Sounds like Dyer had a good game :D

He did until he got excited and lashed one wide when he could have taken a touch, composed himself and watched the away end go beserk.

It must just be me but I thought our whole midfield was poor today apart from maybe the last 20 minutes or so, yet other people seem to be giving them pretty high ratings.

King -6-5- Non-existent up until the last 20 minutes.

Agree completely, I was beginning to think it was just me who saw King's game like that. I only remember a couple of notable touches from him.

He was dead on his feet in the last 5 too.

I missed the first few minutes after trying to be nice and not park in permit-only parking. After over an hour of trundling around trying to find a carpark, then trying to find a backstreet that wasn't permit-only, then going around in circles, getting lost and getting crap directions back until I ended up where I started, I gave up, parked in a residents only bit and got in after ~20 minutes :( On the positive side, didn't get a parking ticket!

Anyway...

Henderson 6. Alternated between the new improved Henderson and the old one.

Gilbert 7. Did the job.

Tunchev 7. A touch generous as he was obviously out of position and at one point got beaten pretty badly, but on the whole a good effort and some nice passing too.

Hobbs 7- ok. Dealt with everything quite well.

Morrison 7 - also ok.

Gradel 6/7 - Very average - tightly marked by a defender who wasn't afraid to get stuck in and with a ref who didn't care, unfortunately restricted any impact. Obviously shouldn't have let it get to him like it did.

Oakley 7 - Good, though not spectacular, got forward towards the end and did okay.

Dyer 8 - Missed a good chance but other than that was rather good and had some fairly decent deliveries, though potentially I just got there in time to see the best of him from the sounds of it.

King 6/7 - Reasonable, got forward reasonably well except for one move where he should have made a run but held back, some good passing and contributed to some good attacking moves, but one or two little errors of judgement. Some pretty poor corners in the second half. A decent performance, but not incisive enough to be anything more.

Howard 8 - Blimey, he can run! Won loads in the air, brought others into it and closed down their defense suprisingly well - at one point he chased a ball down with a genuine turn of pace. More of that please.

Fryatt 8 - Some really good play, got on the end of everything, made some nice runs across their defense and was a right handful for them. Just didn't score.

Dickov 6/7 - Did well compared to some of the strikers out wide we endured last season - but in that position he was nothing special despite one or two moves near the end.

Ref 4 - Rather one sided, missed some obvious fouls, gave things the wrong way, gave a goal kick when Fryatt kept the ball in. No massive blunders, just consistently bad decisions.

MOTM - Steve Howard

Looking at the positives, didn't lose, kept control of the match. Looking at the negatives, couldn't kill them off and its the kind of game that at the end of the season we could find outselves looking back.

Right, first of all i'm going to explain my ratings. No-one gets higher than a 7 after that first half performance. In my view, to get higher than a 7, you need to play consistently well for the whole match.

The first 45 minutes were piss poor. No-body did anything, and we were lucky to go in level at half time. So, anyway...

Hendo - 6 - Hardly a sniff. I'm not sure wether he initally made a cock up to let their striker hit the post, or wether he did well to gather it afterwards.

Gilbert - 6 - Competent, solid, not a lot got past him.

Morrisson - 6 - Again, solid, won lots in the air, distribution was poor though and had a header he could of done better with.

Hobbs - 6 - Decent performance, same as Morrisson really, did the dirty work well.

Tunchev - 6 - He's not a left back, its just a good job that he is probably of a standard which would enable him to play left back in this league. I like him, and thought he did ok in an unfamiliar position, but you can see he is not comfortable there.

Gradel - 5 - A sign of things to come i fear (in the sense that markers will be doubling up on him to nullify his threat). Does he have what it takes to still find a way past? I think so, and i hope so too. If he hasn't, then hes clearly not all hes cracked up to be.

Oakley - 5 - I thought he was poor today after a stormer last week, ans his day was perfectly summed up by the shot he had which was blazed over the bar. He's a lot better than todays performance.

King - 6 - A bit better than Oakley i felt, he worked hard, he should really have scored, its a shame as it could have propelled his confidence to have got the winner.

Dyer - 6.5 - I thought he was pretty good today, worked hard, did a lot of running, put a few decent crosses in, the one for Dickovs glancing header perhaps should have been put away. Also should have scored with a good chance.

Fratt - 6 - Thought he ran the channels well today, did a lot of running, looks very fit now, and i think he had the best chance of the game. He did all the hard work, turned on a sixpence, had the whole goal to aim for, and hit it close to the keeper and in the air, when a placed one in the bottom corner would have been good enough.

