Record Breaking Season

Leicester City's season will live in record books Leicester City's League One title-winning campaign has rewritten the club's record books.

Saturday's 3-0 success at relegated Crewe made it 27 wins for the season, one better than the previous mark set by the side which won promotion to the Premier League under Micky Adams in 2002-03.

City won 14 games away, one more than they managed at home, and that surpassed the previous best of 11, again established by Adams's side.

City suffered their fewest defeats in a season, four, beating the six of the 2002-03 team.

Another record is City's final points tally of 96. It is the highest in the club's history, said club statistician Dave Smith.

Other City records were smashed on their travels.

Just three defeats on the road is a new best as are the 48 away points and 43 away goals.

And the campaign also brought a record run of 23 league games unbeaten.

On the downside it is also the lowest League position we've ever finished

Let's hope that was the last time we played in this league.

But let's Look on the positive side : we involved some new, young and fresh players, we won a championship, we got Matty back and we can enjoy our team. :chant:

And yet we got a trophy for it

With relation to the highest points tally, has anyone checked this against us getting 3 points for wins instead of 2 back in the day?

Dunno if we'd end up with more.

Probably not.

Having said that, if it's the most wins we've got and least defeats, I dunno how any other season could be higher lol

I believe that we also feilded our oldest ever outfield player (Chris Powell - 53 years 268 days) and used the most number of goalkeepers in a season (13).

:D

It may have happened in a "lower" league but those stats make very impressive reading. You can only beat what's in front of you and we did it in style this season, no doubt.

Very, very impressive statistics and made for a very enjoyable season. The Adams team that we've beaten were quite clearly a better team and their achievements were obviously better (seeing as they did it at a higher level and all), but take nothing away from what we've achieved this season. We had a job to do, and did it very professionally with great style at times.

Hopefully we'll only ever have to visit places like these again in early rounds of cup competitions.

If someone fixes studs onto a wheelchair, there's no reason Powell couldn't play into his 80s.

You're my new favourite!

Sign him on a 40 year contract NOW!

Makes me a proud fan to read that... shame it was in League One but hopefully, such a good season will mean high spirits going into next year and we'll really push on... hopefully towards the Premiership! :D

We scored twice as many league goals as last season!

That in itself deserves credit...

We were also the highest scorers in the entire Football League! :o:o:)

Not sure we've ever done that before..

Not bad for a dour, defensive, settle for 1-0 wins team, was it Izzy Iriekpen?

This season, with us breaking all these records, really has put the pride back into our supporters and the club. It's great.
