Bert Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 Am I the only one that finds this weird? Got Stockport up to League One, pushing for the play-offs, and he's having talks with a team threatened by relegation. I know things probably aren't as rosy as they seem at Stockport, but I just find it very strange that he'd want to swap his position that he's in now for the one he could possibly be going to.
Corky Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 Surprises me. I always thought he was Stockport through and through, legend as a player and now as a manager. Arguably Stockport are bigger than Brighton, in a much better position for the future. Must be about money.

Nope, I find it weird too. Brighton must be offering better bunce, although I always saw him as quite a principled guy. I know a Stockport fan, he'll be absolutely livid!

Milky Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 He's building a nice reputation at Stockport and they still have a chance for the play-offs. Strange.

Bert Posted 25 February 2009 Author Posted 25 February 2009 Ha, Maybes said earlier to me that it's because Gannon is gay.

I thought this. It's not even like Holloway's situation with us last season - there's not that big a difference between Brighton and Stockport, certainly not enough to make most people consider dropping down about 15 places. Surely he'll turn them down? He's hopefully just hearing them out. Having said that I've just noticed the BBC Sport article where he says his position is untenable - what's all that about?
Floating Fox Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 Stockport are in a pretty big mess financially. Are they still owned by the fans? Always been liked stockport.
Bert Posted 25 February 2009 Author Posted 25 February 2009 Ludicrous. I don't think he's in the frame tbh.

I was just going to ask that, I find the whole situation strange, Brighton have got very little going for them at the minute.
Jay Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 I was on the phone speaking to a stockport fan this afternoon and he was telling me that the club had been given a massive tax bill or something and they needed to find £250 000 by mid march and they are generally in the sh1t financially
Part Of The Crowd Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 Hasn't Gannon been going off on one a few times about the board recently just to stir it up. I personally don't like him since he attacked Lloyd Dyer for celebrating the goal that got us promoted

Part Of The Crowd Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 If he shut his mouth once in a while he might be more popular. He mouthed off about our 1 - 0 win saying we didn't play the slickest passing football ever, their pitch is a sandpit, the ball rolls about 3 yards before sticking, we played football to an extent but adapted to conditions aswell.

I've always thought of him as a bit of a character personally. I love how he refused to talk to Sky until they went to fix his satellite dish! That said, I'm not quite sure what to think now if he's leaving the club where he's a legend though...

He said to Dyer 'we've got the best winger in league 2, when Andrews scored Dyer celebrated, Gannon squared up to him, Dyer then wittily said 'we've got the best winger in league 1' and winked before being pushed over by Gannon (who had the stewards instructed to not let the players anywhere near the fans once the final whistle went) I've always thought of him as a bit of a character personally.I love how he refused to talk to Sky until they went to fix his satellite dish! That said, I'm not quite sure what to think now if he's leaving the club where he's a legend though... i heard that, twas quite funny, i just can't lay my finger on what i don't really like. I think it is the arrogance he shows, similar to Fergie jr 'ME ME ME ME ME'
