Uncle Albert Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Kahn proved me wrong, Not that I don't like him i just didn't think he was quite ready to step up to someone of Barrera's level quite yet.As for Hatton, he's past it. Doesn't take care of himself well enough to continue fighting at the top. Woah alright Frank Warren! Barrera is way past what he was so I don't see why people are bigging Khan up from this fight, yes this was a big win for Khan especially because of his loss to that dude last year, who Khan was meant to smash. Barrera was a shadow of what he used to be so you are only fooling yourself's if you think that win will boost Khan's credentials as a top Boxer. And as for your drab about Hatton then how the Jon do you know that he isnt keeping himself in good condition? You at his training camp now then? He was in a good condition for his Mayweather fight but was outboxed and was also in good condition for his fight after Mayweather but was ill. I dont think Mayweather Snr will let Hatton not look after himself, personally.
Samilktray Posted 18 March 2009 Posted 18 March 2009 Hattons not past it, hes a very good boxer, a boring 1 but good all the same.
BoneDog Posted 19 March 2009 Posted 19 March 2009 Hatton is lookin in good condition at the minute and I assume he'll be in hard training all the way to the fight now. Only about 5 weeks left innit. I just can't see how he can win this one. Pacquiao is the boss

BoneDog Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 I could have 'em both Even after one a your 42 hour all-nighters you'd piss on em

I never said he was a top boxer? and to be fair Barrera might not be what he used to be but he is still quite a fine boxer. As for the Hatton debate. Its not drab at all its a well known fact he drinks and eats himself silly when he's not in training and then when it comes to training time he has to lose in excess of a stone everytime. Its suited him up until now but as he's getting older he needs to realise that his body cannot hack it as much anymore. Hopefully Mayweather Snr changes that before its too late.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 He's still got no chin. Therefore will never be that good. S'alright sticking him in the ring with an somoone well suited to his boxing style, stick him with someone with a bit of clout, few clean hits he'll be laid out.

S'alright sticking him in the ring with an somoone well suited to his boxing style, stick him with someone with a bit of clout, few clean hits he'll be laid out. Which is why hes adapted and learned to cover his chin alot more, as seen against Barrera regardless of what condition Barrera was in.

You've based that opinion purely on the Prescott fight.
BoneDog Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 Khan is still a young lad and is way ahead of where most fighters are at his age. He is getting stronger and stronger and he has got too much skill, power and speed for most fighters in the world so he will be alright against most out there. There won't be many who will trouble him again as he learns from his mistakes. It's obvious to any boxing fan that Khan has bags of talent and is special
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 March 2009 Posted 20 March 2009 You've based that opinion purely on the Prescott fight. Incorrect, it's based on the Limond and Gomez fights as well (who are both shite) You can't teach someone to take a punch, no matter how well he covers himself he will get hard against the best.

Even the best get knocked down throughout their career, they can only learn from these mistakes. Khan has come on leaps and bounds since training with Roach and is now starting to look the real deal by adapting his style and improve his defence.

Quite Correct, I'd like you to show me another example of a great fighter getting knocked down by a domestic level fighter like Limond, and a past it journeyman who had lost three of his past six fights like Gomez though. Thats without mentioning Prescott, who made him look stupid. I don't dislike Amir Khan he's got talent the lad just can't take a punch. It's a fact and I don't really see how anyone can aruge otherwise. Everytime he's been hit hard he's a best reeled and at worst ended up on his backside.

I haven't seen much of Limond but I always thought Gomez was a good fighter. A proper warrior
