No Under 2s In The Ground. How Long Has This Been The Rules?

Recommended Posts

Not everyone would be as sensible as Scully91 and go as a family, or with a car seat, or happily sit in the front row etc. The sad fact of H&S if you have to account for idiots in the current environment of litigiousness.

A ball kicked with venom and missing the goal (a regular sight to most of us) and planting itself into the head of a two & a half year old could have lethal consequences: I don't see anyone getting twisted over that possible event - and so remain perplexed as to why anyone feels an infant is any more at risk in the ground.

To me this isn't the curse of the HSE - it's just another laughable ground regulation.

My Mum threw a brick at my head (I got in the way of a skip) when I was about 5 and I turned out alright.

It's health and safety gone MENTAL.

You must have been one big, fat baby.

Out of all the hundreds of people that have heard this story Webbo has been the most nastiest i could believe anyone to be.

People must understand we went as a family. No way would i have taken my 2 month old on my own, thats just silly, but there were 2 adults and 3 kids.

And who in their right mind would leave a baby of that age with a baby sitter, thats just totally irresponsible, he needs his mummy.

We go to the stock cars every other weekend and can take children in and they are 150mph monsters, not footballers!! If trouble were to flare it wouldnt be in the family stand would it? Or one of the 15,000 spare seats that i selectively chose from.

We take the baby to the park in exactly the same manner so whats the difference?

Did you hear it on Radio Leicester? Peter Jones said it was a cold day and they wouldnt take the risk incase the steps were icy. Who said we would need to climb steps with 15,000 spare seats avaialable?

Dont get me wrong, on the outside it sounds a stupid thing to do to take a 2 month old but as you dissect it actually there is no difference to going elsewhere with the baby and he is no colder and in no extra danger.

Peter Jones? You mean "nothing's too much trouble," Peter Jones?.

Like you say, where's the need to climb steps, and, in any case, if the steps are dangerous for adults and babies to climb they'd surely be dangerous for adults on their own. Or don't their limbs matter?.

I just love the can do/will do attitude of Leicester City.

Hell if my wife and I could get bloody great wardrobes into third floor windows I'm damned sure Leicester City could get a tiny tot up a few flights. What about pass the parcel with a group of stewards, one standing on each step? :D

As my old colleague Richard Littlejohn would say: You couldn't make it up".

My missus used to call me Linford ..... because I loved taking her out to Bradgate! :D

If I were the club and I was faced with the choice of potential bad publicity from internet forums, the local radio and TV or a potential claim on my Public Liability Insurance I'd take a risk on the publicity.

What, even though our crowds have fallen below those of the egg-chasers?

I bet the infant would have been welcomed with open arms at Welford Road. And they have terraces there!

Thanks for those replies and i can totally agree why on the face of it people would agree with the club but i swapped the word football for Rugby or Disney on Ice or Cricket then all of a sudden it clearly shows that everyone thinks football is a dangerous game and it is not safe to take your kids to it. I think that is the bottom line.

Even more annoying is that we were just sent packing.

I know this wouldn't happen. but say you fell and trapped your kid underneath you and he died

Jesus christ whats all that about !!

I will also say that 5 years ago we were in a restaurant, Nandos to be precise, and we ordered food and then baby woke and needed feeding and the wouldnt heat the bottle up !! Not allowed hot water, not allowed to microwave it, nothing. I went to Radio WM about it and most readers backed the restaurant!! Oh far to young to be going out, you shouldnt be out with a baby of that age !!!! etc etc, thats the view of the people, nothing to do with h and s whatsoever people think babies must be wrapped in cotton wool and kept at home simple as that.

I would also like to add my lads first football game was as a 1 year old watching Cov v West Ham in a reserve game with 2 other 1 year olds, didnt have a problem getting in the ground that day and it seems someone with a 6 month old didnt have problems at LCFC either, also i would like to add i took the mrs when she was 8 months preggerz to the Carling cup 1st round against stockport, didnt see them worrying she might fall on the steps then !!

I would like to say one thing that whether you have agreed or not the chat and replies have generally been sensible, of course there have been one or two absolute knobheads but internet forums are usually full of them but `most` of you guys have been really sensible and should be proud of yourselves for your ensible responses and well, the others, you know who you are.

True, but works both ways.

