I can't recall them paying it all back yet - so who did they lend from? Will they want the debt paid up? (True there's a fair bit of collateral with Manchester Utd.) The other question is - if HBOS and Lloyds are to merge, creating one big bank that can whip the market, especially if/when things get better, what will stop them having a monopoly - would they be forced to split up / downsize after that? Think how much they could charge for going over you overdraft all missing a mortgage payment if they were the only major player!
