Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 Would anyone be interested in helping me with an experiment? As some of you may know, I am a fully qualified Hypnotherapist and ‘Emotional Freedom Technique’ Advanced Practitioner (EFT). I've been thinking of making this thread for a while as it could be a bit of fun, but also it could really help some of you with any problems you have, however big or small they are. Anyway, obviously I cannot administer Hypnotherapy via FoxesTalk. But I can teach you the basics of EFT, which if you apply it to yourself then you will witness the results and let me tell you, they can be phenomenal. Reading Granno's 'Confidence' thread has given me the kick up the arse to make this, something like a lack of confidence or self esteem is something that both Hypnotherapy and EFT work especially well with. I have only just read that thread, hence I would have offered Granno the opportunity to overcome those issues with EFT and he'd probably been able to overcome those in a matter of minutes effortlessly. Anyway, I want to keep it quite simple to start with, so that people can get an idea of the potential of EFT. To explain EFT as simple as possible, it’s basically Acupuncture but without the needles. It works on the basis that all negative emotions are caused by a disruption in a person’s energy system. If the disruption in the energy system is removed, then the negative emotions will disappear and therefore the problem will be removed. This is done by tapping on different parts of the body, whilst focusing in on the ‘issue/negative emotion’. If we take a negative emotion such as Fear of Spiders, when somebody with that fear see’s or thinks of a spider they become anxious and stressed. What’s happening there is, the disruption in their energy system is causing a ‘zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt’ and that triggers the negative emotion response. Once we remove that ‘zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt’ through balancing out the energy system, when the person sees a spider or thinks about one, the negative response will not be present due to the energy system not triggering the ‘zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt’. That might sound a little confusing, but for this to work, we don’t even need to worry about that or believe in it. Now then, the tapping procedure is very simple and easy to do once you have got the hang of it. As I’ve said, it might seem strange but just suspend your judgement for a short while. All I suggest is that you give it a try, and if it works, then great, if it doesn’t then there may be a few reasons why it hasn’t worked and that can be easily rectified. I am not lying when I say, this technique works for over 80% of people on a never ending amount of emotional and physical problems. If you want to read more about EFT, other than what I am informing you of here, then please go to the website EFT Website EFT Procedure Firstly we need to identify what the issue is. Writing down any thoughts, feelings etc that you get from the ‘issue’ this information is then used to make phrases to keep the person tuned in to the ‘issue’ whilst tapping. You need to give the ‘issue’ a number in intensity on a scale of 0 – 10 (with 0 being no intensity and 10 being maximum intensity). The reason this is done is so that after the rounds of tapping, we can gauge whether the EFT is helping or not. If it is then we know the procedure is ok, if it doesn’t then we need to make some slight changes. Once the above is done, we move on to the EFT Set Up. This is done by creating an affirmation and saying it out loud or under your breath (if you don’t want to say it in public!) this corrects Psychological Reversal, which is present in about 40% of us and if people have that, then it makes it increasingly difficult to achieve what you want in life as this sabotages everything you do. (sound familiar? I have it, but with EFT it smashes it to pieces inside 20 seconds). An example of an affirmation is as follows: ‘Even though I have this pain in my back, I deeply and completely accept myself’ This is repeated 3 times, whilst tapping on the karate chop point (basically an inch below the bottom of your little finger on the side) with your index and middle finger from your dominant hand. All affirmations start with the ‘Even though I have this………..’ and end with ‘I deeply and completely accept myself’ I could spend hours explaining exactly why this is said and done, but it’s not really necessary. Unless you are interested?! Ha-ha. Once the EFT Set Up is done, the EFT Sequence is performed. This is done by tapping on various parts of the body, with the index and middle finger of your dominant hand, whilst saying the reminder phrase out loud or under your breath. The reminder phrase is usually just a shortened version of the EFT Set Up Affirmation. For example: ‘Even though I have this pain in my back, I deeply and completely accept myself’ The reminder phrase would be ‘this pain in my back’ and this phrase is repeated at each tapping point. Tapping Points: Eye Brow (on the corner near the bridge of your nose) Side of Eye (in between socket of the eye and the temple) Under The Eye (an inch under your eye) Under The Nose (under nose, above top lip) Chin (middle part of chin under bottom lip) Collar Bone (an inch to the left or right of the dip in the centre of your collar bone) Under Arm (on your side in line with nipples) You tap on each of these points in sequence, roughly 7-10 taps on each point (don’t worry too much about the exact amount though) whilst repeating the reminder phrase to tune in to the ‘issue’. Once you have completed the round of tapping, you need to re-assess the level of intensity on a scale of 0-10 (***you should already be able to feel a decrease). If there has been a decrease, but it isn’t yet a 0, then you repeat the whole procedure. Both the EFT Setup and EFT Sequence, but with a slight alteration to the wording. The change to the wording is simple, you just rephrase it to: ‘Even though I STILL have some of this………………… (back pain), I deeply and completely accept myself’. (whilst tapping on the karate chop and repeating the set up affirmation 3 times) The reminder phrase when tapping on the various points would be ‘this remaining pain in my back….’ Or whatever it is you are working on. (whilst tapping on the points roughly 7-10 times each point). You repeat the whole procedure this way until the intensity has gone to a zero or as near as possible to that, i.e. the ‘issue’ has gone. If it doesn’t go completely, it might do later on. But stop when you are happy with progress or you feel the need to stop. *** If after you have done the whole EFT Procedure, the ‘issue’ hasn’t got any better or in extreme cases it feels like it’s got worse, then we just need to amend parts of the procedure and add in some further stages. I shall go in to this in detail if and when this happens with people. As I have said, this technique can be used on almost anything and people can have success with it. One of the quickest problems to demonstrate it’s effectiveness is with pain, may it be a headache, a bad back, stomach ache etc. So if anybody has a pain of some sort please try it on that and report back to me if you feel any subsiding of the pain or hopefully you feel the pain disappear. I would be very keen to work with any issue or problem however big or small it is and people can either PM me the details or if they are happy to put them in this thread, I will respond with the course of action and let’s see how we get on. Obviously there are some issues that might be very complex and trying to work through them without proper interaction might prove difficult, but it’s worth a go and if need be I might be able to arrange meeting up with you or conduct the session over the phone (which works almost just as well as face to face, once the technique is learnt). Please feel free to ask any questions about this, it may seem quite complicated and I’ll try to refresh and clarify the procedure as simply as possible, but if you stick to the basics and focus on the issue then you should be able to feel a positive change, which I hope will be of help to you. Cheers Ric.
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2008 Author Posted 9 October 2008 I think Ric's gone a bit mental  Shall I pencil you in then kid?
The People's Hero Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 Pencil me in. You have to provide red wine and cheese though. Yours, Dangermouse. Not really. Yours, TPH. (Had you there, didn't I?!!!)
Alexikokopops Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008  Shall I pencil you in then kid? Do it. I only made it to the fourth paragraph so I've no idea what I've signed up for. I had a dream last night where I was playing Super Mario Bros III on the SNES and someone came up and asked me a question. I was too busy concentrating on Mario so said "yes" just to get rid of them and it turns out I accidentally signed up for the Marines. I never learn.

Let me know, we'll obliterate it.
hairy Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 I have a pain in my shoulder from reaching for the mouse
Alexikokopops Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 Either of you rascals got any pain anywhere? Let me know, we'll obliterate it. Can you get rid of my slightly porky belly? I ate half a chicken today and I'm thinking it wasn't such a good idea.
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2008 Author Posted 9 October 2008 I'd be amazed if you've just read all of that!
Samilktray Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 I'd be amazed if you can read. I couldnt resist.
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2008 Author Posted 9 October 2008 Can you get rid of my slightly porky belly? I ate half a chicken today and I'm thinking it wasn't such a good idea. I could get you to stop over eating.
Alexikokopops Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 I could get you to stop over eating. I'm in. What do I have to do? Edit: Actually, what I have to do is probably in the first post. I'm going to read it now.
