martyn Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Christ what an upset....one of the biggest in Tennis history surely and has blown the draw wide open. I think Murray Gonzo will go to 5 sets rendering both useless for a potential semi-final. Of course this is now set up for Federer's best ever chance to win the French but for some reason....I'm tempted to stick some money on Del Potro or Davydenko (if he continues to school Verdasco and get through).
dandannieldanok Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Soderling was superb, he'd beat Murray playing like that. Tbh Murray's got an almighty task on his hands, Gonzalez is also looking brilliant.
martyn Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Not necessarily if Murray brought his A game, Nadal was off colour today and left far too many balls short for Soderling to attack. Still doesn't detract from a sensational performance and win but tomorrow is another day, Soderling will do well to play as well as that again in his career. Gonzalez v Murray is an interesting match up, no idea who'll prevail there.
Joe. Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 'Kinell. Nadal doesn't lose on clay, it's not possible. I remember seeing Soderling when I went to Wimbledon last year actually, got beaten by Federer then.
maddog Posted 31 May 2009 Author Posted 31 May 2009 I'd be way more impressed if you'd said that before the game! [/quote Still i bet not many people were saying that at 1 set all Especially not John Lloyd who kept saying pretty much every time Nadal won a point that it could be the turning point in the match and repeatedly said Solderlings level has to drop he has to crumble at somepoint in the match. I have absolutely no respect for him at all now. He's bias, he picked a shit Davis Cup team, he talks shit when commentating etc.
maddog Posted 31 May 2009 Author Posted 31 May 2009 Matches to watch tomorrow are Roddick V Monfils and Tsonga V Del Potro. But i'm also hoping that Roger Federer can come through comfortably against Tommy Haas. He is second on after Serena Williams. So will probably start around 12 GMT like Murray did. Although i can see him starting earlier at about 11.30 GMT as Serena could put away Wozniak in 1 hour
Darkzzz_ Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 at the Nadal Spain haters. In all fairness having just watched some highlights, he got what he deserved. Anyone but Murray for me.

lildave3 Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 I knew you were the leader. Now i'm even more confused .
Darkzzz_ Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 So Scotland haters are OK then? Your making the assumption based on this? I love Scotland. I just don't like Murray.
Ultra Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 I'd like to see him win this. It's not like Britain has a stash of quality players.
Number 6 Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Rafa wants Roger: "It would be great [to see him win it], so that he can complete the Grand Slam. If anybody deserves it, it’s him". To be honest I want anyone but Fed or Murray. The competition will be close from here on in, I don't think any matches will be easy.

There are indeed some quality players left in. But what's this Murray hatefest all about?

Number 6 Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Its about opinion. Mine is I don't like him. I am the same. I just don't like the guy.
Anish Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 If Federer does win the French Open to complete the set of Slams and win his 14th slam, he can thank Soderling for this. I only saw the final set but Soderling was superb, and made Nadal pay for having an off day. Nadal was bound to lose his record (just like Federer lost his Wimbledon record to Nadal) but it's still surprising that he lost at this stage and to Soderling. I still think it's all to play for though - Federer hasn't been too impressive and now that all the pressure is on him he could choke.
Number 6 Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Fed one set down to Haas, but a break up in the second. EDIT: Wow, back on serve.
StanSP Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Haas one point from going 2 sets to love up! EDIT: YES!! Haas 2-0 Federer
Number 6 Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Well would you Adam and believe this! 2-0! Love it! Think Fed left this at home:
