Matt Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Tottenham Hotpsur centre-back, Ledley King, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning, following an altercation outside a nightclub in central London in which he allegedly caused actual bodily harm.King has now been released on bail, after the Metropolitan Police confirmed that the 28-year-old had been detained when members of the public alerted a passing patrol car to the incident, thought to have taken place in Charing Cross Road. Now the famously injury prone defender has issued an official statement apologising for his actions, through the club's official website. The statement reads: "I sincerely regret that a night out with friends went too far. I have apologised to Harry [Redknapp] and I fully appreciate that, as a professional footballer, I have a duty to behave in a responsible manner. "I am assisting the police with their enquiries. Anyone who knows me, knows that much of what has been suggested is totally out of character. I am keen to resolve this as soon as possible and concentrate on my football. I shall be putting my all into ensuring I give of my best for the remaining fixtures." It remains to be seen what sanctions King will face, whether from the criminal justice system or from his club.
Samilktray Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 The guy who he assaulted was on SSN earlier wasnt he? Looked perfectly fine considering he was 'assaulted'. Another gimp after some attention and cash.
C-man Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 I've always respected Ledley King. I'm sure he did nothing wrong.
Koke Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Meh. A few nightclub handbags. Happens every fucking night in every town centres. Hardly assault.
Uncle Albert Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 The lad who Ledley was supposed to of 'assaulted' did look like a bit of a spanned in all honesty. Even if Ledley did do him over he will get away with it just like Gerrard did.
lildave3 Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Pffft, anyone who gets in a fight with Ledley King and doesn't go straight for his knee deserves a hiding.
dandannieldanok Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Ledley's got such an easy life, still struggle to believe he doesn't train.
Guest Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 I've always respected Ledley King. I'm sure he did nothing wrong. I always thought it was funny that he laughed when Sir Les realised he didn't stand a chance with me But that's another story.
purpleronnie Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Ledley king 'you know who I am?' Bouncer ' It doesnt matter' Typical footballer.
Ultra Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 I've always respected Ledley King. I'm sure he did nothing wrong. The CCTV may tell a different story. The fact that he's already felt the need to apologise suggests he could have a case to answer..
Matt Posted 10 May 2009 Author Posted 10 May 2009 The CCTV may tell a different story. The fact that he's already felt the need to apologise suggests he could have a case to answer.. That's what I was thinking. Innocent till proven guilty, but if he felt the need to apologize he obviously did something, why would he apologize for doing nothing?

Durnerz Posted 11 May 2009 Posted 11 May 2009 Kings got to be innocent, it'd be like trying to fight Long John Silver or Heather Mills....
Maybes Posted 11 May 2009 Posted 11 May 2009 The guy who he assaulted was on SSN earlier wasnt he?Looked perfectly fine considering he was 'assaulted'. Another gimp after some attention and cash. This. Apparently the guys head was hurting and so were his teeth
C-man Posted 11 May 2009 Posted 11 May 2009 The CCTV may tell a different story. The fact that he's already felt the need to apologise suggests he could have a case to answer.. He might well have done something wrong, but the fact he's apologised means nothing. He's the club captain of Tottenham, he almost has a responsibility to say sorry to the fans for being drunk and a bit raucous..
lcfc_jme Posted 11 May 2009 Posted 11 May 2009 The actual legal definition of 'assault' is much different and wider than what many believe it to mean, in which case Ledley may well have 'assaulted' the bloke. Not exactly difficult to prove it happened either, especially with the help of the CCTV. Ledley has probably the easiest life EVER, if he's going around acting a **** in town then it wouldn't sadden me to see somebody in town to end his career forever.
