Adebayor: "It's all about the money"

Don't blame Adebayor for this attitude, blame the game that has rapidly evolved around money over the last 15 years...

The fact that Adebayor has come out and said this is how most footballers are. Its not their fault big money is waved in front of them! Money caused a lot of loyalty and trust in the game to dissapear, a game which i once loved but have now become disillusioned with.

And yeah he is shit, thats why hes a premier league player <_<

I think he has a fair point, he's just argued it in a really cvntish way, because he is a willy puller at the end of the day  .

Imo there are 2 points.....Of course its about the money (though far too much in some cases), most players play till what? mid 30's ? some will go into other areas of football most will do f**k all.

If your a league 1 or 2 player monies everything too secure your families future.

In terms of Adebayor as posters have already mentioned he is probably a millionaire, problem is that greed looks like taking over.

I admire is honesty even if it seems he lacks guidance and common sense as to what to say to the media (unless he clearly does not give a s**t)

So if he is going to go on to nothing you expect him to not look for the money to maintain his current lifestyle into the future, but instead to play for silverware then downgrade to a 3 bed semi in the east end or something? Crazy. Greed has nothing to do with it. He is earning what he can when he can and we would all do the same.

He is one for outspoken views isn't he? Recentley he has come out and said that he doesn't regret celebrating in front of the Arsenal fans earlier this season and to be honest, this football blog by League Two player Ben Davies highlights why he shouldn't regret it.

Davies gives a footballer's perspective on it and says that "Footballers are just like every other human being after all." Therefore, they are bound to react to being abused. Much like any of us would if we were shouted at while in the office.

He also gives an insight into his vomiting and general sickness which caused him to miss a game recentley, but if you are having your breakfast, just skip to the last couple of paragraphs where he discussed Adebayor.

To be honest, if you play against your former club, you want to win. No matter what level you play at. If you score in that game, your going to be ecstatic!! I didn't blame him for celebrating at the time and I don't now. Football is a passionate game, whether you play for the money or not. All footballers are mercenaries, whether they admit it or not.

I would be the same as Adebayor. I would love rubbing it in the faces of my old club (barring leicester) if I scored.

As for the money. He may aswell get as much money as possible, I would be the same.

Adebayor is from a really poor background in Togo, can you blame him for wanting to make as much money as poosible? I can't.

Many don't like him but he obviously has a lot of talent and is cashing in, fair play to him I say. At least he's honest about it.

Agreed, it's not like Adebayor grew up supporting Arsenal so his only ties are money related.

You work to play, not play to work.