The People's Hero Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 Either of you rascals got any pain anywhere? Let me know, we'll obliterate it. Yeah, several places. 1) My foot. Left foot. Muscle which runs along the inside of the sole. It keeps tightening up and giving me real issues. 2) My neck. It always hurts, whatever. 3) Can you rid me of the crushing sense of dissappointment re: my life and where it's been and where it's going. Ta. Cilla Black. (I can't believe I've just fooled you again). Tipi 'Ache.

Alexikokopops Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 I'm in. What do I have to do?Edit: Actually, what I have to do is probably in the first post. I'm going to read it now. So I have to tap and speak, right?
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2008 Author Posted 9 October 2008 So I have to tap and speak, right? Yer mon! Let me know exactly what it is you want to work on and i'll type you through it.
Alexikokopops Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 Yer mon!Let me know exactly what it is you want to work on and i'll type you through it. Make me eat less. I want to wear the skinniest of skinny jeans to wind up Sosban Fach. All in the name of science
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2008 Author Posted 9 October 2008 Yeah, several places.1) My foot. Tipi 'Ache. The first two should be quite straight forward, unless there's something complex that's causing you the pain. The third one, we'd be able to tackle, but might need slightly longer to work on it. You can do this yourself though, by writing down everything surrounding that point, all thoughts, feelings and memories that are tied in with that and tapping them out. Let's start with the top one. Assess the pain on a scale of 0 - 10 - inform me of the number Tap on the karate chop point and say to yourself under your breath with meaning - ' even though I have this pain in the muscle in my left foot, I deeply and completely accept myself ' x 3 Then tap on the corner of your eye brow about 7 times and say under your breath ' this pain in my left foot ' Then tap on the side of your eye and say under your breath ' this pain in my left foot ' Then tap under your eye and say under your breath ' this pain in my left foot ' Then under your nose and say under your breath ' this pain in my left foot ' Then the middle of your chin and say under your breath ' this pain in my left foot ' Then tap on the collar bone point and say under your breath ' this pain in my left foot ' Then tap under your arm in line with where a gals bra strap would be and say under your breath ' this pain in my left foot ' Now re-assess pain on a scale of 0 - 10 and let me know the number.
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2008 Author Posted 9 October 2008 Make me eat less. I want to wear the skinniest of skinny jeans to wind up Sosban Fach. All in the name of science What are the trigger points to why you over eat? Any particular foods, times, places?
Alexikokopops Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 What are the trigger points to why you over eat? Any particular foods, times, places? I like food and enjoy eating. I don't tend to snack loads, I just eat unecessarily large meals because I enjoy it. It's any food I like, usually just at meal times, and generally where ever there's food.
Ric Flair Posted 9 October 2008 Author Posted 9 October 2008 I like food and enjoy eating. I don't tend to snack loads, I just eat unecessarily large meals because I enjoy it. It's any food I like, usually just at meal times, and generally where ever there's food. Ok, that's fair enough. Say to yourself ' I enjoy my food, but I eat sensibly and in moderate amounts ' when you say that assess on a scale of 0 - 10 how true that is for you with 0 being not true at all and 10 being very true. (it's likely this number will be low to start with) I would start then with the following. ' Even though I enjoy my food and enjoy eating, and I over-eat, I deeply and completely accept myself ' Repeat that 3 times either out loud or under your breath whilst tapping on the karate chop point. Then tap on the corner of the eye brow about 7 times whilst saying ' I enjoy food and over eat ' Repeat that reminder phrase whilst tapping 7 times on the side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, on the middle part of the chin, the collar bone and under the arm. Now say the original - ' I enjoy my food, but I eat sensibly and in moderate amounts ' and assess on a scale of 0 - 10 how true that feels for you. If the number has increased, i.e. it is starting to ring true to you then keep let me know. If it hasn't then also let me know.

I'll give that a go later, I'll feel quite daft doing it at work though.
The People's Hero Posted 9 October 2008 Posted 9 October 2008 I started doing it at work and got strange looks (possibly because I'm naked). I'll do it later when I'm at home (naked). Will being naked enhance it?
