Corky Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Yes but why bang on about 19 league titles non stop ? How many have seen the 19 league titles being won ? Liverpool fans live in the past and i hope Man Utd win the league again this year to darw level with Liverpool on titles won. Best question for the Liverpool muppets ... Have you ever won the Premiership ? They then just go about 5 times 5 times One thing I do notice is that Man Utd fans bang on about winning the Premiership, completely ignoring the seven titles they won before 1992. Sorry to be pedantic but it's 18 league titles.
Father Ted Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 No not really, surely it's one of the most acceptable stereotypes for supporting a particular team as the chances are it will be the same as your Dad and where you were born, the same with a cousin. You seem to be saying it's bad that you support the same team as your brother and that only Liverpool supporters do that. Or I could just say you're talking total bollocks Just say I'm talking total bollocks then

I hardly think that's pedantic, it's just the truth. People seem to have forgotten that there was professional football before 1992!
Floating Fox Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 For me, the fact that Liverpool haven't won the title in the post-1992 Premier League era means absolutely nothing. The term "Premiership" is just arbitrary, it's still the same competition with the same clubs that it always was, so why shouldn't their fans brag about the fact that they've won more league titles than anyone else? Bang on. If I supported the most sucssesfull club in England (Over History) I'd be chuffed to bits with it. I like the club world championship. It gives idiots that think football outside of England/Europe is like Sunday league/Playing on a field a wake up call. Obviously the fact skysports don't give it enough coverage makes them think completly different though. I was speaking to this tit at work who's a manure "fan" (He also likes Green Street - Surprisingly ). They were playing Gamba Osaka, and he said they should thrash them as he's never heard of them and football in asia is awfull. I predicted a 2-0 Yanited win... (Finished 5-3..).
Tommeh Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 I actually agree with you. Liverpool fans are the biggest tits on this planet. Especially the glory hunters who support them cos their cousin-brother supports them! Then you can't really call them fans, yes they follow them but the hardcore element of both United and Liverpools support are excellant, the 5,000 or so who spend £,000's every year trotting across Europe and have to go through every avenue possible just to get an away ticket. Nobody hates gloryhunters more than the real fans of the clubs they choose to follow. This tournament was pointless but at the end of the day all the more £££££££££££ and thats the most important thing ey?
Koke Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 What a pointless exercise this tournament was. Woke up this morning to see they were 1-0 up. After the final whistle went, all I saw was the Man Utd players giving each other a pad on the back as if they just had a routine victory away at Wigan. And Man Utd & Liverpool fans are just as bad as each other.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 You're having a laugh aren't you, they had Delgado formerly of Southampton on their bench which says it all really. This tournament was a complete waste of time. No. The Libertadores is not an easy competition to win, and the calibre of teams in South America is higher than alot of people like to think. This was proved when Internacional beat that great Barca team of 2006 in the tournament a couple of years ago.

Floating Fox Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Interesting article here Good article... Although I don't really see what he's getting at, if the south American team comes and sits back then thats fair enough, at the end of the day the best team is the one that wins, wether tactically or Technically. I don't think I'd complain with the $5Mil prize money either plus the HUGE revenue generated from Asian "Fans". Even the runners up get a big sum of money. I think its a good tourno.

Even the runners up get a big sum of money. I think its a good tourno. I don't think that is the case. In a one off match, even the poorest team can claim victory. I've seen it many times in all sorts of cup competitions. I'm in favour of the idea of this tournament. If it had more media coverage, gave more exposure to the non-European sides, and contributed to the development of leagues outside of Europe in some way, then all the better. But the simple fact remains that European leagues, and European club sides generally are stronger than their non-European counterparts. A lot of the reasoning behind this is financial. Non-European clubs do not compete on a level playing field. I'd much rather this tournament be hosted in different continents on a rotational basis, perhaps excluding Europe initially, with any financial benefits finding their way to the host nation/continent so that their leagues can begin to bridge the gap in quality between their own and Europe's.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Obviously European teams are better equipped to win the tournament, becuase of the amount of cash they have, but I think that "gaping chasm" is a ridiculous statement. As long as the South American teams are producing immensely talented youngsters, then there will never be a "gaping chasm."
Simi Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Why don't we all support Bradford City? Thank ****, someone finally talks sense.
Fosse Boy Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 I'm a Bradford Park Avenue man myself. PA scum! You're just a small town in, erm, Bingley?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 24 December 2008 Posted 24 December 2008 I remember in 2000 when Man U got the pleasure of playing one of our Semi - Pro sides South Melbourne
