Bremner Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 Very true, any fan who has to resort to chanting about another teams tragedies has no right to attend a football match, thats what I think. Correct lets all show some respect
Sparky Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 Which would make loads of our fans aresholes too, then. A lot of bellends attending this game wont even be City fans but there to give it the big i am against Leeds , as you previously said L1 will be dickhead central
Steve Lufc Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 Hi, Leeds fan here. I've been to Leiecster twice since both teams were relegated from the Premiership. And both times have left a sour taste. Whilst i can't condone (no-one can) the racist chanting that some areas of our following have done at your place, i don't see how even after that, people could justify singing about people who have died supporting their club. As for Monday, should there be a Minutes Silence, the Leeds fans will observe it, and if there are any that don't, it'll be due to them just arriving into the ground and not actually knowing there is one. But as for the game itself, should the Leeds fans rightfully observe the silence, i rather hope Leicesters fans will follow the same suit in for once, not crossing the line with the banter between two sets of supporters. Heres hoping to a good game in memory of both the Leicester fan, and Chris & Kevin.
Daggers Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 Very true, any fan who has to resort to chanting about another teams tragedies has no right to attend a football match, thats what I think. Yup. I am hoping for a lusty Leeds support chanting on their team and singing WACCOE, and a positive response from us singing to cheer on our side. Realistic and experienced enough to know this isn't going to happen though!

Hello Steve, welcome - I've been supporting City since the 70's and have yet to see a match against Leeds where you lot don't indulge in a bit of racism. It really is a case of sorting out your own house before you come dictating how other clubs' supporters should behave. Almost 40 years of supporting racism, it'd make a nice shirt for your club shop

Almost 40 years of supporting racism, it'd make a nice shirt for your club shop I can't deny there has been chanting like that. As it's clear there has, certainly the year we lost 2-0 to you (1st year in the CCC i think?). But for people to seem to think thats on a level par as chanting about the deaths of two people, i find it a bit farfetched. Racism is a very low point, but i feel the death chanting is worse than it (Saying that, i may be biased obviously due to knowing what it was like when they died). But as others have said, hopefully on Monday (on Sky too ), the two sets of fans will back their own teams and hopefully the banter won't cross the line.
blueharmie Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 they wont respect the minutes silence, they will then start singing "your just a town..." like they did at filbert street and off it goes from there. I am not impressed with people who chant this, neither are others.

Based on what, may i ask? Barring the George Best one (which was around 100 idiots in a 2,000 following, unacceptable, but not as bad as the media made it out to be), Leeds have conducted themselves very well in Minutes silences as you'd expect.

Was it Matt Busbys at Old Trafford where your own player Gordon Strachan left the centre circle to tell you to shut up ??
Steve Lufc Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 Was it Matt Busbys at Old Trafford where your own player Gordon Strachan left the centre circle to tell you to shut up ?? Don't know to be honest. I would of only being around 5 at the time I've heard stories for why that all happened, something to do with them boo'ing Bremners minute silence. It's just all very stupid i'd say
Sparky Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 Don't know to be honest. I would of only being around 5 at the time fair enough cant blame you for that then !!

It's not a competition. "Singing about death is worse than 40 years of abusing your city's multi-cultural heritage". This comes from a fan who's supporters still chant about the Munich air disaster which robbed football, not just Manchester Utd, of many great individuals/husbands/sons/dads. You need to stop acting like your shit doesn't stink. I remember the Gelderd End being awash with Nazi salutes and "Sieg Heil" being chanted in the 80's - the Wellingborough Leeds fans were all members of the National Front and a number still hold season tickets, racist literature and merchandise was openly sold at the club gates at Elland Road. Ridiculous for a club with Jewish owners! Racism is still rife within your club and it is something you and your chums should be proactively tackling. If a City fan starts up about Turkey then they'll find themselves identified and lobbed out of our club, our stewards are highly sensitive to it. It's high time your club and supporters took an active stance in solving its problems.