Howard - 6 - First half he was shocking, he didnt do a thing, looked like he couldnt be bothered. Second half he was a different player, won everything in the air, caused their defenders massive problems. One great bit of play where he put in a thumping tackle, went on a run down the right, squared it to Oakley who should have buried it. More of the second half performance please Steve (though to be fair that applies to most of them).

Subs:

Dickov - 5 - One chance really, which in fairness i would like to think that he would think he'd put away most of the time. But apart from that he was pretty ineffective on the right.

PEARSON - 6 - Got it wrong in the first half, it was really poor (though Stockport did feck all), but whatever he said at half time worked and we should have went on and won the game.

Fans - 7 - Not a bad turnout, over 2k for fecking Stockport, and the atmosphere was decent.

All in all, we deserved a victory, we had 4 clear cut chances which were wasted. The first half was like a flashback of last season, boring boring Leicester, but in the second half there was a lot more energy and i think Nige had fired a rocket up 'em. It was like chalk and cheese. But if thats the worst we are going to do, then we're looking good. As the old saying goes, win your home games, draw your away games.

How could I forget that?!

Loved that shout Maybes!

Also whoever shouted 'He's so small, like a dog.' had me in stitches for about five minutes!

You must have found a better pub than me. :D

I couldn't find a single watering hole in Edgeley high street serving food.

On top of that the beer tasted dour and the cider they had should never have been allowed the label.

But at least the rain held off, the cafe fish and chips was edible and the match improved to be quite entertaining.

I did tell you about the best chippy in the world before he game.

i thought i made myself clear on the .25 and .75s?

Yeah, but quite frankly, no-one gives a shit.

Loved that shout Maybes!

It was actually "Kick him like a dog".

Nothing seems expensive after Barbers. :D Anyway the Arden Arms it is if there's a next time.

The armoury on the roundabout at top of Castle Street was Ok. Stockport in one bar and our lot in another. The locals seemed friendly and the Robos beer is drinkable if not spectacular.

Ground however was a sign of things to come, depressing, decrepit and lousy facilities, The stewards seemed overwhelmed by it all and I have to say there were a number around me who seemed to be finding it all too much and turned on each other at half time. I cant understand why when we are all supposed to be Leicester fans and it was a solid if unspectacular performance.

I agree with the comments about Howard, won everything and kept running! Gilbert was great in for most of the game but he seemed knackered after about 70 minutes and was losing concentration.

Gradel is going to have to get used to heavy marking and get his frustration under control, Teams may mark him out of games but in doing this they will (like Stockport) put two or even three defenders on him and we must start exploiting the gaps this creates.

If Pearson can solve the strike pair problem and get a couple who understand each other settled in then we could cruise it, otherwise grinding out 0 0 draws in shit heap grounds could be the pattern for the rest of the season.

Oh for the big time that is the championship!!!!!!

Because I am not going to sit and listen to the moronic rantings of an imbecilic twat without telling him why he is an idiot. There's a lot of people who believe we should be coasting this division, playing fluid Premiership-style football - they are cretins. When he took a break from insessantly moaning at Howard (who was our Man of the Match) to start piss-taking anyone attempting to get a bit of atmosphere going in our lack-lustre support is the point at which I suggested he may wish to consider not attending any more matches until we reach the Premiership.

We are all supposed to be Leicester fans - or could we use the term 'supporters'? Isn't it about time we all started actually supporting the sodding team? :dunno:

Yes it is Daggers. The support against the Dons was magnificent, and most fans have their heads screwed on and realise we will find it tough this season. It seemed like we played well in the second half yesterday against, from what I saw on Tuesday, a decent Stockport team. We've got four points from two matches, our best start for four years, and a cup win in the first week of the campaign.

I am looking forward to Saturday, and hope the bloke behind me won't start groaning and whinging at every misplaced pass or overhit cross. We've got to be patient.

Radical idea Dags but I can't see it catching on.

Walking out of the game yesterday some scrote was harping on incessantly about the fact that Leeds would get more than a 0-0 at Stockport and how shit we are. Why bother going?

It proper does my head in I tell you.

So you know who i,m talking about. Was it you that had a go at the bloke on the front row and told him to chill? If so good on yer mate, what I dont understand is why the stewards let him come back to his seat about ten minutes after they had led him away???????

He was practically sucking the ball towards the goal when they hit the post in the hope it'd justify his inane rantings, quite deflated we didn't conceed he was.

For those wondering what he listened to on his iPod in the second half:

  • The Doobie Brothers - What a Fool Believes
  • Monty Python - (How sweet to be) An Idiot
  • Black Eyed Peas - Let's Get Retarded
  • Frank & Nancy Sinatra - Something Stupid

It appears that Howard plays far better away from home, unfortunatley he's going to have to show that form at the Walkers or else the fans will continue to get on his back.
