Milky Posted 27 May 2009 Posted 27 May 2009 Henman never made a grand slam final, Murray already has.Murray has already almost won the same number of singles titles as Henman in just 4 years, Henman was pro for 13 years. Henman did very well to make his 4 Wimbledon semi-finals but never had the guts to make the final, and Murray is pretty certain to make a Wimbledon final one day. How many matches did Henman lose to total unknown players, and how many did he lose from being ahead? It's blatantly obvious Murray has something that Henman didn't and is much more determined. Yes Henman did well at the French in 2004 but never even made it past the 3rd round in 11 other French opens and lost in the 1st or 2nd round on 7 occasions. Murrays no clay court specialist either and he's already made the 3rd round this year, and im pretty sure he will go further than Henman did in most of his, in only his 3rd French Open. Henmans one really good chance to make a Wimbledon final was in 2001 and he bottled it http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2001/jul/0...s.wimbledon2006 Just because thats my opinion it means i have no 'knowledge of the game' and you are some sort of tennis statto god You said this "If Tim was in the same position as Murray today he would have lost" That's Complete bullshit and i said as much. You've done a Thracian and gone completely off track.

You've done a Thracian and gone completely off track. Thats because i think he would have lost. And you think he would have won based on the fact he made one French Open Semi Final out of 12 french opens, losing in the 1st round or 2nd round on 7 occasions. Thats complete and utter bullshit. And theres just no fooking way Tim would have won that third set from 5-1 down. He probably didn't even come back from 5-1 down in a set in his entire career in a grand slam, especially at the French open. And had Murray lost that 3rd set Starace would have carried his momentum and probably gone on to win the match.

You just implied henman wasn't capable of such a comeback and i objected to that. You're arguing with yourself it seems.
dandannieldanok Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 Federer's struggling badly here, virtually the same situation as Murray was in. 1-1 in sets but 4-1 down in the third set.
maddog Posted 29 May 2009 Author Posted 29 May 2009 Murrays through Tipsarevic was a bit of a test, but it was down to him crumbling under the pressure when serving for the set 3 times, not Murray's star play in the 1st set. And then Tipsarevic picked up an injury and that virtually ended the match. Can't see Murray beating Cilic in the next round though, hopefully he will surprise me and win. Federer plays Mathieu tomorrow which should be an easy win, but the ones to watch for me tomorrow are Djokovic V Kohlschreiber and Monfils V Melzer. Melzer no slouch at 26 in the world, with 1 atp title to his name, on clay. Monfils the home favourite will get the crowd going with his spiderman like arms and ridiculous shots. Kohlschreiber is now 31 in the world, and will test Djokovic, and i remember the German beating Andy Roddick in a thriller at the Australian Open last year. Those 2 matches will hopefully be thrillers Monfils will be looking to go one better this year though, and make the French Open Final. Melzer will be out for revenge after he lost to Gael in last years tournament.

Federer easy win against Mathieu I think you'll find that Federer is struggling for form and Mathieu will have a home crowd behind him. I expect Nole to do a proffesional job on Kohlschreiber and I expect Monfils to pull through easily. Had Tipsarevic not sustained the injury, I think it would have been a totally different story right now.
StanSP Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 When is Rafa Nadal's next match. That's all I really care about to be honest. And Tsonga. But I'm not sure if he made it through.

Had Tipsarevic not sustained the injury, I think it would have been a totally different story right now. I just want to see Federer win the french open, and i think he will win in 3 sets. Real game shaping up though between Monfils and Melzer as i thought, the crowd have got going, the tennis is very entertaining, Monfils took the first set 6-2, but Melzer has bounced back and taken the second set 6-4 so it's 1 set all. And Melzer has screamed 'COME ON' very loudly after taking that set. Get it on if your not watching fook the Fa Cup final.
maddog Posted 30 May 2009 Author Posted 30 May 2009 Monfils has just proved too good for Melzer in the end. The Frenchman is 2 sets to 1 up and 5-0 up in the 4th set, it's pretty much all over for the Austrian. Tsonga has already taken the first set 6-2, waiting in anticipation for him to finish and the mighty Federer to start
maddog Posted 30 May 2009 Author Posted 30 May 2009 Theres a long way to go but the dangerous german Kohlscrieber has taken the first set against Djokovic 6-4.
Number 6 Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 Djoko in real trouble, Fed will be pleased to see that.

As for Federer he lost the first set <_< but it looks like he will take the 2nd, currently 4-1 up. And now Roger's gone 5-1 up on serve, so the 2nd set is seemingly over. Monfils came through in 4 sets in the end, quite easily. Federers into his stride now though, i still sense an easy win just maybe in 4 sets though
maddog Posted 30 May 2009 Author Posted 30 May 2009 Federer takes the 2nd set 6-1 finishing with a love service game. Come on Roger Frenchy has got to raise it in the 3rd set. As for Novak going out, i'm delighted as IF Roger makes the semis he won't have to play him. Come on Fed!
maddog Posted 30 May 2009 Author Posted 30 May 2009 What an excellent match. Some real good tennis, really good atmosphere in the crowd and a great battle. Mathieu played so well, got the 1st set, then Federer worked very hard to win it in 4. The final score 4-6 6-1 6-4 6-4. Federer tested yet again, but he needs to be tested because the real test will be Nadal in the final if they both make it. Murrays on 2nd tomorrow against Cilic so should start about 12 GMT

As for Djokovic, I think that is the worst I've ever seen him play (and yes, I didn't bother with the FA cup ) Whenever the sun comes out, Nole goes in.
maddog Posted 31 May 2009 Author Posted 31 May 2009 Murrays supposed to be on BBC2 at 12.00 GMT. But somethings gone wrong because animal park has just started And that also means it's Murray o'clock. Coverage will be on BBC2 at 1200 BST, streamed here (UK only) and on BBC 5 Live. So stuck with the online stream on BBC site now. The players are warming up, maybe they will cut flanimal park short

Milky Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 To be fair it is on the internet and on the red button. This bloke has only been broken three times in the tournament, and he does it first game.
maddog Posted 31 May 2009 Author Posted 31 May 2009 Cilic is a right beast, saw him play at Nottingham last year. 5-4 to him If you think Karlovic is tall on TV, i've seen him standing a few feet away from me, and he is fooking massive.
