Agreed that he is class but not the best for me. Last night 57 passes. 100% pass completion. Like you say mate never get's booked and doesnt give silly fouls away. And he is easily the best defender at Liverpool. If you think Agger or Skrtel are better then there is something wrong. Vidic is the best defender in the League for me. So good. Wins alot and never seems to lose a tackle or lose his position. Bags a few aswell. Carvalho is very underated aswell. Carvalho and Vidic are both underated just because Ferdinand and Terry somehow get all the plaudits just because they are England's number one pairing. And Richards is know where near as good as people are saying he is, definetly not in the top five anyways.

sdb Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 I'm not doubting that Carragher is a top class centre back but people are massively underestimating Skrtle and Agger here. Ability wise they are (imo) as good as Carragher, probably better. Perhaps they lack the mentality and experience of JC but both are absolutely brilliant imo. I'd be watching over my shoulder if i were him.
SamL Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 My top 3 are Vidic, Carvalho and Carragher. I wouldn't class Micah Richards as one of the leagues best defenders for a few years yet. Yes he's promising, but he's still got a long way to go in my opinion. He's still young but has the ability to become a very good defender.

Sharner's been injured and I think Bruce is leaving Bramble in on merit/current form. It's a nice thing to see but TB will blatantly cost Wigan points v soon, and i'd change them asap! As for Richard Dunne, come on people. Good yes, top 5? Err no.

There are so many better defenders in the League than that numpty. A. Cole, Clichy, Bosingwa, Agger, Skrtel, Woodgate, Alex, Belletti, Wes Brown just to name a few. Plus the other five on my list.
