OAFC Posted 18 October 2008 Posted 18 October 2008 You’re first half our Second. Both of us had chances that should have been put away but being 1 down and to get a draw I will take that. Walked to the Ground with a few of your fans and had a few drinks also, nice to see there were no major incidents or trouble. Anyone who went what did you think of ground atmosphere etc cant wait for the new stands personally. P.S Told you our stewards can be jobs worth’s! I was threatened with exclusion by a steward and a cop only because I stood at times of excitement (pies ready etc) And another thing our OOH when the blues chant is a bit gay but that was beat today by your left side right side song that’s so embarrassing to see grown men sing that. Good luck for the rest of the season.
harpendenfox Posted 18 October 2008 Posted 18 October 2008 On the train back south. Fantastic trip to Oldham. Great atmosphere, good game, friendly police, and frankly today was what football is all about. Genuinely hope the pair of us win promotion. Think oldham fans were happier with the point, which probably tells its own story

I would have been angry if we led and sat back only to get a point. Still overall a fair result, cant wait till we come to the Walkers, if we are doing well we should take a bigish following.
Nugent Posted 18 October 2008 Posted 18 October 2008 I loved the ground, proper football stadium - 1 set of toilets, no leg space and balls flying over the empty stand - brilliant.
Daggers Posted 18 October 2008 Posted 18 October 2008 Oldham is a proper football club. A proper football club with a proper old stand and proper fans. It is a proper ground in a Northern town where everyone could wear Manchester red or blue. You all made a decent noise and, amazingly for a home crowd, outsang us for most of the game...but we seemed to bring a load of tourists with us today who were too busy wondering where to find the prawn sandwiches to be bothered to sing. I loved being able to go into a local pub without any fear of repercussions, drinking alongside oppo suporters - it's what football should be about...just a shame the twats at the Grey Mare couldn't be bothered to make some cobs the night before seeing as they knew they were going to have a large crowd in. I'd not be reccomending the pub to anyone else fancying a pint - not one cask ale. Out of any other club in the League - you and/or the Cobblers can come up with us to play in the Championship (Aside from all of those little fat and ugly children who flicked the V's at us when you scored. They are cvnts and can catch Aids of the eyeballs and die)

Its not even empty its been knocked down theres nothing there First few games even the home fans shouted subeteo every time the ball went crashing into the cars in the car park, its a crap ground but hey ho we had to knock it down to rebuild. I would rather do one stand at a time than all at once and ground share. Heres what used to be there and what the view was like:

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 October 2008 Posted 18 October 2008 Why not build your new ground first? Perhaps they like the heritage and tradition of their current site and don't want a soulless, grey stadium?
OAFC Posted 18 October 2008 Author Posted 18 October 2008 Why not build your new ground first? We tried that but we couldnt find the land. We decided to develop Boundary park and sell some of the land we own off for homes etc. Damn credit crunch fooked that up,nobody buying homes so nobody building them so no land sale so no new ground for me
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 October 2008 Posted 18 October 2008 That looks a bit like a place my mum would go for a visit to Next or BHS. Very retail park-ish.
OAFC Posted 18 October 2008 Author Posted 18 October 2008 Perhaps they like the heritage and tradition of their current site and don't want a soulless, grey stadium? I must admit we all prefer the existing site we have been there over 100 years and we didnt want to move. Another bonus is we are having four seperate stands also which for me is what an english ground should be like no offense to you your ground looks amazing but i like the feel and atmosphere of a four sided ground. Mind you oldham council refused us planning permission at first until we all kicked off and took it higher they didnt like us stood outside the council HQ With no new Ground and a council dead set on ruining oldham we thought the end was in sight for OAFC until we made them see the light and that the only good thing oldham can be proud of is a family football club that if successfull could reunite its towns folk. (God this soap box is high) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChjmZSPxvrg...feature=related

Daggers Posted 18 October 2008 Posted 18 October 2008 no offense to you your ground looks amazing No it doesn't - it's just a soul-less hole. It wouldn't be so bad if it were unique - but they simply bought the kit that was used for Southampton. I'd take your ground any day of the week.

dec666 Posted 18 October 2008 Posted 18 October 2008 I'll try and get some decent pics of the new ground. Btw i'm an Oldham fan.
Asha Posted 18 October 2008 Posted 18 October 2008 I liked Oldham's stadium. Proper football stadium, as said. Couldn't hear you fans much though, but then I wasn't particularly close to any of them.
dec666 Posted 18 October 2008 Posted 18 October 2008 Just back now with the Scow and Kayteh - fair result really. Although we should have been a couple up at half time then I would have fancied our chances! The cops and stewards were jobsworths. Everyone was standing including Oldham, yet a small section including me were shouted at etc and then the cops turned up, pushed one lad, he wasn't happy with that and so was thrown out. No sign of them at all second half and so no sign of trouble. Stay the fook out you pig wankers! Pic 1 Pic 2 Some other pics Video Some of the original plan was changed when we had a second go at getting the planning permission.

Selling your souls for some pretty mirror glass. You don't know what you've got till it's gone, they've paved Paradise and put up a parking lot.
