Nick Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 £4m into £37m... Oh the efficiency of the public sector. G4s ring any bells or shall we choose not to make stupid sweeping statements?
sphericalfox Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 G4s ring any bells or shall we choose not to make stupid sweeping statements? It's laughable really, as I'm pretty sure there were simply no private consultancy, construction, or contracts involved in this enterprise regardless of the management by the council. They'll probably be blameless as I've never heard of any of those types to try bleed the public purse dry.
Webbo Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 If anything sums up Labour administrations it's projects like this. Needless vanity projects, vastly over budget.
Guest MattP Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Labour in massive overspend and under-estimate shocker.
fleckneymike Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Am I correct in remembering that after they built Curve it was apparent that the stage and back stage area wasn't large enough to accomodate the large touring productions?
marko Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Am I correct in remembering that after they built Curve it was apparent that the stage and back stage area wasn't large enough to accomodate the large touring productions? I wouldn't be surprised as a couple of large touring productions I can think of off the top of my head (Chicago and Avenue Q) have performed at De Montfort Hall and not the Curve, where you'd think they'd opt for.
Rincewind Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Never been but I know one or two that have seen shows there have been impressed. Too costly for me and probably costly for families. When it opened it was supposed to put Leicester on the map. I blame The Ale Wagon for the loss. If the landlord cleaned up the place it would not be such an eyesore in the area and theatre goers would have somewhere to go after a show.
