samlcfc Posted 8 September 2008 Posted 8 September 2008 Me and my mate were tlkin bout gareth Barry the other day and how we thought he was pretty overated. Dont get me wrong, he is a great player but not as gd as people think he is... People such as benitez who thought a great deal would be to sell alonso for 16 mil so he could spend another two million on top to replace him with Barry. Whereas I think that alonso is as gd as if not better than Barry. And goin by what I saw of him 4 England he is not gd enough to be in that squad either.... Is ny1 in the England squad gd enough nyway writing on an iPod so cnt b bothered to write nymore so over to you lot. Who springs to ure mind wen you think of overated players?
Uncle Albert Posted 8 September 2008 Posted 8 September 2008 Barry R. Ferdinand Fabregas Nasri Robinho Ronaldinho Messi Many many more.
Darkzzz_ Posted 8 September 2008 Posted 8 September 2008 This thread has been done! I think this thread is over rated!
martyn Posted 8 September 2008 Posted 8 September 2008 Yes Barry has been particularly awful for England recently as well, just plodding around doing nothing of note...makes you realise how much Owen Hargreaves is missed. Fabregas is not overrated per se, but his performances in the 2nd half of last season were not deserving of the praise he received. I've never seen Zlatan Ibrahimovic play well, and I always thought Totti was overrated as well.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 September 2008 Posted 8 September 2008 How is Gareth Barry over rated? On the strength of a silly money offer by some Espanyol bandit? Let's just forget at least half a decade of brilliant consistentcy in the world's best league then.

On the strength of a silly money offer by some Espanyol bandit?Let's just forget at least half a decade of brilliant consistentcy in the world's best league then. Jog on. Half a decade? Yet he has just become a regular now? The biggest overated player is Berbatov. Deary me £30 million.
Darkzzz_ Posted 8 September 2008 Posted 8 September 2008 BarryR. Ferdinand Fabregas Nasri Robinho Ronaldinho Messi Many many more. I have really started to like you as well.... You have to be joking..... The boy is a genius. Ronaldinho was untouchable but lost his way.... If you come back and say Ronaldo is better than Messi, you will disappoint me.

Mate im not going to argue but Ronaldo is a cut above Messi and nobody should disagree with that. I will ask you one question could you see Messi scoring 30 League goals like Ronaldo did?
Tommeh Posted 8 September 2008 Posted 8 September 2008 BarryR. Ferdinand Fabregas Nasri Robinho Ronaldinho Messi Many many more. I cannot be arsed to debate, but that list is unbelivable. Ronaldinho these days I agree and also Barry if I'm honest. Fabregas and Ferdinand were the two of the best prem players last season. Nasri has played 3 competitive game for Arsenal and done reasonably well, I doubt you saw him much for Marsellie and he certainly didn't get a chance at Euro 08. And Messi!! Only Kaka, Torres and Roanldo come close to him in the world.

NO he has been playing consistently in the Villa team for at least 5 years. It's just that alot of those games may be out of his favoured role because, such is his talent, he suffers from the "Mr Versatile" tag.
samlcfc Posted 8 September 2008 Author Posted 8 September 2008 sorry, didn't know it had been done, forgot to the do the search thing. First topic post. Same excuse for the text speak ha.

Yes I actually Thomas I have seen Nasri play and he was average at best, Fabregas ok decent enough but how people rave about him is a joke. Ferdinand makes to many little mistakes to known as world class and how people go on about him he is overaterd. Messi is overated Thomas, but unfortunetly you have fallen into the trap, just because he can take a player on doesnt not mean you are world class. There are many more better players than Messi in the world but I dont just think a good player is someone who scores alot or is an attacking player.

On the strength of a silly money offer by some Espanyol bandit?Let's just forget at least half a decade of brilliant consistency in the world's best league then. Brilliant consistency is an extremely strong appraisal. Whenever I've seen him play against Leicester he has been average at best, and that includes the Carling Cup games against us recently where our team was dog shit. And consider his impact on the premiership against Lampard's impact, they're in different leagues but everyone loves Barry and everyone hates Lampard.

Exactly, Lampard scores frequently and assists for Club and Country. Lampard was voted Englands best player for two seasons in a row but now everyone hates him, what has Gareth Barry got for people to arselick him compared to Lampard, Carrick and Hargreaves? Got to be a joke. Why exactly? Because I dont follow most people about licking Messi's arse?
Samilktray Posted 8 September 2008 Posted 8 September 2008 Why exactly?Because I dont follow most people about licking Messi's arse? He may not have the goal scoring record of Ronaldo, but the sheer footballing ability he has is unmatched at the minute. As for saying he isnt world class... well thats just laughable.
Darkzzz_ Posted 8 September 2008 Posted 8 September 2008 Mate im not going to argue but Ronaldo is a cut above Messi and nobody should disagree with that. I will ask you one question could you see Messi scoring 30 League goals like Ronaldo did? Ok then..... I never disputed Ronaldo scoring goals like he did, but anyone with a decent knowledge on football would agree that Messi is the better player and in the champions league he proved that against Ronaldo, who goes missing in big games.... Messi hat trick against Madrid, Genius, never seen Ronaldo destroy one of the top teams on his own. Messi run from his own half and score.... Nope, never seen Ronaldo do that either. Ok he is a good footballer, although arguably one of the biggest tossers to walk the earth. Ronaldo would never score 30 goals in La Liga.... That is one thing I will guarantee, I can't wait to see him fall on his ass with players who are not afraid of him like most are here.... This video is the greatest thing to happen to Ronaldo..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tfi_D3g4l64...feature=related Ronaldo better than messi... Best joke I have heard for years!
Uncle Albert Posted 8 September 2008 Posted 8 September 2008 He may not have the goal scoring record of Ronaldo, but the sheer footballing ability he has is unmatched at the minute. As for saying he isnt world class... well thats just laughable. I dont class him as World Class, so what? You think he has more footballing ability than Ronaldo? Well thats the only laughable thing here.

Lampard was voted Englands best player for two seasons in a row but now everyone hates him, what has Gareth Barry got for people to arselick him compared to Lampard, Carrick and Hargreaves? Could be the fact that Barry looks like he gives a flying one when playing for his country. Just a guess. Perhaps I am being too strong in my approval of him but he is a quality midfielder in my opinion.
Samilktray Posted 8 September 2008 Posted 8 September 2008 I dont class him as World Class, so what? You think he has more footballing ability than Ronaldo? Well thats the only laughable thing here. Maybe not footballing ability but technically hes more gifted. But its all opinions at the end of the day, and Ronaldo is one hell of a player when attacking teams, no arguing that.
