LCFC123 Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 Yes but I was saying that he is already better then Gudjonsson. In that case, we should agree to disagree
Corky Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 Joey had the worst first touch I've ever seen. He flicked it up instead of trapping it.
TrickyTrev Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 Joey Gudjohnson was complete and utter garbage. Always gave the ball away. It is a sign of how poor we were that we'd celebrate a piss poor player who couldn't pass, tackle or control the ****er, just because he'd wallop the ball from distance at any opportunity and get about 1/20 on target. Oh and Wesolowski is better at running with the ball than him.
RowlattsFox Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 I will always see Joey has a defensive midfielder, which is what he is for Burnley, infact against Tottenham last week he was excellent first half hour and Burnley struggled after he went off. It says a lot about our squad at the time when Joey was our creativ force.

He was one of our best players when he was here, which isn't saying much but he was far better than the others we had and he still gets slated. As for his passing, it was quite good compared to the others in our team. Remember the through balls that he played often to Fryatt and Hume, or the long diagonal ball to De Vries to score from in the FA Cup match? To say Wesolowski was better at running with the ball than Joey is ludicrous.

Its okay hitting the occaisional raking ball but he'd reguarly completely miss a 10 yard pass and over hit a relatively simple passes. I remember Joey running around a lot, missing a lot of tackles, giving the ball away constantly and hitting the occaisional belter. I never liked him at the time and absence hasn't made the heart grow fonder. Weso is good at dribbling with the ball, sadly his passing aint much better than Joey's.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 Difficult to compare given the contrast in the quality of the two leagues we've seen them in but Davies has that touch of class that Gudjonsson never showed. Davies has the same energy and drive as Gudjonsson but can actually control and pass a football on a consistent basis which I never saw from Gudjonsson. A lot of players hide technical weakness with a decent long-range shot that will bag them a few goals a season but we rarely bossed games when Gudjonsson played for us whereas Davies always looks in control. Whether he can do that at Championship level remains to be seen.
Koke Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 Joey looked good in a shit squad. Davies has energy, close ball control and can actually pass a football. The only thing Joey probably have over Davies is the fact that he could a ball so sweet.
soley118 Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 Davies is ten times the player Joey is, was or ever will be. I agree davies is 3 times better than joey

The Bear Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 I've seem both play for Wolves in the Championship, and Davies was and is a better player IMO. Gudjohnsson was the definition of a plodder for us who offered absolutely zero.
Thracian Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 Totally different players. Davies doesn't strike me as that natural a marksman whereas Joey was quite dangerous with the goal in his sights. What I like about Davies is his energy and willingness to drive at defences and take people on. This wasn't Joey's style. He was more inclined to manouevre the ball forward. But it's still early days for Davies. His talent is obvious but how durable he is remains to be seen.
