Bert Posted 17 April 2005 Posted 17 April 2005 i think he wil stil be here next season!! 94054 I don't think it will be his choice. 94057 Why not?? At the end of the day it's his choice and at Man Utd or Arsenal he won't be playing week in week out like he should or probably will be here next season, he's wise enought to consider that
C-man Posted 17 April 2005 Posted 17 April 2005 I hope to god he doesnt leave us for any sum of money. He's one of the brightest prospects we've got, and i would have him in my starting line-up next year every week. Fcuck of Manure
Vardinhio Posted 17 April 2005 Posted 17 April 2005 please, be realistic. Stearman has played reserve team football this season with a few diplays for the first team. There is no way in hell that Man Utd or Arsenal would bid £3m for a player which hasn't even reguarly played at championship level. They may well be scouting him, true. But they will be scouting out many other players at many other clubs. If anyone bids £3m for Stearman this, or next season, I'll eat my own face!

Foxes_Trust Posted 17 April 2005 Posted 17 April 2005 This is very old news. Man Utd & Arsenal are aware of Stearman's talent. In fact they were aware before 95% of City fans had ever heard of him. They were monitoring him way before he made his debut, we discovered this when scouting ourselves on who we should sponsor & having decided he looked the brightest prospect were informed that top clubs agreed with our judgement. We decided against making this public knowledge until any rumours appeared. Saying he would replace Rio is crazy, Craig won't even play him at centre half until he fills out alot, hence his selection at right back
Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 April 2005 Posted 17 April 2005 IMO if Arsenal and Man Utd are genuinely interested, they'd be more likely to try and get a first option on him so they can sign him when he's about 21 if he's impressed for three or four years with us. If anyone learned from the Matt Piper transfer then this sort of thing will not happen again for a few years. £3.5m for an unproven kid, he can't be happy up there, we're not happy he's gone, they're not happy he's not playing. Yes we got a lot of money for him but I think most fans would agree that it would have been preferable to keep him had it not been for the financial situation. Now we are under significantly less financial pressure.
Ric Flair Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 I've known about their interest in Stearman for a long while, that's why it was essential for us to sign him on a professional contract earlier this season. The only good thing Bassett ever did really. I don't think there is any need to worry, it's clear to see how much Levein rates Stearman and it would take a fairly stupid bid from Arsenal or Man Utd to sign him. I mean I know Arsenal paid £2 million for Pennant before he played, but it's risky paying millions for a player who desperately needs first team football before money should change hands. I'd be gutted if Stearman was sold and i'd never forgive Levein if he sold him, as we've got another year of the parachute payments and we aren't desperate for the cash. In my opinion he's the best prospect i've seen since Joachim burst on to the scene, better than Heskey and better than Piper even though he's a defender and it's hard to compare. But at 17 and playing in a shocking team he has been head and shoulders above every player on the pitch all 3 times he's started. I'm willing to put all the money I own that he'll play for England within the near future and him going to Arsenal or Man Utd this early won't help him really. He won't leave, Arsenal can **** off. Levein has had to deal with big clubs sniffing around his players all his managerial career and managed to keep them away. If he gets rid of the new 'bobby moore' then he can be sure that 32,000 fans will be gunning for him. PS This might make Levein play Stearman more as he'll want to keep him sweet so he doesn't ask for a transfer. Stearman for England.
Macca4lcfc Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 Players that have played for man utd at around the age of 17 - beckham, giggs, rooney, ronaldo, scholes etc Players that have played for arsenal around the age of 17 - cole, toure, pennant, fabregas, van persie Do you really think stearman can compare to these? as good as he is, he is not in the same league as these players.
Vardinhio Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 Let's be honest though it wont really be Leveins' decision if he stays or goes. It will be the board.... This i all irrelevant talk anyways. Let's all get back to reality. Stearman is going no where for at least another season.

PS Beckham and Scholes we nearer to 20 when they played.
Guest Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 IMO i think it's different for Stearman, he aint after money, he just wants to play professianal football for the team he's supported for his whole life, just signed a pro contract and he seems genuine too, really cant see him leavin to be honest. 94045 So was Matt Piper.....

And he was expecting to be in the Sunderland first team. and is Matt Piper still injured.

foxesfan69 Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 However much us Leicester fans would like him to stay it's inevitable really that a big club has been looking at him. Just look at how he has progressed. Top prospect and I as i am sure all other Leicester fans are want him to stay.
filbertway Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 I reckon he will stay and play a big part in next seasons promotion campaign
Hutber's Law Posted 18 April 2005 Posted 18 April 2005 I think it's great we've finally got some talent coming through the ranks and I believe CL when he says he's going to give them the chance to make a meaningful contribution to our future. It was something he said he wanted to see in his first press conference after being appointed - that and a younger age base. The focus needs to be on giving them a successful Leicester team to be part of and not looking around nervously and second guessing other teams intentions.
