Respect on Monday

Anyone mentioning Turkey near me on Monday will cop an earful before I point them out to a steward for extraction.

That's my favourite sandwiches off the menu then!

At the end of the day - You and Pool sing about Munich, United sing about Hillsborough and many other clubs i.e. Millwall this season will make Turkish jibes. You all give it out and yet none can take it. If prompted by racist chants on Monday from your lot then yes, some to your left will bring up Turkey it's inevitable.

I don;t condone it and would never sing it, but can defenalty see it happening, especailly with the close proximity of the away fans and L1.

By all accounts, Leeds and Liverpool sing about Munich to Man Utd. And vice versa.

It's wrong, but you can see why it happens in these matches.

Yet teams such as: M'wall, yourselves, Derby etc. They seem to believe it's right to also do it, making you just as bad if not worse.

How are are we "as bad" if not worse ?

Take Liverpool and Manchester for example.

When they play each other, i'm sure theres chants towards Munich and Hillsborough all over the place. It's wrong, but in a way you can see why. All it takes is one person and then others react etc.

When Millwall played Liverpool a few years ago in the Carling Cup, they were chanting about it, unprovoked.

Now you could take Leeds and Manchester, the same scenario as Liverpool & Man Utd.

Then when Leeds play Leicester, regardless what some of the morons sing from the Leeds end. Suddenly, people deem it acceptable to sing about people dying.

Someone earlier claimed that racist chanting and people singing about death are on a level par. I don't see how, whatsoever.

That is one of the most dismal excuses for a post I think I've ever seen, and I've read waccoe.

Why do you Leeds fans feel the need to come on here and try to justify your singing, by large numbers about the Munich air crash by saying one or two of our idiots throw in the odd Turkey reference.

Get you're own house in order before you start preaching to the converted because I'd put big money on the fact that no one from this forum sings about Munich, Turkey or Hillsboro'

In all due respect, when leeds fans first came onto here. It was in saying rest in peace to, Derek is it? And in hope that the Mondays silence (should there be one) would go fine with neither fans disrespecting Chris & Kev or Derek.

And the irony being that our fans have found our way here, due to a member of this forum putting a link to it on our own forum.

This has nothing to do with your fans dieing.

It's about Derek, the minutes silence is for him. (if there is one :P)

This thread isn't. But someone from here i'd imagine came onto Waccoe basically saying they hoped we'd respect the mins silence if there is one.

Last week was the 9th anniversairy of our two dying in Turkey. And so a fair few of our fans find it interesting that some of Leicesters fans are quick to claim how Leeds scum won't respect a mins silence if there is one, when they chant etc about two leeds fans that died.

But that was addressed to those on Waccoe not to Leeds fans as whole and it's obvious to anyone that the sort of fan that waccoe attracts is unlikely to respect anything other than their own bigoted self interests.

You'd be surprised. Just last week they raised £400 for some charity and have raised around £500 (i think) for a charity of Lucas Radebes choice.

The facts are:

1) Leeds fans have a history of disrupting minute's silences.

2) At the time of the most recent anniversary of Munich, a Leeds game was televised on Sky. During that game, a song celebrating the air crash was clearly heard on TV.

3) That same song has been frequently sung by Leeds fans on visits to both Filbo and the Way, along with equally pleasant racist ditties.

4) Some City fans (wrongly) have thought this makes it OK to mock the deaths in Istanbul.

Meaning it's not going to kick off, it's going to be a tea party. I think it's meant to be a joke.

Can't we give this guy a break? Some people might have found this guy's original post a bit patronizing but he doesn't mean any harm.

Much of what I would have said in this discussion has been said eloquently already by Daggers and DavieG.

Several people have suggested that the Leeds fans coming on here need to 'get their own house in order'. Fair comment. But just so with us - it's not up to the stewards to stop racist chanting, or songs about fans of other clubs being killed. It's up to us to stamp it out amongst Leicester fans too. There should be no place for songs about Munich on any terrace anywhere.

As well as an occasion to note the passing of a lifelong City fan, and a poignant time of year for Leeds fans, Monday's game is also the match both sides will play closest to the 20th anniversary of Hillsborough. They all seem like good reasons for a minute's silence to me, and I'm surprised the club haven't already announced that there will be one. Maybe if it is announced on that basis, fans of both clubs and any neutrals in the Walkers, will all be able to find a reason to respect it.

Well I've never heard them described as that before.

One other quick point. Does anyone, anywhere, ever actually think that their own team play better if they hear the fans chanting offensive songs at the opposition's fans? If the point of being supporters is to support Leicester, wouldn't we be better employed singing to show support for our own players anyway, and not getting distracted into songs about Turkey or anything else?

If it goes ahead it should be a minute's applause and maybe make a point of having a joint tribute to the two Leeds fans as well, that way both fans can pay respects to their respective dead.

This debate could go on for 55 more pages and the same things would be said over and over. I don't think any of the Leeds boys coming on here would condone their 'minority' spoiling for a fight and certainly no-one on here would condone any of ours doing the same. We all agree that the fans that sing the Turkey, Paki etc chants are scum but the fact is that there will be one or two who kick off no matter what anyone says and at the end of the game both sets of fans will tar the majority of the others with the same brush.

Both clubs have ignorant tossers who lack manners, respect or common sense. Whatever the other rights and wrongs, we all owe it to ourselves to single them out and have them removed, then the rest of us can get on with enjoying the game we've been looking forward to for the best part of 8 months.

Brilliant.

My form of abuse is slightly less abhorrent than your form of abuse, so this makes my form ok!

This largely seems to be the opinion of some fans on here.

How hard is it to accept that both forms are wrong and idiotic, and one does not justify the other, regardless of who said what?

"Pleasant" as in unpleasant and unwelcome. I was being ironic.
