yes,i went to that game by mini bus,we had a man u fan on board with us,he spent weeks singing that annoying song,

ryan giggs, ryan giggs running down the wing.

that songs so f#####g annoying, but i'm not bitter,

yes man u sang well,

we spent all afternoon drinking in manchester town centre.

seem to remember leicester took 5000 fans.

that was the only time i went old trafford,

seen leicester play man u lots of times and never seen us beat them, iwas by the radio when cottee did them.

The third round of the cup, 1985 at the baseball ground against Burton Albion.

I can't recall seeing their away end as packed as that before, I was well chuffed with that as I live and work with loads of shaggers and burton folk.

A freezing cold day, three goals from Lineker and their keeper swinging the lead to get it replayed at cov.

A good old fashioned fans ground that BBG!

i went to the burton game,as you say,the away end was bursting.

i got on tv as i had a red kagoule on.

a load of derby got tickets for the side bit on the left,no wonder seats went in that direction.

i remember a lot of coins flying towards the pitch.

lineker was lethal that day.

i still can't decide if i was right to boo lineker on his first game back at filbert st with everton.

incidently, all the coin throwing was quite profitable if you got down low in pen 2

arsenal.

iv'e got a vague recolection of leicester beating arsenal in a league game at filbert street.

i think it was during a really bad season, was it john gregory temperarily in charge of the team.

it must have been in the nineties.

b is for barnsley, bolton, bournmouth, brigton, bradford, bristol rovers, the other bristol team, bolton, brentford, burnley and birmingham.

these games provided me with some absolutely fantastic days out, some brilliant weekends by the sea.

and of course, plenty of decent away wins.

My era

Forest away, wearing orange snoods mid 80s (snoods are like scarfs and a good few hundred of us were wearing them)

Cov away 84,On the pitch loads of trouble

Burton at the BBG,been mentioned

Sheff Wed 90s losing 7-1 in the league cup? Shite result great night

poynton blue.

i went to 3 of those games you mention with absolute certainty.

don't think i went to sheff weddy for the 7-1 loss,i liked going there though and went many times.

any game at forest was special, just a shame we did'nt do so well on the pitch.

most of my better memories of forest are from off the pitch.

burtons been mentioned.

cov,iv'e been quite a few times.

the game you mention, with the pitch invasion, was that the day of the 107 in the cov end.

someone pushed me on the pitch just before kick-off and i lost a brand new slazenger jumper around the 18 yard area.

them kop rushes used to come down with some force.

My dad says: 'Do you remember the time when Bob Hazell ran after a player from the other side, chased him around the pitch making monkey noises and the bloke ran off the pitch? He also says, do you remember Ian Banks? All he's been singing all day is Banksie's drank the bitter!

father ted.

your dads knocked me sideways.

i can't remember the bob hazel incident, sounds funny,

also ian banks is throwing me a bit.

i can remember he was from yorkshire, could pass the ball well,

and he occasionally let rip from 20 yards or more.

i know what i need to do,and thats nip to a library for the fossils book,

i need to jog my memory a bit more,as i'm struggling to describe enough details on the games.

Think it was Covs 1st home game as an all seater

Leicester in the home end opp,Cov came on the pitch down the side,Leic seated down the side did the same,as did the Leic in the away end

My school-mate picked up the corner flag and went for the Cov keeper (Steve Ogrizavic)

My mate was the guy who went up to the Cov ticket office for the 107 tickets in the home end!!!!!

Yes I was there, that keeper incident was the biggest load of bollox ever,he was fine afterwards,I don't even think it was Leicester fans but sheepshaggers posing as Burton fans in the tier behind us!

Was that the game when some cov nutter threw the corner flag (pointed end first) into the crowd?

I still think one of the funniest away days has to be the trip to Meadow Lane first match of a new season.Derek Pavis was so proud of his new look ground with 3 brand new shiny stands and he went fookin crakers at us taking the pee....just made things worse of course! :giggle:

yes mate,i know exactly what your saying,

you see,i was on that train,i think we spoke to him earlier,

next time he came up the train, the notebook was out,

the odd person was saying [will he get them]one or 2 who knew him, said he would.

i think we got escorted straight to the ground,

sure enough,he'd done it.

seem to remember leicester lads wer'nt happy anyway,

a leicester lad had been cut badly in a pub.

That was at the time Neil Warnock was in charge at Burton, wasn't it? It's in his character to do dodgy shit like that - We beat them at Highfield Rd anyway.

barnsley

leicester have played here plenty of times in the past 25 years,

we generally take thousands and i reckon the foods spot on,

after hearing barnsley sold the tastiest pies,i could'nt wait to sample one,

now ,just like portsmouth and oldham,at barnsley the wind really whistled,

as my pie was put on the shelf, the wind promptly blew it off,

i remember 2 visits especially to barnsley,

one is the cup game, when we took maybe 4-5 thousand or more,

julian joachim scored what was eventually the bbc goal of the month,

right in front of the away end.

i seem to remember barnsley equalised near the finish, and we eventually went to penalties,

kevin poole had got injured during the game, and it may have affected his agility, either way we were out.

another time at barnsley,we'd got a bit fed up of forever going in the away terraces and seats,

so we decided to give the barnsley mainstand a try.

first half we stood near the tunnel, leicester seats above us,away terracing to our left,

i think leicester took the lead and we jumped up,

second half and barnsley have scored 2 and now lead 2-1

we decide to move up to the corner,by the leicester fans ,when all of a sudden we score,

suddenly,a police horse is careering about on the side terrace, and it looks like we're no longer welcome,

after getting escorted into the away end, coatsworth pops up and bangs in the winner,

3 points at barnsley,a profitable ground for leicester.

Brighton at the Goldstone - 90? 91? Game postponed close to kickoff due to waterlogged pitch. We'd got all the way down there only to find out it had been called off. Kevin Campbell was outside the ground signing autographs. I've still got it somewhere.

Notts County 91? 92? Getting crushed against the wire mesh barrier at the front of the pen when our fans surged through into the side stand when they opened the gates. Probably absolutely **** all at the time but I felt like it was Hillsborough given I was only 7 or 8. I had the cross-hatches from the wire imprinted on my face. Walshie was sent off, that's all I remember. Think it was for an elbow. It was either 1-1 or 2-1 to them though I think.

Forest in 94 getting beat 4-0. Lars Bohinen hat-trick I think. We were garbage. We were in the Upper Bridgfield feeling like twats all game. We were garbage. Got promoted that year.

And then the ultimate, the single greatest away game of my Leicester-supporting life...

August 31st 1991 - Southend away. Wright and Walsh. Absolutely incredible. The sun was out, we were still on a high from the Oxford game that ended the season before. 4 points from the first 2 games and went to Southend in the blazing hot sun, scored two late goals right in front of the City fans on the terrace, the two heroes in the team really, nothing will ever beat that - not even the cup games over the past year or two or the Derby 4-0. That day was something unbelievably special.

yes, we went to that game at brighton,

we had a b and b booked and stayed on the friday night,

as it was throwing down with rain,we decided to head up to the ground saturday morning,

we managed to nip past a portacabin and attended the first pitch inspection,

word was there'd be another inspection later,

up the coast for a pre-match dinner, then we returned to the goldstone ground,

leicester coaches were still turning up,apparently the game had just been called off.

i agree, southend away, the 2-1 win was one of the best, dancing to madness later on in the pub on the seafront,

i'll save my story for later in the thread.
