This is a perfect opportunity for some of you to do some EFT on yourselves regarding spiders.

Look at a picture of a really scary spider and really imagine it being real and being in the same room as you, assess how scared you feel on a scale of 0 - 10 with ten being that scared you're likely to cry.

Then do the set up tapping on the karate chop and repeat this 3 times

" Even though I am scared of spiders and especially the one in the picture, I deeply and completely accept myself "

Then start tapping on the points around your body saying the following at each point

" fear of spiders "

Then look at the picture again, try to get scared of it and re-assess the number on a scale of 0 - 10. If it's come down, but isn't a zero then repeat this whole procedure but change the wording to ' even though I still have some of this fear of spiders, I deeply and completely accept myself' and the reminder phrase should be 'remaining fear of spiders'. Repeat that until you don't feel scared any longer.

Do the job.

EFT Set Up. This is done by creating an affirmation and saying it out loud or under your breath (if you don’t want to say it in public!) this corrects Psychological Reversal, which is present in about 40% of us and if people have that, then it makes it increasingly difficult to achieve what you want in life as this sabotages everything you do. (sound familiar? I have it, but with EFT it smashes it to pieces inside 20 seconds).

An example of an affirmation is as follows:

‘Even though I have this pain in my back, I deeply and completely accept myself’

This is repeated 3 times, whilst tapping on the karate chop point (basically an inch below the bottom of your little finger on the side) with your index and middle finger from your dominant hand.

All affirmations start with the ‘Even though I have this………..’ and end with ‘I deeply and completely accept myself’

What if it worked too well and you loved spiders then you got loads of spiders from a man in a alley but they turned out to be loads of poisonous spiders they then bite and killed you (probably in the alley)???

Then you would die a happy man? :D

This question get's asked a lot about overcoming fears and what not with EFT and Hypnotherapy. But just because you remove the irrational fear, doesn't mean you are going to start keeping spiders as pet's and fingering them. Likewise if you had a fear of heights and you overcame it, it wouldn't mean you would start climbing up massive buildings and not care for your safety. All it means is you don't have that fear and negative emotions running through your body when you are faced with whatever it is you had a phobia of. It means you have the ability to be rational about the situation and maintain a calm state.

Loathe spiders, frightened to death of the damn things. The bigger they are , the bigger the phobia too.

Tarantulas are my worst nightmare phobia-wise. Fortunately they're a bit easier to avoid than your normal house spiders

Well, apart from the one accidental encounter I had with one on Holiday a few years back...

was on some excursion and the guide said we were gonna stop at some place on the way back to see some parrots , snakes etc... didnt mention anything about bloody tarantulas

When I spotted it, I had near-enough a full on panic attack, thought I was gonna throw up or pass out or both :S streaming with tears, whirling around arms thrashing like a windmill , shaking like a leaf, bellowing violence / death threats to the entire busfull of people we were with when they were trying to placate me (not fair I know, but I was deliriously frightened) , the lot. Really made a **** of myself that day!

Idiot tour guides didnt even tell us it was there, they just hid it behind their back and then threw it so it sprung onto some womans shoulder!!! Fortuantely it wasnt me else I'd have kicked off even more (or passed out in fright..) but even being stood near it was enough. My mate who I was on holiday with had to restrain me in some sort of bear-hug and he said he thought he'd end up having to slap my face to stop my hysteria

Bang out of order if you ask me  Bah humbug

I think I share the same amount of arachnophobia.

Bit harsh on the tour guides' behalf to just spring it out on to you lot. Would have knocked them out if they did that to me.

Exactly.

He slowly crept up to the crowd of people, just looked like he had his hands behind his back when he walked, then....SPRING!! 2gunsfiring_v1.gif

I was long gone in a cloud of dust within about a milisecond of spotting it

I cant even imagine what i'd have done if it had been me. shudder.gif

Got a good old tip my aunt uses ;)

Shes terrified of spiders, so she uses conkers, and puts them in a bowl. Spiders dislike the "Scent" of conkers.

Ah ha, I'd also heard this rumour and my Mum kindly collected for me today a huge bag of conkers. Tomorrow, they're to be spread liberally around the house. Seems worth a go, in my opinion. I'll report back in due course......... :D

And as for the article Alex posted.... each spider ONLY eats on average 20 flies a year???!!!!! WTF? How fooking useless is that. So much for the "they're doing good by ridding your house of flies" argument. In the height of summer I probably get 20 flies a day in the house. Sod that! The spiders and getting obliterated and I'll keep the fly population down myself with a fly swat and a can of Raid, thanks. :glare::angry:

Bloody spawn of satan, the lot of 'em. :@
