I've never seen his arse but I know he's called Yogi bear for a reason. :D (& with AIG sponsoring Manu)

I have a friend is a single Mum to four kids. She has a very good job and sends all of them to private school with the loot she makes.

To say all single Mums are broke is very stupid. I detect the comment was made by a recent experience. Did you chat up a single Mum, buy her drinks to find at the end of the night you went your seperate ways much to your annoyance? Did you resent the money you spent?

No you fool

I meant the title

'Guarenteed Protection'

The link is about how your savings are insured. But I was referring to a stereo type single mum, who has ended up with a kid down to not using any form of protection.

Wasn't really that funny, but how it got a reaction from people is funny lol

Why did you say "its about savings" then rather than its about protection? lol

I would imagine that the administrators would look to recoup the outstanding debt as quickly as possible or it would be sold to a third party. You certainly wouldn't get away with not paying it as the money you owe will be vital to paying off the creditors that have a claim on the company's assets (including your mortgage).

Balls, I started re-using that overdraft recently and hoped it'd just disappear.

As with most things in Life, I offer you this advice from my professional opinion:-

Fake your own death.

And thanks to your advice I've now got a massive Cockney style funeral to pay for with all the horses and that, and I'm still alive.

Cheers

You should have faked your death by dying in a fire.

Just passing by and saw this thread. Interesting. I am more worried about the banking job market when I get back from travels!

OK first of all forget the RBS rumours. They've messed up on the sub prime market but they are a cash rich bank. However they won't be doing any more of this takeover malarky.

HBoS are too big to fail. Quite simply, or to put it more accurately they underpin too much of the UK financial system to fail. This takeover by Lloyds has clearly been driven down from a government level, as Lloyds are probably the only bank who could manage this right now, and the goverment don't want another Northern Rock.

What does interest me is what now happens to Bradford & Bingley. To me, they are still in big trouble, and Lloyds originally expressed an interest and of course will not happen now they are taking over HBoS. I would expect if any bank is to fail it will be B&B.

Just for the record, I don't think HBos were actually on their way out, I think the share price has been driven down largely by speculation

This would be a fair bet due to the way in which B&B lent their money.

Their intermediary arm , Mortgage Express, almost specialised in BTL and High loan-to-value (100%+ lending). This would constitute what alot of the media call 'Bad Debt'.

These are two of the 'High risk' areas of mortgage lending.

They have almost 'Thrown all their eggs in one basket', and now that basket has broken.

No one suspected AIG to fail, but it's taken a massive bail out from the US federal reserve to save it.....

Lets not forget that they are American...

All my cash is with Barclays... and they are taking over what is left of that American bunch... can't remember the name now... but they are, were, big so it's got to be a positive move! :D

It almost makes me pleased I have no money in the bank.

What about your insurance and pensions etc, surely your not relying on your only one good kidney for a rainy day??? :dunno:

What about the smaller banks\building societies, such as the Chelsea, COv, C&G etc, hwo well do they fair?????

Coventry- Only ever lent to the right people anyway, on relatively high rates, so will always be ok. Their Business Development Manager told me this morning that it has been a fantastic year so far, so , good?

Chelsea - Shit lender with shit mortgages.

C&G - Service is so poor they only get 1 in 6 mortgages through anyway. But if this Halifax/Lloyds merger does go ahead, they might start lending more aggresively as they are a division of Lloyds. With Halifax's potential market share due to increase to around 40%, they could be a lender with alot to offer.

Chesire BS & The Derbyshire are currently in talks with Nationwide about a take over.

The biggest problem is price fixing. If all these proposed take overs complete, having 3/4 big finance houses bossing the majority of the mortgage market means competition will be kept to a minimum.

Not good for the consumer in my opinion.

The consumer's been fecked by the government anyway, so this will not make a difference, they probably won't notice it anyway!! Fecking consumers!!!
