gonzo Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Southampton fan here in peace. I posted last year after you guys were down to post my commiserations (in a nice way). I'm pleased to see you bounce straight back. Being champions must be the icing on the cake for you. Who'd have thought it, the manager who kept us up at your expense, has taken you up as champions and we look like we'll be replacing you in league one next season. I'm sure there's an irony there somewhere! Best of luck for next season, and well done for this season. Leicester was always too big a club to stay in league one for too long! Hopefully our clubs will meet again (preferably in the CCC or even better the Premier League). But the only premier league we look like reaching is the Blue Square version........ EDIT: thanks to whichever mod put this into its own thread!
Alexikokopops Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Ta for the support mate I've got a fair few Southampton supporting mates who were good to me on the 4th of May last year so I'm rooting for you, even if it means another trip to St Mary's (I don't like that place)

EDIT: thanks to whichever mod put this into its own thread! I concur. Well done Leicester, if it wasn't for having that skate **** owner, then I would have a real soft spot for Leicester, always a decent away day and much of a similar team as us in almost every way. Sincere congratulations to Nigel Pearson, a top, top bloke, the fact that Lowe got rid of him is criminal. With support from Mandick, I am sure he will push you lads near the playoffs next season. Anyway, HOPEFULLY we will be playing in League 1 next season ( as long as we still have a club ) , any tips? Decent away days etc?
Gaffer Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Decent away days etc? The little grounds are fantastic, if you have the right following, Southend, Stockport, Walsall are a real treat All the best whatever happens, i have a mate down your way with the same thinking as you, so Good luck
C-man Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Anyway, HOPEFULLY we will be playing in League 1 next season ( as long as we still have a club ) , any tips? Decent away days etc? Go everywhere. Even if you struggle, make the most of the season, League One is what you make of it. You can either be miserable, claim that you should be beating teams every week and moan incessantly if you don't. Or you can have your chin up, have some amazing away days and appreciate what the league is all about - the fans. I don't think it'd be out of place to say we've made a lot of friends in this division by playing football in the right way, creating good atmospheres at small grounds and bringing lots of money into small clubs and the surrounding area. It's a shame for you that Hereford and Cheltenham are going down, you would have enjoyed days out there.
Lamby Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 Come down with us Southampton, our fans can have more punch ups with your fans and cause a riot and we can get a police escort to the station. It was a good away day on the 4th for me, even if the steward did have to give me £3 so I could get a ticket

Well done NP and Leicester!
Joe. Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 I can't say it'll upset me to see Southampton go down (purely for the fact that we never beat you ****ers), but I honestly do hope they sort themselves out financially. I'd never want them to crumble in that way. League One 'aint that bad if you decide to make something of it as a fan. There's some quality away days out there as we've found out this season, and you should find more results going your way (you'd like to think anyway). It looks like there's going to be some big clubs down there with you next year. Personally I don't think Southampton will bounce back at the first attempt, purely for their financial problems. I'd imagine you'll lose most of your so-called 'better' players, and probably some of your younger stars too. The club seems like it needs a complete re-shuffle from what I can see, starting with the players. Playing a team full of unproven youth has clearly been detrimental to you this season, but whether it's entirely the manager's fault I can't comment.
Lamby Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 And Charlton can run back into the ground and hide in the toilets again!!Well done NP and Leicester! Doubt we did tbh, we had our firm of about 15 people there to cause trouble How does it feel to be soo skint? You're not gonna be here next year!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Southampton and Charlton are pretty much screwed. Yep.
SussexFox Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 Swing Lowe, Swing Ruuuupert Lowe Swing him from the Itchen Bridge! Good luck Saints one of my best mates supports Southampton. Think you're a great club with fans who can make a lot of noise and don't deserve to be going down to League 1, I hope you bounce back but i fear the worst for the club I hope Lowe is proud of how he's fcuked your club up

The Doctor Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 oohhh rival fans fighting on nuetral territory sounds fun. however couldn't the host club end up in trouble with the FA despite not being directly involved as such(their fans not doing anything)

Bore off. We didn't play you this season and we are not going to be playing you next. Go on a Carlisle or Swindon Forum.
