season, weso was rested at weekend cuz he gets injured and didnt want to risk it before the big one but he's ready for mk, gradel deserves to play depends if were going to start cautiously which i believe we wont, dyer playing against his old team is a must and will be a starter because he is improving and starting to gel well with mattock, fryatt back to scoring goals looks fit and fast is a must, howard who knows were his head is but we need him because centre backs in this league will want to kick us from start to finish and he can dish it out well, dickov class act but cant start because it just isnt fair on the other lads sweating blood to get into the first team and start so bench warmer or left out of squad, i think adams is class but i feel he will be unlucky to not be in the starting line up but will be a key figure this season he is the only player i feel could potenitally drop in on the pack at the moment also dj if he starts scoring quickly

i didnt realise that dyer had scored 11 goals for them last season! are we sure he should be here, a goal-scoring midfielder at leicester??!!

Adams got 13 and Gradel got 11. Can you believe we have 3 midfielders who scored 35 goals between them last season?

Based on reports and some of my own viewing:

Henderson

Gilbert Tunchev Hobbs Mattock

Gradel Oakley Weso Dyer

Fryatt (Yes, really.) Dickov

This the team I'd go for:

Henderson

Gilbert Tunchev Morrison Mattock

Gradel Kishishev Oakley Dyer

Howard Fryatt

However, I think Pearson will start with Adams on the right, bringing Gradel on in the second half.

I was wondering if King may play along side Oakley as he is more of a physical presence than kish and wesolowski(in terms of stature).
