Many players get caught offside.

I think Howards been caught offside as much as Fryatt this season.

Wahey! Somebody else who thought Adams played well (bar the over enthusiastic crosses obviously)

Akinbiyi was much faster and stronger, but Fryatt is technically much better.

I don't think he was comparing him to Akinbiyi as a player, just commenting that League One is his level (like Akinbiyi had his own level), and the Championship is too much for him. Fair point in my opinion.

Yes Hans Larsson from Fakenham.

At first when he came he said " Ade Akinbiyi - Matty Fryatt." Which to me he was comparing him to Fryatt. But never the less when he got into it, he did have a good point.

I think Fryatt's ability to hold the ball up has improved no end this season and that to me indicates his strength is getting better as well. As is his pace (although still considerably slow) as for not having a footballing brain, I disagree. That was always one of his strong points, finishing and being greedy were always his weaknesses for me along with a lack of pace.

Why we are seriously moaning about Fryatt I don't know, you'll not get a better replacement for less than a million for this level.

It perhaps sounds daft but it's still hard to judge Fryatt's potential.

Several things have helped him this season in ways that would benefit any good striker.

He's playing and at a lower level, he's got a regular strike partner, he's playing with wingers who are top quality for Division One, there is some support from behind and Fryatt already knew that he could score at the current level.

He is holding the ball up more and is lasting the game longer, partly because the pace of Division One is not so demanding but also because Pearson has got everyone fitter.

As far as this season is concerned I have no concerns at all. He'll keep scoring and we'll keep picking up points.

Whether he will go on to suceed at Championship level is something else. Several of the above factors should help do better than previously but whether his lasting limitations - lack of pace, physical presence and awareness - will still hold him back I don't know.

Let's hope not.

I wouldn't question his awareness - on the contrary I think he has good instincts and someone so limited in pace and heading ability and with a tendency to constantly shoot straight at the keeper, relies precisely on that quality to acquire his goals
