Libertine Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Give me some bastarding recommendations for music for me to 'obtain'. I know GLC did an identical thread but I want one/two to myself, ho. Ya'll know what I like. Alt/Rock/Grunge/Shoegaze/Singer-songwriters etc. Fire away love-makers.
Libertine Posted 1 February 2009 Author Posted 1 February 2009 Lionel Richie. Outside school at 3.30pm. Bobstain.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 I've actually got a serious suggestion that I think you might like Libby. Look at City and Colour - Particularly Save Your Scissors, Hello I'm In Delaware and Coming Home. Also Head Automatica - Brooklyn is Burning and Beating Heart Baby are good songs to kickstart and interest in them. Reckon you'll like City and Colour, hopefully anyway.

Everyone should check out Titus Andronicus btw. Sick dan. I'll reel it out... Everyone says they're basically Arcade Fire with Cobain on guitar, with a Pogues type of sound in there too. Suck meeee.

Joe. Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 My housemate raves about them. Aren't they an Alexisonfire side project? Yeah, Dallas Green is part of both groups.
General Smuts Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Arms I enjoyed the song you put on one of our mixes the other day whilst clearing my iTunes. And City and Colour are appalling. My mate loves them and i tried getting into them a year or so ago, but just couldn't. Whiny bastard. Libertine - Try The Rocket Summer, he's a great poppy indie emo type that i think you'll like.
Mark Posted 1 February 2009 Posted 1 February 2009 Slight contradiction. MBV Shoegaze - The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Air Formation.

General Smuts Posted 2 February 2009 Posted 2 February 2009 You're appalling. I picture you saying this with John Inman's voice.

Finnegan Posted 5 February 2009 Posted 5 February 2009 You might end up telling me where to get fooked here, and not being very interested at all. But following on from a couple of the folky bits you seem to have fancied, thought you might be interested in a bit of UK folk? In terms of singer song-writers, I personally believe Vin Garbutt's one of the best this country's ever produced. This might be a bit too dad-music-down-the-pub for you but hey-ho! It was hard picking a song to upload because I love a lot of his songs for different reasons. Man really loves the sound of his own voice so you might want to skip it a bit. If you like it, I'll upload the album. It's very possible you won't, though so no pressure. Was gunna stick it on my mix tape this time around but never got about to it. And these guys are a bunch of Brummies that don't make music anymore (together.) I got dragged to a folk festival a fair few years ago in Cov and ended up getting a bit hooked. These were amongst the most commercial there.
