I'm thinking what grounds would be used?

Wembley Stadium - Final Venue. Might be used for some group games.

Old Trafford - Semi Final Venue? More than likely used for alot of group games.

Emirates Stadium - Semi Final Venue?

St James Park - Will be 60,000 soon.

Stadium Of Light - Have agreed planning permisson to take the ground up to 64,000 IF needed.

Anfield/Stanley Park - Will Stanley Park be built in time?

Villa Park - Talking of extending Villa Park to 51,000. Re-devolping the North Stand

Stanford Bridge - Dont think it could be extended. Talk of a new Stadium

Walkers Stadium - I'd say the Walkers could become a mini Old Trafford, Capcity (40,- 50,000).

Pride Park - ? Can be extended to about 44,000.

Thoughts, what grounds would you use?

I'm sure by 2018 there'd be several clubs with grounds reaching the 50,000 mark. I don't think we'd be in with a chance at all unless we become super successful and have to expand.

No way the Walkers would get a game. Wembley, Old Trafford, Emirates, Liverpool and various other Premier League clubs new stadia, St James's Park, an expanded Villa Park, Nottingham's new stadium, Stadium of Light, Stamford Bridge, City of Manchester Stadium.... possibly even the KC Stadium which has excellent facilities, an interesting design and above all is easily expandable. All better options and I could go on. Even taking into account the fact that they'd avoid having two venues in the same city, except London which would probably have two, I don't think the Walkers would be anywhere near the head of the queue.

Will we seriously have the demand for tickets to fill a 45,000 stadium? I think 32,000 is about right for us.

We wouldn't get any matches at a World Cup. Many stadiums would be ahead of ours.

No believe it or not, when this bid was first being talked about the Walkers was definitely one of the grounds included because there needs to be at least 1 ground in each part of the country and from the Midlands it was Villa Park and then out of The Walkers/Ricoh/Pride Park/The City Ground with the Walkers being the favourite.

But obviously it's only if we get an expansion to 45,000 or whatever it can go up to. So obviously we'd need to be a Premier League side for Milan to even think about that! So at this moment in time it's not looking good.

They pick grounds on geographical location, so basically for us to stand a chance, we'd have to have the biggest ground in the East Midlands. High chance of that methinks!

As Burham has said Forest's new stadium in Clifton will be ready by then and will be far bigger than The Walkers.

I don't think extending the Walkers purely for the World Cup would be a good idea, it'd probably be half empty when City play. Maybe if we're a consistant Prem side come 2018, but I wouldn't bet on that.

In any case, the FA would invest into one of the stadiums, it wouldn't go on current status. Nottingham or Derby, more likely the former, would get the nod over Leicester if Forest hadn't already built a new stadium/developed the City Ground.
