Phube Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Forgot Overmars sorry, but Van Persie at Feynoord surely was nowhere near a finshed product. I'd give Wenger credit with that.Surely if these managers were adamant that the likes of Henry and Veira would turn into world beaters they wouldn't have sold them for peanuts? There are crap managers out there still... (even worse than Wenger!! )
lildave3 Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Van Persie is still nowhere near the finished product.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Van Persie was rated an excllent prospect by Feyenoord but was dubbed "enfant terrible" by the Dutch press. That's why Feyenoord were so ready to offload him.
Joe. Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 I bet they don't win the league within the next 10 years. Unless they change their approach, it just won't happen.
Ultra Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 Arsenal finished 12th in the Premier League the season before he took over. And also Thierry Henry was not thought of as anything approaching a world class striker when Wenger signed him. Henry was part of the France 98 World Cup - winning squad. So the talent must already have been there, even if he didn't show it at Juve.
Koke Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 Van Persie is still nowhere near the finished product. The lad is 25. When will he ever be the finished product. This is about as good as he'll get. If he just stays injury free, and he can go very far.
