davieG Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 CITY: Conrad Logan, Peter Canero, Stephan Morley, Stephen Dawson, Richard Stearman, Matthew Heath, Chris O'Grady, Scot Gemmill, Tommy Wright, Stefan Moore, Jason Wilcox Subs: Levi Porter, Adam Wykes, James Graham, Louis Dodds, James Wesolowski
shen Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 I wouldn't mind seeing that bench in the first team too Let's hope Dawson impresses one last time before he makes his long awaited debut!
Mark Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 Oh dear. Three center forwards didn't work against Palace, i expect Wright to be put out on the right wing which is crazy when we've got Levi Porter sitting down as a sub doing nothing.
Anish Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 Maybe Canero could make an appearance on Sunday? 99521[/snapback] We can only hope

Shum Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 Leicester's reserves finished off their season with defeat to Arsenal, the game ending in a 4-2 scoreline which somewhat flattered the visitors from the OS.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 Gemmill scored towards the end! O'Grady got our first which was the goal that made it 1-1. Arsenal were given a dodgy penalty to make it 3-1. Taylor didn't look amazing when called upon although that wasn't very often but his kicking was good. Logan had a mare.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 Yes, me! That's why I know who scored for us etc. It was 1-1 at half time but second half we just collapsed.
shen Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 Anyone in our team stand out? And how was Nicklas Bendtner for them? The Arsenal attacker together with Lupoli...
Jonbluefox9 Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 I wouldn't know which one Bendtner was?! They had a pacy right winger who looked good and their full backs were quite impressive too. No-one really stood out for us. Stearman did well as usual but got a bit of a knock whilst going in for a challenge. That hindered him in the second half. O'Grady did ok wide right in the first half and Dawson looked solid against Flamini although his passing was a bit reckless. Dodgy playing surface didn't help. Canero looked slow and off the pace and Wright didn't look like he was that interested.
shen Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 Ok...sounds like Wright's days here are numbered, and a shame Dawson couldn't excel today...would've given him a chance to feature against Leeds might still happen though. Bendtner I believe, is a target man. Did they start with someone tall up front? Reason I'm asking is because he's touted as a good Danish prospect, and at this time we don't have many of those...
Jonbluefox9 Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 A lanky, blonde lad scored for them but I'm sure he was called Ryan Smith over the tanoy. Might've been him. We sneaked into the padded seated area and sat next to a scout for a lower league club. He was raving about this lad on the phone to a manager.
davieG Posted 27 April 2005 Author Posted 27 April 2005 City Gunned Down In Season Closer Leicester's reserves finished off their season with defeat to Arsenal, the game ending in a 4-2 scoreline which somewhat flattered the visitors. There was standing room only at Marston's Stadium and the lively crowd were treated to six goals in a keenly contested match. City started the game brightly and set out to show that they would not be out-played by the Premiership giants. Sadly with a quarter of an hour gone the Gunners capitalised on a mishap to open the scoring. Kerrea Gilbert charged down Conrad Logan's attempted clearance and the luck of the bounce enabled him to round the City 'keeper before side-footing the ball home from a tight angle. Persistence from Stephen Dawson on the byline teed-up Chris O'Grady on 29 minutes. A well timed block from an Arsenal defender denied O'Grady before Matt Heath saw his header fly wide of the near post from the resulting corner. The Foxes continued to press forward and got their breakthrough in the 34th minute. Having put the visitors on the back foot, a Peter Canero through ball found Stefan Moore free in the box. It took heroics from ex-City loanee Stuart Taylor to prevent Moore from scoring but as the ball rebounded out, City peppered the goal with shots and it was third time lucky when O'Grady thumped his effort into the back of the net for the equaliser. The sides went in at the half all square, but Arsenal were to retake the lead in the 73rd minute. A corner kick was headed back across the face and Ryan Smith made no mistake in blasting into the roof of the net from close range. Leicester nearly struck back immediately, Jason Wilcox unleashing a stinging volley from the edge of the area which went just wide of the upright. Moments later however, Logan was sold short on a back-pass, gifting the Arsenal attack with an opportunity to score. Fortunately Richard Stearman reacted quickly and was on hand to mop up the danger. With 70 minutes gone, Arturo Lupoli extended the Gunners' advantage by converting a controversial penalty when it looked as if Canero had won the ball with his sliding challenge. Just three minutes later Lupoli added his second and Arsenal's fourth, seizing on a flick-on to knock the ball under the advancing Logan. City then pulled one back late on courtesy of Scot Gemmill (pictured above right). The midfielder latched on to a long ball with a burst of pace and despite Taylor's block, the ball broke in Gemmill's favour to allow him to walk it over the line to make the final score 4-2. CITY: Logan, Canero, Morley, Dawson ©, Stearman, Heath, O'Grady (Dodds 69), Gemmill, Wright, Moore, Wilcox Subs (not used): Porter, Wykes, Graham, Wesolowski Booked: Heath 22, Stearman 38 ARSENAL: Taylor ©, Hoyte, Gilbert, Muamba, Skulaso, Birchall (Kelly 88), Djourou (O'Donnell 57), Flamini, Smith, Lupoli, Bendtner Subs (not used): Gill, Jordan Booked: Muamba 12, Smith 45

Knighton Matt Posted 27 April 2005 Posted 27 April 2005 my mate said micky adams was at the reserves match, the third city match he's been to in 10days (derby and cardiff being the others). wonder how much of our crap we could offload to cov and who in particular he's interested in? heath?

Ric Flair Posted 28 April 2005 Posted 28 April 2005 I went last night, wasn't impressed at all with either side. Good turn out though, about 1500 there along with Micky Adams!! Saw the little man a few times. Stearman, Dawson, O'Grady and Gemmill were all good. The rest were awful, Logan had an absolute shocker. Stearman kept having to bail Heath out, he really isn't doing himself any favours. Infact Wright, Heath, Wilcox, Moore and Canero all looked like they couldn't be arsed which ruined it for the lads who were playing quite well. Lupoli was quite dangerous, his finish for his second goal was very classy. I'd try and get him on loan if we could. Their centre half Burchill I think it is? He was good, defended everything we threw at them. All in all a disappointing game, but reserve games often are. Dawson deserves a chance on sunday, he was up and down the pitch constantly. At one stage in the match he was down on the left wing harassing their right back and eventually won it off him and left him for dead. Cut in on the by-line and fed Moore a cracking ball but he wasted the chance. I bet Adams was impressed with Gemmill, he actually looked good and got stuck in which was good to see.
