Father Ted Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 After only seeing him once (today), I have realised just how much we have missed a goalie like him. A goalkeeper with aggression, great shot-stopping, solid kicking and his craziness. I will be very dissappointed if we weren't to sign him, he was quality today, as was his interview after the match. Every other word being Errmmm... in a Scouse accent! Love it!
leftsideoverhere Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 ... except I've watched him for 180 minutes now, and I think I've only seen him catch the ball twice. Punch, punch, header, block with body, punch. It's exciting, and effective, but not very reassuring.
Matt Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Took one for the team aswell! That must have hurt! Hard as nails though got straight back up to carry on his duties! P.S - No doubt this thread will be merged with the Post Match Thread aswell

Every other word being Errmmm... in a Scouse accent! Love it! When you consider he was understudy to what was Clamity James at Liverpool I don't think so - can do much better than Tony Warner. There is a reason why he's mostly been a number 2 than a number 1.
pooleyLCFC Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 I agree with Hammond i sit behind the goal and there is hardly any communication to his defence. He is quite shaky at times but a great save with his head from yeates he reminded me of the Terminator

maddog Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 A little bit wreckless if you ask me. After all these keepers, i would still be happy with Henderson.
Matt Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 Henderson is the only keeper I have seen that actually does communicate with the defence, Martin doesn't and that worried me and was a reason for me not being so keen on him but he turned the corner and started to impress me then got injured.
pooleyLCFC Posted 21 March 2009 Posted 21 March 2009 I would like to see Pentney given a few games because he had a cracking game when he came on against Swindon. Doubt it will happen though.

Certainly not at the moment, but if there are a few games left to put him in if/when we get promoted/win the title go for it.

Maybes Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 180 minutes and we should sign him?! Do yourself a favour.
Koke Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Saw him against Millwall, didn't exactly fill me with confidence. There's a reason he has been a no. 2 all his life. I'd much rather have Martin back to be honest.
carterfox90 Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 he did save a point for us today & was probably mom but we didnt have many to choose from did we as for signing him permanently no thanks there are better out there who we can surely afford

His he didnt seem to know much about some of his stops whether it was positioning or luck doesnt matter we got a point but i wasnt really turned into a Warner fan today.

Are you serious? If you actually bother to watch Martin you'll see that is probably one of his main strengths; he always shouting at the players in front of him and trying to organise. You've got them mixed up I think.
Gaffer Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 He's funny , didnt he get a guy booked for obstruction on purpose?
dandannieldanok Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 If we go up, then Pearson has to surely look at bringing in someone much better than Tony Warner. He's been gaffe-prone throughout his career and he could easily have been made to look a fool yesterday on a couple of occasions. I know he made a good save against Yeates but I'd have backed Henderson and Martin to have saved that.

dandannieldanok Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Like David Martin? Well I'd take David Martin ahead of Tony Warner, but I'm still not totally convinced if he's good enough.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Well I'd take David Martin ahead of Tony Warner, but I'm still not totally convinced if he's good enough. He's still very young, especially considering a 'keeper's usual peak age. I'd like him to stay.

Mr Happy Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 I thought Warner was, for the most part, alright yesters. Made some excellent saves to keep us in the game. As for being better than Martin, maybe not. But hes definately adequete cover until(if) Martin's fit again. When he took the ball out the box I thought it was a shame he didn't take it all the way, reckon he could of scored
Joe. Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 I've liked what I've seen in the two games so far. OK, he punches a lot but at least it's decisive. Seems a good enough shot stopper too. Can't complain with his performances so far surely?
