Basically, I've seemingly lost my passport like an idiot and need some ID. Don't really want to be shelling out another £80 for a replacement so any ideas?

Not fakes obviously, as I'm actually 18. ;)

NUS cards aren't reliable and it's the same for Citizen Cards etc.

Just get a provisional driver's license.

Went out tonight without ID for the first time since I turned 18. First time I got ID'd since I turned 18 = /

Yeh, someone else has recommended that.

Will look into it.

Two years ago I was id'd in a Spa shop in Louth (Lincolnshire) for fags! I was 28 at the time, I have since quit smoking and never graced a spa again!

You know something.

Making it 100% the law to ID someone buying cigarettes would actually be a pretty decent deterrent I reckon, it'd get really annoying. It'd turn over a few casual smokers I reckon.

Does anywhere still ID people now? I've been getting in pubs and clubs since I was about 14 with hardly any trouble. Maybe people are just looking younger but I swear half the people in clubs aren't 18. Feel like a t**t for saying it as I'm only 19 myself lol.

In rough neighbourhoods (aka Bedford  ) we get ID'd everywhere. Main reason was on New Years a guy had his drink spiked in a club, was dragged to a cahspoint, and when it turned out he had no money in his account, he was beaten and then thrown in the river (subsequently died). The guy was 17, and those who did it to him were also under-age.

Well she claimed you needed to be 21 to buy fags, and I didn't look 21 (not sure if a compliment or not), not wanting to cause a scene, as there was 4 people already snigering behind me I said to her I casually walked off...

But yes I agree a good deterrent!

I got ID'd the night before my 18th birthday. The next time I got ID'd was about a year later. Bastards!

Anyway, Burnham's right, get a provisional license. It's cheaper than a passport. Apparently it costs £50 now! It was £28 when I started driving and that was only five years ago!

I got mine about a year and a half ago and it was about £30-40

I've got a question about ID too... My driving license is away with the DVLA since I passed my test, so I've only got my passport to use, prob is the pictures from back when I was 14 so I dont exactly look that similar lol. Just wondered how reliable it was to get in places etc. with a picture from when I was fairly young.

They've been rising it all up. In the mere 5 months I spent learning to drive, the price of the license, the test, the theory, the lessons, it all went up.

So it increased in price be £2 from 2003-2007, and then by £20 between 2007 and 2008? Ridiculous.

Take your bank card with you just in case, That has your initials and last name on as will your passport.

I was 17 on my driving license picture. That was 5 years ago and I look completely different. Still works fine though. Listen to Bert's advice about the bank card just to be safe.

wouldn't you just be better renewing your passport, i'm sure you'll want to go abroad sometime in the next ten years----

over here you have your photo and national number (which includes your DOB) on the back of your bank card and, no, there is not a problem with identity theft here

Obviously I'll get a new Passport eventually but I need some ID soon and can't really afford to be paying that much at the moment.

It's a fooking pain in the arse here, but fair enough.

The only place i don't get ID'd here is in the Pad.

Plus it's really not ideal to take your passport out with you, especially since you'll invariably be getting pissed. If your passport is actually lost rather than misplaced then you need to report it asap to reduce the possibility of anyone else using your passport or your identity

Exactly. lol

I'm pretty sure it's still in the house and I'm going to have a proper look in the bureau tomorrow. I've looked everywhere else.