I talked to lads who have basically given up on home games because the club are trying to turn matchdays at the walkers into a family fun day entertainment event rather than a place you can go with your mates to let off some steam.

What utter rubbish that statement is. Let off steam? What does that mean exactly? Chanting is allowed, singing is allowed, as loud as you like, even having a `respectable` dig at the other team through song is ok. What is not ok is swearing, racist chants, telling someone your going to shag their mum or something, throwing of objects, and fighting so it looks like we can work out the type of guy your friend is !!

I still say that despite your view on this it does not state anywhere that you cant take a non walking child into the ground (as per what PJ said on tv) and he hasnt even had the decency to make me an offer of anything. No apology no incentive to return no gift no travel money no gesture of goodwill no nothing. That i find bizarre.

In todays litigation driven society yes.

It may have escaped your notice but the Tigers play Premiership Rugby and are a force in Europe. City play in Division 3. Should it ever happen that the Tigers get relegated even one division, I suspect that their crowds would reduce dramatically.

Your use of the word infant suggests to me that you are not a parent.

Not wishing to be rude but do you crave the publicity when something happens that you don't agree with or are you genuinely championing for change on behalf of others?

Twice in 39 years? Dont think thats craving the media. And both were to do with the treatment of young children and babies in so called FAMILY restaurants. Maybe your too placid or too weak to kick up a stink but imagaine if it were you in Nandos that day? Baby screaming, food ordered, everyone starving. So you would have done what exactly? Walked away, moaned to your mates, who knows. Either way Nanados were mega mega apologetic and their top man called me to say their staff were totally out of order and should have provided the bottle warming facility without question.

Like i say 2 complaints in 39 years hardly makes me a serial complainer does it?

With your over the top reactions to people on here you're doing yourself no favours!! In fact i'd go as far as saying your starting to look like a bit of a "cry baby" (no pun intended).

That's coming from someone who had sympathy with you, not a "troll" as you put it.

Just wondering, would you have sat in the family stand at the Walkers?

I see you dont like to hear swearing at football. There is a women near me in the kop who takes her kids everyweek and as soon as she hears one swear word she starts moaning.

Not sure why we need a family stand if the majority arnt using it.

Afraid i have to reply. Having no parents around means we have no automatic babysitters like alot of people have hence we stick together as a family. Didnt think you would want me to lie about that important matter buts seems you would prefer me to let people think we could have left our baby with its grandparents which is not possible.

Second item about Nandos well that to me is pretty harsh, i would love to see what you would say or do if you turned up for the next game to be, for example, told your not coming in ever again or if you ordered some food and it was cold and you got told tough, or if your elderly parent came and was made to climb 50 steps, you know something really bad like those examples i would love to see what you would do. Just accept it?? I think not my friend.

I normally sit on the corner under the fusions restaurant or in the family stand right by the restaurant as they are the places with the least people and far enough away from the away fans to be in complete safety. I dont mind swearing in front of my lad people can swear all they like, what i dont like is behaviour that would scare him, agressive behaviour but a simple bout of swearing at the ref or the like is no problem to me at all.

I was pretty much in support of you up until this.

You sound like one of the mongy parents that takes their kids along, doesn't sit in the family stand and then gives you daggers if you say a naughty word.

And no, letting off steam doesn't mean racist chanting and beating people up. It means if you stay home all week and look after your kid, and you wanna go to the football for 90 minutes as a brief break from that, there should be areas of the ground where you are able to sit/stand in and say whatever swear words you want, without over-protective parents having a pop or threatening to tell a steward.

At Filbert Street, it wasn't a problem. If parents didn't take their kids to the family stand then they knew what to expect and never made a fuss about the language used. At the walkers, the situation is ridiculous.

L1 is about the only area where you get away with calling the referee a willy puller without some sour-faced old cow who wants to wrap her children up in cotton wool looking at you as if you've just got your cock out. The last game I went to I sat in the 'kop', on around 40 minutes I swore for the first time. Some **** whose kid was just playing nintendo DS leans in from 5 seats away and says 'this isn't really the place for that is it.'

Anyway, this is getting boring. Next time you wanna be on the local news (which is probably very soon I'd imagine), there's a cinema round my way that doesn't let under 4s in apart from for specific showings.
