AoWW Posted 10 October 2008 Posted 10 October 2008 I'm glad you raised that point, this comes up quite a bit with some people. I used that choice of phrase as it's the most common, but for some people it doesn't feel natural to say it and therefore can hamper the process. So what i'd say is change that part of the set up to something that feels more natural for you like ' even though I have this..... I am a good person ' or ' I forgive myself even though I have this........ 'Obviously the fact you don't feel comfortable with that original phrase would suggest there are a few issues there you could work through, which in a way is good as it means you have something to focus on. I wouldn't ignore those feelings, I suggest working on those and then assess everything else afterwards as in a lot of cases, if you work on the present issues it can collpase a lot of the other issues that you couldn't quite put your finger on. Let me know if you want any help in terms of phrases, etc. Thanks for that. I might be able to cope with the 'forgive myself' phrase so I'll give that a go. Still kinda stuck what to focus on first but I'll give it some thought over the weekend. Somehow, having the 'right' starting point seems important to me. And, yes, I think you could safely say that I have more than 'a few issues' to work through! I could probably spend from now until Christmas coming up with a list!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 10 October 2008 Posted 10 October 2008 God thats a long first post - couldn't be arsed to read it all soooooooo - is it bollocks or not? I read about trigger points - do i have to have a blue suit and my own broom?
ozleicester Posted 11 October 2008 Posted 11 October 2008 May I ask what you have tried it on? Let me know if you want any help with getting more specific to the issue as that can sometimes hamper the effectiveness. Lower back pain...trying again...no success yet
Steven Posted 11 October 2008 Posted 11 October 2008 Would anyone be interested in helping me with an experiment? The scientific basis for this is?
coale39 Posted 11 October 2008 Posted 11 October 2008 No offence like, but is this like the placebo effect? Like if ya believe something will do something enough, it will?
DB11 Posted 11 October 2008 Posted 11 October 2008 Do it. I only made it to the fourth paragraph I made it to 'Tapping Points'
Ric Flair Posted 13 October 2008 Author Posted 13 October 2008 No offence like, but is this like the placebo effect? Like if ya believe something will do something enough, it will? It's incredibly difficult to answer that because this technique and others such as Hypnotherapy are often seen as un-scientific. But what I will say and I said it in my original post, this works with over 80% of people. I also said and this is crucial, people don't even have to believe in it to work so the whole placebo effect is kind of redundant. But i'm not going to try and claim that it's definitely not a placebo effect because I in fact believe that almost everything we do is based on our beliefs and how you change those beliefs for better or for worse is anyone's guess. The medical profession have a lot to answer for with this whole placebo affect as well. Trials and research have been done in to some of the drugs they use with patients and the results show that patients that took the drug and patients that didn't take the drug but thought they did both had a positive reaction. I could go in to the minor details about the ideas behind EFT and how it works, but I don't think it's important. To be honest, it needn't matter how EFT works. If it works with 80% or more of people and those people don't even need to believe in it, then it should be made available to people and slowly it is becoming more popular. It's very popular in America, but this country is often a few years behind in accepting alternative therapies compared to some countries.
