Fez of Mahrez Posted 12 September 2008 Posted 12 September 2008 I remember reading it in an interview with him and have tried to avoid referring to him as Bruno for the most part but it's difficult when a nickname sticks. Personally I don't think it's racist though - the only reason I avoided it was because he didn't like it.
Hackneyisblue Posted 12 September 2008 Author Posted 12 September 2008 my point is in Emile Heskey, Gary Lineker or Muzzy Izzet (to name but 3) didn't like being referred to by a certain name the club wouldn't call them that, the Chelsea Dagger thing is totally different, yes the majority on here don't like it but that doesn't mean the majority of fans in general don't And yet he went to Liverpool and asked not to be called Bruno, was that because Leicester fans had claimed it, perhaps he would have preferred the Liverpool fans to call him Uncle Tom or Rastus.
Hackneyisblue Posted 12 September 2008 Author Posted 12 September 2008 So now your stereotyping people who own corner shops. How is calling Emile Heskey, Brunio - now hes Italian.. \ I meant bruno, don't get the race police on me. / racist? Its pathetic. He may not like being called Bruno, fair enough. But it's not racist. If a black man called me Peter Crouch for example, would that make him racist? No. I'm not making it look like black people can't be racist either, its just an example. No it would make the black man very stupid, so ...........
Manwell Pablo Posted 12 September 2008 Posted 12 September 2008 I tend to call him Heskey. Or occasionally Heskeh, if I'm in Coalville.
Jimmy Posted 12 September 2008 Posted 12 September 2008 And yet he went to Liverpool and asked not to be called Bruno, was that because Leicester fans had claimed it, perhaps he would have preferred the Liverpool fans to call him Uncle Tom or Rastus. or perhaps he wanted to move on with his career and wanted a completly fresh start either way it's not racist as you claimed just a nickname he doesn't particularly like, I had a few myself when I was at school for instance. People like you are what's wrong with this country, taking offence on behalf of someone else is 1 of the stupidest things to do, if HE finds it offensive he has never publicly stated so, just that he doesn't like it. We used to Called Robbie Savage Lily, was that homophobic then?
shlyser Posted 12 September 2008 Posted 12 September 2008 good morning I am French, somebody can say to me on which chaine I can look at the match of leicester tomorrow, because I want to see performances of my friends max alain
Rich Fox Posted 12 September 2008 Posted 12 September 2008 ... Emile Heskey not fooking Bruno. He hated the nickname Bruno. Question to those that use the term Bruno: Do you think all blacks look alike? If he ever thought about coming back and everyone started chanting Bruno he'd probably go elsewhere. You must be a real sad git to start a thread like this you should get a job on one of our many looney left wing councils. Of course people chanting bruno were not being racist. This country is a much poorer place because of people like you.
Hackneyisblue Posted 12 September 2008 Author Posted 12 September 2008 or perhaps he wanted to move on with his career and wanted a completly fresh starteither way it's not racist as you claimed just a nickname he doesn't particularly like, I had a few myself when I was at school for instance. We used to Called Robbie Savage Lily, was that homophobic then? ****s sake, he's said he doesn't like it, why on earth would you want to keep calling him it then? Your nicknames at school were probably done to wind you up, are you winding Heskey up? The Lily thing was because ... well you know why, there is an entertainer and the name etc etc Heskey looks nothing like Bruno apart from the fact they are both black. And as for me taking offence on behalf of someone else, I'd hazard a guess that if someone started calling Maxi a french twat tomorrow that you may take offence on his behalf. It really isn't or shouldn't be that difficult to understand HE DOESN'T LIKE BEING CALLED BRUNO!!!!
Zingari Posted 12 September 2008 Posted 12 September 2008 good morning I am French, somebody can say to me on which chaine I can look at the match of leicester tomorrow, because I want to see performances of my friends max alain someone will probably start a matchday thread tomorrow and there is usually a link posted for you to listen to the match on the local radio ; there isn't anywhere to see it other than at the walkers stadium i believe
Webbo Posted 12 September 2008 Posted 12 September 2008 good morning I am French, somebody can say to me on which chaine I can look at the match of leicester tomorrow, because I want to see performances of my friends max alain FFS will somebody tell this bloke which chaine he can look at?

Try reading it again, I said he didn't like being called Bruno, I never said it was racist. When someone asked if I thought they were racist I said that I thought they were daft, a bit like you. And the country is poorer because I am sensitive to other people's feelings? No, this country is poorer because people have no thought for anyone but themselves and their own enjoyment and fook everyone else.

They don't actually exist anymore and haven't done since Blair swept them out of power and then the tories ended up running most councils after the last elections. Does your dad read the mail or the sun? You must be a real sad git to start a thread like this you should get a job on one of our many looney left wing councils. lavrentis Posted 12 September 2008 Posted 12 September 2008 FFS will somebody tell this bloke which chaine he can look at?
Joe. Posted 12 September 2008 Posted 12 September 2008 I've never realised to the great extent of how good a name Emile is up until now.
GLC Posted 12 September 2008 Posted 12 September 2008 I read the sun, does that make me racist? im confused
The Reverend Posted 12 September 2008 Posted 12 September 2008 I'm pretty sure that Emile Heskey would think that most of the posts on this subject are thoughtless as well.I had always thought theterm Bruno was suspect and not flatering and this was confirmed by someone on another board who knows him. Yes, i regularly refer to Kerrea Gilbert, Max Gradel and Lloyd Dyer as Bruno. I am a huge racist. You are a complete tool. I like it how you completely dodge my response. Whys that i wonder? Right, ENGAGE BRAIN. Emile Heskey having the nickname Bruno has nothing to do with race - if he doesnt like it, fair enough, i'll personally try and stop using it. But it has absolutely fck all to do with race. He is a very big guy, as Frank Bruno is. Yes he's black, so fcking what? I'm sure the kids at school call lanky lads Crouch. If a black kid calls a lanky white kid Crouch, is he racist? Course he is'nt and you know it. This is exactly the sort of thing that infuriates me, PC tossers like you trying to tell me that i'm a racist. Go and crawl back under the politically correct rock from whence you came.
Tabou Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Wow I cannot believe I missed this. Last night, I was with Bruno/Emile/Leroy. As we sat there, smoking weed, drinking redstripe and listening to Reggae, he told me that he has no problem with being called Bruno. Also, I saw Muzzy Izzett in the Kebab shop, and Paul Henderson on his was home from training riding a kangaroo.

And he was at city whilst we 'punched above our weight' and he deliverd 'many a knock out blow' to the big boys. fook, I'm boxer phobic. To ad to the Rev's point, Bruno was a term of endearment from the fans based on a fellow sporting icon of the time with many similar attributes. Right, I'm off to the game now, just got to find my white cloak and pointy hat.

Ill have a crisp fiver at even money you were stood in the cop at filbert street like the rest of us singing 'Bruno,Bruno' back in the day when he played at Filbert Street, singing it as he warmed up turned around and clapped at us for chanting 'Bruno,Bruno' Either that or your a lil skamp that never witnessed him grace Filbert Street with Stevie Claridge (Does anyone remember that back heel 'our Bruno' did to set up Stevie Claridge for that goal against Man Utd, I believe it was a Carling Cup match!?)
Shrenchel Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 I´m sure Emile would laugh his fooking chops off at how much a disabled the geezer that started this topic is. Get some hobbies mate.
