Scow Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 Has anyone ever had this done or even thinking about getting this done? I know Lisa has had it done and she's had no problems so far (I think?). It does seem quite costly on the surface, but I understand you can spread the cost and it would obviously be cheaper in the long term rather than continuing with wearing contact lenses. My eyes seem to have got worse recently, not in terms of sight, but appearance. They're constantly bloodshot, though surprisingly not that painful. I even stopped wearing contact lenses for a 4 day period, however, no improvement was visible. I've been wearing contact lenses for about 5-6 years without any problems, and if anything, I've used my glasses a lot more recently. I will be going to my opticians (Boots, who don't do the laser eye surgery) to see what the problem is, but I'd like to see if anyone else is in a similar situation.

Are you sure the bloodshottedness is down to the lenses? My youngest lad does not wear them but his eyes are bloodshot massively at the mo. The GP's reckon it's a non irritable form of hay fever but I'm not convinced as the medication given is neither use nor ornament.

DB11 Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 I want it done but apparently you cannot join the police if you've had it done therefore I won't be having it

I've had no problems, but like HF said, it could be something else. Although with me, it was the lenses that made my eyes bloodshot and very sore. Have you tried any eyedrops?

The GP's reckon it's a non irritable form of hay fever but I'm not convinced as the medication given is neither use nor ornament. I've not considered that. I've had a mild form of bloodshot eyes for a while and I was told that was down to wearing my lenses too much. I subsequently took the optician's advice and it's got worse, so there's probably a strong chance that it's more than just the lenses. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18cXl8MgoZs...PL&index=38

If it's air-conditioned office, the atmosphere will really dry your eyes out and so your lenses will irritate. You can buy special eye drops that rehydrate the eyes, and are designed for contact lense users. I found them useful for a short time, but in the long term, I had to ditch the lenses.
Cobbo Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 No one has mentioned the 80 vodka's a day habit causing the bloodtshotness? Shocking.
AoWW Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 No one has mentioned the 80 vodka's a day habit causing the bloodtshotness? Shocking. I was tempted... but thought it seemed a little rude.
JoeyB Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 Have you tried another options verdict to? I know my little brother had problems was at specsavers, went to Dolland and Atchinson and has never looked back, his eyes will never be good but have made a drastic improvement at D&A.

Yeh air conditioning does do that to my conact lenses. Well annoying!!
Hullfox Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 Thing is you may as well cover them up aswell for all the use they are.
Zingari Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 had it done about 10 years ago , no problems other than a little dryness and i use moisturising eye drops to combat this . a couple of quid a bottle from tesco ( but the consultant told me i had dry eyes before the op so maybe i should have used them anyway ) i was in at the same treatment time as mylene klass (maxivision , just off harley st )
Durnerz Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 I think my eyes are getting worse lately, yesterday in fact I was in specsavers and guess who i bumped into........... ............EVERYONE!

Ric Flair Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Funny you should mention this Scoweh as I reckon i'm being left with no choice but to get laser surgery. I have had the WORST eye infection i've ever had over the past few weeks, so much so that i've been to the eye hospital 6 times in the last 9 days. Basically an absess, was starting to form on my eyeball and I had to have an injection right in to the eyeball. Was sickening, but surprisingly didn't hurt too much. I've been on eye drops and it cleared up for a while, but since my drops finished. It's started to flare back up so i've had to go back several times to be monitored. Turns out they think i've formed an adverse allergy to contact lenses and can't wear them for at least 3-6 months. So it's glasses at the minute, but my prescription on my bins is massively weaker than what I need and i'm waiting for an appointment to get some new lenses, so it's pissing me off. I am going to get laser surgery I reckon, and just pay it off monthly.
