davieG Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 Leicester City striker Matty Fryatt was this evening (Monday) named the Powerade League One Player of the Month for December. The Foxes hitman, who has 23 goals to his name for the season to date, beat off Aaron McLean (Peterborough United), Antony Kay (Tranmere Rovers) and Gary Roberts (Huddersfield Town) to collect the prize. The news comes following the announcement at the beginning of the month that Nigel Pearson had collected the Manager of the Month award for the same period. Fryatt found the target on four occasions during December - including a hat-trick in the 3-0 victory over Southend United at the Walkers Stadium. He said: "December was a great month for us. The Christmas period is always a key part of the season and we managed to come through it with a good return. "I am delighted to receive the award, but I see it more as a reflection of the performance of the team as appose to me individually." He becomes the first Leicester City player to scoop the award this season.

StanSP Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 Surprised he's the first LCFC player win this award. Thought Tunchev had got one. Anyway, good on him. Hope he keeps up his goalscoring form and breaks more records!
Anish Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 Well deserved. He's shut up his critics so far this season.
marko Posted 12 January 2009 Posted 12 January 2009 I know Kamara is a bit of a twonk and fairly clueless, but i can't believe that Tunchev has never been nominated for the award.

On BLW 2 tonight he said it was Mark Davies' debut on sat. Surely it's his job to keep track of what's going on.

I noticed that as well, he really is a bull sh!ter of the highest order, God, that man annoys me on Goals on Sunday.

He didn't actually say it was his debut did he? It was the commentator on our match. Although he did say something that made me laugh at the time, i've now forgot.

Kamara isn`t exactly the pinnacle of football knowledge in the the football world, Can`t stand the bloke! Yeah I agree Tunchev is class and should have one the award at least once already.

Ric Flair Posted 13 January 2009 Posted 13 January 2009 He deserves it. I've been impressed with his work ethic off the ball as well this season, it's certainly something new he's added to his game. He's not scored for a few games, but he's still set up a couple from his hard work. Hopefully he can hit another purple patch and pass that 30 mark soon and on to the next milestone.
