maddog Posted 1 June 2009 Author Posted 1 June 2009 Went out earlier assuming Federer would have an easy win. Get back and he's 2 sets down against Tommy Haas But looks like Fed will take the 3rd set And he does. Come on Roger!
StanSP Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Has Haas lost it or what? 0-5 in 19mins. Complacency hasn't crept in. It's bloody gone straight through him!
maddog Posted 1 June 2009 Author Posted 1 June 2009 Unbelieveable. In less than 30 minutes it's gone from Haas having break point to serve for the match in the 3rd set. To Federer winning 9 games in a row, and winning the 4th set 6-0. Federer is heavy favourite for this one now. You could have almost got 3/1 on Federer to win this match at 2 sets to love down, 4-3 down. And in a flash it's 2 sets all
StanSP Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Haas has given up. Not even trying as hard as he can now.
maddog Posted 1 June 2009 Author Posted 1 June 2009 Federer double breaks Haas in the 5th. And in the end will cruise through to the quarters. He will play Roddick, or Monfils. Harsh on Tommy Haas, coming to the end of his career now, so close to knocking out Federer and throwing the tournament even wider open. It's between Federer, Murray, Del Potro, Gonzalez for me now.

Get off that fence
Number 6 Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Monfils or Roddick will be a tougher test for Fed. He did well to pull through that, but still not looking great.
maddog Posted 1 June 2009 Author Posted 1 June 2009 Get off that fence Alright then, i think Federer will win. I also want Federer to win.
Flynny Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Get off that fence Bit harsh, it's a lot harder to read form on Clay, so many players who are average during the rest of the season become capable of winning matches. I don't think Fed will win. If Murray gets to play Fed, he'll win. I'm going to be bold and call a final involving neither of them, though.
maddog Posted 1 June 2009 Author Posted 1 June 2009 Live stream of Monfils Roddick. http://www.justin.tv/live24_cemba The pictures pretty poor though. Much better here http://www.iraqgoals.net/ch1.html
maddog Posted 1 June 2009 Author Posted 1 June 2009 Monfils leads 2 sets to love, and looks like he will play Federer in the quarters, what a mouth watering prospect of a match that is. Maybe they will finish this one tonight afterall Roddick is shit at base line rallys, and always has been pretty one dimensional with his serve, Monfils is very consistent and is just rallying Roddick out until he makes an error. With the very slow clay courts, Roddicks serve is a lot more returnable, unlike on grass. Monfils breaks Roddick in the opening game of the 3rd set, the crowd go wild, Monfils leads 1-0 in the third and is on serve. USA
maddog Posted 1 June 2009 Author Posted 1 June 2009 Monfils is waving his arms around everywhere. The crowd are going crazy. Roddick doesn't know what to do, he's been out rallyed from the baseline, his serve is being easily returned, and he's just tried coming in to the net and been easily lobbed. Monfils is about to double break Roddick and go 3-0 up in the 3rd set, 2 sets up. Sloppy error from Monfils, Roddick back to 30-40 Well played Roddick, he plays a perfect point and its back to deuce. The American needs this game to stay in the match realistically. Monfils return is short and it's punished by Roddick, he has the advantage. Forehand into the net from Roddick back to deuce. Superb Andy Roddick, was 0-40 down in that game, could have given up but he takes it with a nice volley. Still 1 break down in the 3rd set the American, but still has small hope of coming back in this set now.
maddog Posted 1 June 2009 Author Posted 1 June 2009 WOW! Roddick was 2-0 down 0-40 down in this set. But hes bounced back superbly, and broke back Monfils to 2-2. He's right back in this now, on the verge of going a double break down. He has the momentum and is probably favourite for this set now.
maddog Posted 1 June 2009 Author Posted 1 June 2009 Well thats all folks for today on the live foxestalk tennis commentary. Stay tuned tomorrow for Andy Murray live at approximately 14.30 GMT
Lovejoy Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Though I want either Murray or Federer to win this, my money is on JMDP. Really open draw though imo.
dandannieldanok Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 Gonzalez is playing brilliantly here, not a lot Murray can do other than hang on in there and scrap it out.
StanSP Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 Gonzalez is playing brilliantly here, not a lot Murray can do other than hang on in there and scrap it out. Murray did well to break him. In love with Gonzalez's forehand shots though!
