Mandaric Praises Fans

Posted on: Mon 29 Dec 2008

Leicester City Chairman Milan Mandaric has today sent out a heartfelt message of thanks to supporters following the hectic Christmas period of fixtures.

The Foxes gained a 4-0 victory over Peterborough United in front of a crowd of 23,390, the highest home gate of the season to date, while 22,920 fans were in attendance for the 2-1 win against Hereford United.

On the road, almost 3,000 City fans made the trip to Elland Road for the Boxing Day 1-1 draw with Leeds United.

So all in all Nigel Pearson's Leicester side were watched by over 80,000 spectators over the eight day period - and Mandaric was full of praise for the support shown by the Foxes fans.

He said: "I can not thank our fans enough for the tremendous backing they have given the team over the Christmas period.

"We had people queuing out of the doors at the ticket office following our game at Leeds, and that demand carried through right up until the kick off against Hereford.

"There is a huge financial burden on families at this time of year, but still the fans have come out to watch their side in massive numbers.

"We are currently where I wanted us to be - heading the table with over 50 points to our name. We must now remain united and make sure we get the job done.

"May I also take this opportunity to wish our supporters a happy and prosperous New Year."

Tickets remain on general sale for Saturday's FA Cup third round clash against Crystal Palace.

Tickets for season ticket holders are priced at £15 for adults, £10 for seniors and £5 for under 16s, while non-season ticket holders can secure their seats at £20 for adults, £15 for seniors and £5 for under 16s.

Supporters are urged to purchase their tickets for the game at the earliest possible opportunity.
