James. Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 So I'm flying to Brindisi in Southern Italy to stay at a friend's villa at the beginning of September with my girlfriend. Seems like Ryanair are the only carrier that offer direct flights so I think great, they're a budget airline - this should be cheap. The flight cost is £125 each which seems pretty decent given there is little competition on the route. So far so good. But then we proceed past the flight page and to the extra charges page. Want to check in a bag? That's £30 please. Per person. Want to check in at the airport instead of online? That'll be £20. Want to board the flight early? £6. Want to pay on ANYTHING apart from a ****ing Visa Electron card? That's another £20 thanks. C*nts. Thieving c*nts. Now I'm happy to take just 1 bag between us and check in online but that's still another £50 on top of the flight cost - what the ****. I swear these charges were never as high before (in fact I swear these charges didn't exist before). Add this to the fact I will not get fed, I will get treated like shit and I may well be charged to use the toilet. Ryanair are wankers.
lou Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 Bloke at work was saying the same the other week.... by the time hed got to pay the prices had more than doubled.. I prefer Easyjet... £15 a bag but I didnt have to pay for using a card or anything. Got my return flights to Greece in June for just over a ton which I was happy with. Can I just say at this point.......... CARPHONE WAREHOUSE ARE EQUALLY WANKERS!!!!!!!!!
Dr The Singh Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 Yep, I can say they can be really caniving, all most thieving!! The mrs won't fly with them because of there poor customer service!! Once our bag was just over a kilo in weight, so it was £7, i was fuming, so I wore 2 layers of clothing!!
James. Posted 15 April 2009 Author Posted 15 April 2009 I prefer Easyjet... £15 a bag but I didnt have to pay for using a card or anything. Easyjet are definitely better. Normally I wouldn't moan about Ryanair but when they are my only option it pisses me off that they are such a load of thieving nobs. It will backfire on them if they carry on like this though. There's only so much the consumer will take before they decide to pay a few quid more and get treated with a bit of respect.

Very true, I found some cracking flights to Rome, but Mrs Singh is unforgiving, so her loss and Ryan Air's loss! We flew with easyjet last week, cracking service, loads of banter, over weight baggage the lot!!!
Sir Fynwy Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 Ryanair are the worst of the budget airlines, I expect them to start charging for air soon. Absolute scum! The other 'budget airlines' are pretty useless and the prices are often as high or higher than the main airlines (if you can find flights that are acceptable). I am going to Geneva tomorrow on easyjet from luton for £150 but could have gone using air france from London city for £110 plus getting into a lounge and having food and drink provided.

Yeah I went from City Airport to Geneva in December. Soooo much easier, nicer and smoother than the budget airlines. You can rock up 30 mins before your flight, straight through security and on to the plane. Cup of tea and a croissant on the house, before you know it you've landed. Oh and you get amazing views of London from City Airport. Next time, maybe!

I didn't take the london city option because of the extra 30 minutes drive, pretty much regretting it now, missing the gold card treatment too!

Fox92 Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 Don't know if it has been mentioned but Ryanair are going to start charging people when they use the toilets on the aeroplane. __ There is alot more low fair aeroplanes though. BMI Baby

Fox92 Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 Your going to think even less of them as they have announced that they are going to charge their passengers for using the toilet in the aeroplane. I have never heard nothing so ridiculas. Not only do they charge you about £4.00 for a small drink but this is happening! What is the world coming to eh? ITS THAT BAD IVE POSTED IT TWICE!
Sir Fynwy Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 then why on earth didn't you, its such an easy airport to get to, we pay extra to fly SAS just to go there rather than stanstead or heathrow - i'm guessing you saw it too late - unlucky... You guess wrong, I had both booking pages open at the same time, I decided I didn't want to get up 1 hour earlier or drive the extra 30 minutes, I can be a twat sometimes.

Shrenchel Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 Ryanair are the fooking dogs bollocks. Just booked flights to Portugal, 3 quid each way. Ill check in online, just take hand luggage and happily sit around and board the plane after all the ****** that queue up at the gate an hour before the plane takes off as if theres not enough seats for everyone or summin. 10 quid service charge. 16 quid in total. Unbeatable.

But I am bothered when they charge me £20 for not using a Visa Electron. Who the **** uses Visa Electron anyway? I've heard of credit card charges but normally ALL debit cards are free... Wankers. And £30 for a bag. I'm going with a girl. Like **** can we just take hand luggage.
Guest Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 And £30 for a bag. I'm going with a girl. Like **** can we just take hand luggage. Oi. I have travelled with just hand luggage before now.
breadandcheese Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 To add to that, Ryanair's baggage weight limit is 15 Kgs and not the standard 20 Kgs as on most other airlines, so they catch a few people out like that with overweight luggage. One of my friend's is a pilot. He refuses to fly by ryanair out of safety concerns.
James. Posted 15 April 2009 Author Posted 15 April 2009 One of my friend's is a pilot. He refuses to fly by ryanair out of safety concerns. I didn't think it could get any worse... For some nobody to say that because they're just scared of flying or they read it in the papers is one thing. For a ****ing pilot to say it is quite another!
lavrentis Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 I remember when the Pilots of Ryan Air landed at the wrong airport, they landed in a Military base
Monk Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 Don't forget the rip off Stansted Express to get there! I recently moved about a mile from City Airport. Only smallish planes, and tickets are more expensive but, hey at the end of the day it's time and hassle to go to the other airports. Will take me 2 hrs to get to Heathrow when I go to Virginia in a couple of weeks. So from now on when I can I'll be flying from City, avoiding the crowds.

For some nobody to say that because they're just scared of flying or they read it in the papers is one thing. For a ****ing pilot to say it is quite another! Yeah, sorry. Should've posted that after you got back from your break. To be fair, their planes are modern and they do have to adher to all the legislation put out by the relevant aviation authorities. It's more that perhaps the likes of BA, Virgin and other more expensive airlines tend to have more engineers per plane and larger maintenance budgets.

Don't worry, I'm a good flyer generally and have flown with Ryanair quite a few times already. I won't be worried by what you've said but it is pretty concerning the lengths to which the company seem willing to go to 1. rip off their customers and 2. cut back on costs.

They let you take the piss with hand luggage anyway. When I went to Barca in Feb I took this fook off sports bag that didnt fit in the little size tester thing they have the gate, the woman let me stamp on it for about 5 minutes until it half fitted in and then said that was fine.

If its still working out cheaper overall than a non budget airline then how is it a rip off??!! If its not, then whey are you flying with them??!