I was very young in the 80's, so i can't really make a comment on that time of my club. But obviously things like that don't happen now. As for the Munich chants, once again, thats something i totally disagree with, and when a group attempt to sing it, a lot of people will sing above it and drown it out. Obviously the fans within our ground can't be responsible for what others do, thats the job of the stewards and unfortunately, they're more bothered about making people sit down as opposed to preventing obscene chanting. But with the quote, "This comes from a fan who's supporters still chant about the Munich air disaster which robbed football, not just Manchester Utd, of many great individuals/husbands/sons/dads. You need to stop acting like your shit doesn't stink.", the same could be said about your club, who clearly have no thoughts whatsoever to the sons, wives, fathers and mothers of the two that died in Turkey.
Uncle Albert Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 Were the two Leeds fans who died scrapping it out with the Turks? Or were they just bystanders? I seriously dont know the story.
Steve Lufc Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 Were the two Leeds fans who died scrapping it out with the Turks? Or were they just bystanders? I seriously dont know the story. The two that were killed were bystanders. Caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Uncle Albert Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 The two that were killed were bystanders. Caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ah right, very sad news. But werent alot of Leeds fans fighting anyways? Silly boys.
Steve Lufc Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 Ah right, very sad news. But werent alot of Leeds fans fighting anyways? Silly boys. Apparently so. It's a situation where only the people there will of known what truly happened. On coming home, a lot of people said how no Leeds fans went out with knives etc. Seemed as if their fans knew what they were doing and yet they are still free of punishment.

No. You were playing at My Dad's Bigger Than Your Dad. I'm not saying anything about the wankers who chanted, I was highlighting the hypocrisy of you complaining about our supporters signing songs of death when your supporters have a long-standing history of vile abuse and making fun of disaster. I'm not claiming our fans are perfect, we have our own collection of retarded ****s but the difference is that our club actively seeks to improve the situation season on season. The job of the stewards? Absolute bollocks - if people are chanting offensive stuff then it is up to you and everyone around you to stand up against it. Failing to do that simply writes you off as a spineless fuck. Anyone mentioning Turkey near me on Monday will cop an earful before I point them out to a steward for extraction.

Something that i've clearly already stated is well on its way out of this club........ Obviously i can't say what it'd be like if we were playing Man Utd, as we obviously haven't played them in a long time. And yes, whatever your opinions on that are, it is the job of the stewards. They're paid to deal with incidents like that. I don't pay a Premiership price to sort a problem out, and risk getting banned from our ground for causing some kind of fight to simply make a point.

Koke Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 I'm sure we'll both respect each other's misfortunes on Monday. The Turkey chants are bang out of order, and the Town full of P.. are also stupid, despite it being boring and cringe worth now. I doubt any Asians within us actually take offence to it any more. However, it's still racial slurs and it's wrong.
Koke Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 One more thing, Waccoe is probably the worst football forum I've ever come across. I've never thought the IQ level was that low in Yorkshire. They make Coventry fans sound intelligent, and that takes some doing. Racial comments, ridiculing dead Munich victims etc is perfectly normal and acceptable on Waccoe. You would be banned within 5 minutes if we had such members on this site.

Simi Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 I think what the Leeds fans will have to understand is a game like this will draw out a hell of a lot of dicks, more than usual, especially next to your lot. I hope we don't shame ourselves by singing such stuff, but sadly, I wouldn't be shocked to hear it.
TonyDorigo Posted 10 April 2009 Posted 10 April 2009 Hello. As i'm sure, there will have already been Leeds fans leaving their thoughts and well wishes on the situation. I was shown this story from a friend, and from a Leeds United forum. A tragic event that deserves a minute's silence/applause, whichever is chosen. I, as would many other Leeds fans, would feel honoured to take part, in order to remember such a terrific fan of a terrific football club. I must admit, I was saddened to see that some of the views on this thread were rather erratic. For example, from a member named "Ian C": Problem is, when you have a bunch of c*nting scum coming up to your place before that game, what are you going to do?The Leeds fans of course have short memories, it was only 9 years ago they were mourning the loss of 2 of their own, 9 years later and they will come up and disrupt ours. We have short memories? If you hadnt realised, it was less than a week ago of the anniversary, and the club and fans of Leeds Utd were hit just as hard over the past week or so. We know just as much as anyone else how hurtful it is to lose fans of your club, in such horrific circumstances. Infact, this reason alone will be why Leeds Utd fans will stay quiet. It is a shame to hear such opinions, and I just hope the majority of Foxes fans disagree with this mindless moron. This is way off topic though. This thread should focus on remembering the supporter Derek. To his family, to his friends, and to anyone who knew him, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Good luck for the rest of the season, I hope you can gain some sort of promotion in celebration of his support, and hope to see you in the Championship next year.
