Great thread. Unfortunetly I wasn't around in those days, But I really wish I could've seen the days of the 80's as a teenager.

Someone said further up (may have been Leicester Ghost) that they were glad to have witnessed those days. Really do wish I could have witnessed them, away days sounded class.

Suprised Ive never heard of that Denton chap if he was that well known, Ive heard of most of the known lads from various other teams.

Wish I could have been involved in some of the pitch invasions too, I dream of being involved in one sometime soon.

I see clips and pictures of those times and tbh it seems like a lot of passion has been lost and the atmosphere just doesnt seem the same. Plus too much cctv :P

I tell you what, Paul Fitzpatrick was absolutly garbage but that diving header at Notts County to win in my 1st ever City away game made him a hero with me !!

great one that always sticks in my mind is stoke away 95 play off final 2nd leg..

mass pitch invasion after the game by them.. horses had to for a barrier to seperate it all.. the players couldnt get off..

then the walk back to the car was threw all terrace streets and alleys..

Visiting Eagle.......hopefully meet you in your pub on January 2nd.

Great video's been put up...i tend to struggle to recall what i was up to a couple of days ago but without shutting my eyes i can instantly remember sitting in the Portsmouth pub watching the lairy locals, walking to the ground trying to avoid the stares when it felt the whole town was against us....and it was,.........and Southend....loads of instant memories, what a day from 7am meeting up around Woodgate and getting in the pub just outside the Coastal town for around 11,full of expectation as always with no sign of any negativity...we believed we were going to win or it would have been daft travelling otherwise...............Blackburn,another one that stands out......in the pub before the game,a large quiet pub that provided meals,...until one of our singers performed some Al Jolson for some reason that now escapes me,...quick call in the off license then a wander around the ground....then feeling very privilaged to be escorted back up the Leicester end by the mounted officers......the game.....then Blackpool to celebrate.....happy days......

Ibleedleicester....pitch invasions are spontanious...usually...we may get one this season but the ingrediants and conditions have to be right. :trumpet:

Managed 3 trips over the past season.....great day at Palace, apart from the first 45 minutes of the game, very interesting nose around Lewisham in the morning at Christmas but alas another loss,Bedner,...unbelievable that day.......and then a very enjoyable trip with friends old and new down to West London and the Champions elect to see us perform well enough to win but again come home with nothing.....................................we'll do it this season.....no worries.

FA cup Oldham in the snow lose to a Young'y hatrick.

Shrewsbury at home 3rd round FA cup. 3 down at half time my mate says don't worry we will score five in the second half. you never heard so many fits of laughter in pen 2. But we did and had 3 keepers that day. But can anyone name them without looking it up?????? (Be honest)

Mark Wallington started in goal until Chic Bates studded him somewhere around the groin region....he gamely carried on but the injury obviously hampered him and had a lot to do with the two goals we soon conceded,

Next between the sticks was Youngy who showed he had a good safe pair of hands until that little Shrewsbury forward took him out inmid-air and knocked Youngy out,

Little Stevie Lynex, what can you say,he went in goal and hung around until Youngy came back round to the land of the living and back in goal went Youngy......Obviously Lynex had spent his short time in goal straining at the leash because after keeping a clean sheet he then took up his position on the wing and ripped the full back to shreds......Lineker and Jimmy Melrose knew where the goal was and did the rest......great all round team performance with the fans playing their part with the atmosphere and roaring Leicester on..

I've spent the last 20 minutes trying to think about all the amazing away days I had in the early 90's and it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It's possibly one of the only only times I wish I was older than I am as it would have been good to be able to get leathered during these heedy days but I was only about 11 and I preferred to drink in parks than pubs.

One of the stand out games was Tranmere away play-off 1st leg in 1994.

About 7 of us travelled up there in my Dads mates Discovery, I was in the boot with all the tins and the cobs and me Rothmans football year book.

It was the 1st time i'd ever been to Merseyside and I was mesmerised by the 'beauty' of the place, Birkenhead being a particular hot spot. We got in to this pub that was possibly one of the horriblest places i've still ever been in and i've been in some shockers. There was about a dozen people in there including us and a stripper, no one thought it appropriate to remove the 10 year old. Start 'em early.

We got to the ground and the one thing that struck me about Prenton Park was how steep the steps were in the away end. Having gone back there 2 or 3 times since, it still kills me stomping up there after swiggin' all day.

Gavin Ward was a hero, pulling off one of the best saves i've seen. They were far the better side than us but we'd done a job and you could tell that Tranmere weren't happy.

Haha, i've just remembered what happened to my Dad at half-time. We were standing talking to one another in the stands and I could hear running water of some sort, my Dad turned round to see some pissed up twat having a piddle all down the back of his chair and coat. He got chinned.

3 days later we did them at Filbert St and that set us up for a date with Derby at Wembley. The memories never fade.

Exeter away in the FA Cup, night match and we had a few beers in Leicester before we set off,. Got in my mates `Mini clubman` and the bloody car never got off St Matthews estate... Hired a minibus, took about 6 hours to get there, got beat 3.1, Kellow hat trick (he passed away a couple of weeks ago) stood in an open end in the freezing cold, got back to leicester at 5 am.... Dont we just love our team eh!!!! :scarf:

Anyone go to Charlton away at the end of the 91/92 season. We could have got promoted that day (I think). There must have been 10,000 Leicester fans, we were everywhere inside the ground, pretty much chaos, I miss those days.

Was that when it ended 2-1?

Wow what a great thread! Will have a read through of this properly tonight.

Going to have to have a think to be honest of all the 90's ones, what a time that was to be following the team, remember 7,000 crammed in at Barnsley (seemed to happen every year), the Blackburn 1-0 when the keeper kicked it (or what it Middlesboro) into Kevin Russell. The Peterboro streakers, it was endless, every week was an adventure.

Anyone remember the old Wheres the money gone fanzines?

Charlton Life.....one of their websites had a thread on this game a while ago which i happened to stumble on,they were still in a little bit in awe of the size of our support that day after all these years...........we not only filled all the pens in the South Bank behind the goal, but seemed to have filled the side stand as well....by the time we fell out of a pub on Barking road and arrived at the ground we learned that kick off had been delayed and there was just 2 turnstiles open right at the far end of the Chicken Run..

The match started at either 3-10 or 3-15 and we easily outnumbered the HOME fans in the ground....unfortunately the size of support won't win points...we missed a penalty when Milsey hit a post and little Charlton worked their socks off to win 2-0.......it happens.
