hairy Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 I was hoping Sappleton would figure sometime soon but I guess I'm going to have to wait longer than I wanted with all these strickers
LCFC123 Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 This the team I'd go for: Henderson Gilbert Tunchev Morrison MattockGradel Kishishev Oakley DyerHoward Fryatt However, I think Pearson will start with Adams on the right, bringing Gradel on in the second half. i agree with this team. Hopefully we will see dickov come off the bench to notch the third
Lovejoy Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Martin Gilbert Morrison Tunchev Mattock Gradel Kishishev Oakley Porter Howard Dickov
DanTheFox07 Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 MartinGilbert Morrison Tunchev Mattock Gradel Kishishev Oakley Porter Howard Dickov Good line up but unless there is something they really don`t like about henderson`s game then can`t see martin playing considering he has only trained with the rest of the team and not played a friendly with them.
Charnwood Norris Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Henderson Gilbert, Tunchev, Hobbs, MattockGradel, Oakley©, AdamsPorterFryatt, Dickov Still not completely confident of Morrison starting, he seems a bit unresponsive to stray passes and looked lead-footed after 70mins. Needs a few more weeks.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 I'd definately go with Hobbs ahead of Morrison....
sham Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Henderson Gilbert Tunchev Morrison/Hobbs Mattock Gradel King/Kishishev Oakley Adams Howard Fryatt Although i would go with Hobbs to start, i have a sneaky feeling pearson will start with Morrison. Adams has said countlessly that he can play anywhere along the midfield including LEFT midfield. He has been more effective in all the pre-season games than Dyer. Dyer has been a little disappointing. Maybe just needs time to settle in? Also gradel can also play left if adams is to play right (just as gradel did for bournemouth) which was proven very effective. King/Kishishev gives oakley the freedom to move forward to help the attack. King also likes to push forward too and we have seen from pre-season and last season that he has a rasper of a shot which is a dimension that Kishishev nor Wesolowski have in their game. A good understanding between oakley and king could be the key to a good attack. I also believe having watched the birmingham game the understanding between Howard and Fryatt has improved greatly as Fryatt was reading howards flicks and headers. Although i would love to see Dickov start, the growing understanding in the partnership of Howard & Fryatt will be utilised in the 1st match and see how it fairs.
Charnwood Norris Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Dyer has got goals in him though, reaction and spring the offside trap. His long ball needs touching up, Adams is superior there. For once the left side has competition.
sham Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Dyer has got goals in him though, reaction and spring the offside trap. His long ball needs touching up, Adams is superior there. For once the left side has competition. Agree with the goals aspect of his game, but he scored 11 in league 2 but i don't see it being a problem. He has a vicious cross on him but seemed to lack the extra yard when taking on the last man and got himself in trouble where as adams & gradel seemed to do this with ease. King has scored a couple against quorn and a free kick against ilkeston. It just shows the drive he has to move forward. His inexperience could be a hindrance but nevertheless this could be his year to get his career kick started.
knowitall Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Actually i'd put Kishishev in the team and Wesolowski on the bench for Andy King. Why change your mind from the team you first picked?????????????
David Guiza Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Hendo Gilbert Tunchev Morrison Mattock Gradel Oakley Wesowloski Dyer Howard Fryatt i would like Dickov , Porter and King but i rekon that will be the 11
Legend_in_blue Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Hendo Gilbert Tunchev Morrison Mattock Gradel Oakley Wesowloski Dyer Howard Fryatt i would like Dickov , Porter and King but i rekon that will be the 11 I'd go with that and put Dickov, Porter, Campbell, Hobbs and King on the bench. What does that bench say to you? Pace I tell you. PACE. Up and at 'em.
Durnerz Posted 8 August 2008 Posted 8 August 2008 Henderson Gilbert Tunchev Hobbs Mattock Gradel Kishishev Oakley Adams Howard Fryatt Subs: Martin, Dickov, Morrison, Wesolowski, Dyer.
Candidcamera Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 GK:Henderson RB:Gilbert CB:Morrison CB:Tunchev LB:Mattock RM:Gradel CM:Oakley© CM:King LM:Dyer ST:Howard ST:Fryatt No way that there is going to be another line up. The post says what the line up will be - not what we want it to be ! This looks OK but I think there will be changes as we go on for instance Porter, Adams and Weso.
Thracian Posted 9 August 2008 Posted 9 August 2008 I'd go with that and put Dickov, Porter, Campbell, Hobbs and King on the bench. What does that bench say to you? Pace I tell you. PACE. Up and at 'em. Why would you choose Howard and Fryatt if you want pace? PS: The bench tells me you've left two or your best passers on the sidelines - including your best aerial and attacking central midfielder - together with your fastest central striker as well. I'm not saying that's necessarily wrong. It isn't what I'd do but with the players we've got now there's a multitude of arguably justified options. I just think that we'll start like we did against Luton two seasons back and Blackpool last season - but showing our true colours and going for experience (ie biggest earners). I just hope we don't come unstuck as was the case then and as continued to be the case whenever push came to shove. Cos we never seem to have the bottle to pick our best team. Politics always wins and political places are filled irrespective of true form or what the particular player offers in respect of the balance of the side. By any reasonable yardstick, Gradel, Adams, Porter, Fryatt and King deserve selection. And I really see no reason why we cannot form a good attacking team around them.
